Looked rattled tonight by the speculation going on.  Didn't exactly stamp his name on the teamsheet.  Quite the opposite unfortunately

Yes, seems a bit of a worry.  Wage bill will have ballooned this window with Ramsey added.  Someone said it earlier, perhaps we are looking at high quality loans so as to improve the team now, bit not block progression of our youngsters?

Me too.  Let's say Gerrard either fails to improve results and gets sacked, or does well then "a huge job he couldn't refuse" comes along.  We have already spent more than we can afford (year on year losses at the club), owners get bored as they've given it their best go backing Gerrard and we are firmly in the s**t. 

If we stick to highly rated youngsters, the wages are lower and the resale is higher - it does feel safer.  But then no-one knows the owners intentions and I have no reason to question their motivation or judgement at this point....

Maybe we are looking to build the club's profile globally.  It's the best chance of short term success our owners can achieve, it will build revenue to support future business (and ffp compliance).  Another loan as per coutinho wouldn't be the end of the world...

So spurs were the other club if this is true...perhaps we're confident that he'll come to us if we want him?  Or perhaps reality will kick in and he'll go to spurs if they're in Europe and we're not next season

I don't think he's finished at all.  He was one of our best players last season and might flourish with an established coutinho pairing down the left
