I get you and for Villa and a few other clubs that may work. I don't like the separation of club and stadium tbh and I wouldn't like to see the club's stadium, whether owned directly as a lien for a liability. It still messes things up for the fans

True, "selling" the ground in the first place is to sideline the ffp rules...I'm torn between whether a system should help the richest billionaires spend as much as they like on their toys (which seems the only realistic way to upset the status quo) or if this is the beginning of the end for the competition

For overspend on FFP I would like the liability to be away from the actual club. you could have owners coming into clubs like Xia and gambling the club's assets and making a complete mess of it and walking away with the club in the mire and the owner not giving a crap. I don't think that is fair on any set of fans. However, is the liability for the funds was a personal liability against the owner then that would be completely different. And in the case of Xia, we would not have been permitted to spend in excess of FFP as he wouldn't have passed a credit check for the money. However, owners like ours, Chelsea, Man Utd etc would pass the credit check and could be held personally liable.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain.  Our owners bought the ground with their own cash.  It's their asset worth let's say for arguments sake £50mill.  Would it make sense to let our owners overspend on the club, with the asset of the ground set as a "guarantor" if they decide to bail?  So essentially the ground is returned to our ownership if they decide to bail out.

I suggest all the dreamt up bits (so all of it 😉

Grealish said that he decided to leave after a conversation with Terry about playing in the CL.  Terry then leaves unexpectedly, followed by Grealish unexpectedly...those are the facts.

It is my belief that the owners would have been pleased about that and that it may have triggered a decision. It is also only my opinion that not many people were bothered when Terry left.

I have often thought that would make sense but the numbers would be huge and it would not be too palatable for an owner to have to potentially put hundreds of millions in escrow. Maybe a lein on a capital asset or some other form of form of liability  that is to the owner as opposed to the club.

Maybe the ownership of the ground would work?

Just came to post the same.

Starting to get the feeling that all is not as well as it appears behind the scenes to lose both Terry and ROK in the few weeks before the season starts.

Terry made sense if he had a job lined up but he didn't. I accepted his reasoning about not seeing the season through...but now with a second I'm unconvinced

Wouldn't surprise me if we told Terry to **** off after he told grealish he should be playing for a CL team.  Wasn't particularly liked around the place anyway I don't think

  7. Team success is achieved by more than the sum of its individual parts.  To have owners, management, and team all pulling in the same clear direction will give us an advantage.  To have players like Watkins, bertie, martinez and cash all with a seasons experience makes us a better team than last year.  Our recruitment this year, knowing how meticulous our procurement has been in identifying weaknesses in the squad and addressing them will give us far more tools to win games than before.  Addressing the holes in our coaching team with set piece specialists again gains us small but significant improvements.  We could really kick on

I'm going to say it. 6th for me

JWP rumours have gone quiet...something tells me southampton asked for something silly like 70m

Or they want time to replace him as we did with Greedlish.   It wouldn't surprise me if we are being patient as they helped us by not leaking the Ings transfer

  9. I think the majority of teams in the league are weaker than before, with Manchester blues, Manchester reds and Chelski stronger (especially if lukaku signs).  They will take more points off the bottom 17 teams, and we have improved I my opinion

I think we've got a great chance of getting 6th behind the usual suspects and Leicester.

Would love it if we got him. I can't help but feel bad for Southampton fans though.

They do need money and there is value out there tonrepalce what they've lost, but it will be a tough task to stay out of a relegation  battle

Jack confirmed he wanted to leave on Monday, I don't see how ESR, Buendia or Bailey related to Jack leaving to be honest.  Ings is the first signing with the Grealish money.

Now he has gone though we can probably bring in another 4 or 5  x  30m players over the next three years and more if we sell a few fringe players like El Ghazi, Wesley and maybe Luiz.

Purslow said there had been ongoing interest and offers that were not entertained as they were below the release clause.  I'm glad they were proactive in planning for him to go especially as the player was pushing for a move.   This all sounded quite inevitable to the villa board from the sound of it.

Not saying its our last signing either - they might address areas on the pitch nothing to do with replacing thingy
