Its defo tactics that make him come back inside. Emery will be saying if the pass isnt on or if there is no space to run into then recycle back and start again. Its frustrating to watch but its not his fault. The Prem is tactically on a whole different level these days. Teams just do not let you have space any more unless they are the top ones who want to impose their game on us.
Agreed. Love Cashy but there is definitely room to improve in this team. I think the competition for his position in terms of Konsa seems to have affected his confidence too. He's good defensively and. Excellent when recovering, but the confidence to do something offensively seems low. I would love it if he could put in a few 9/10 performances in his next games as he deserves it

Would've been a sweet, sweet Christmas.
I hope the entire team will use what they are also hopefully feeling about today's result as motivation to not let other massive opportunities slip away. The margins are too narrow.
Personally I think that if we are dominating possession, defending well and creating chances then we are doing our job. Sometimes luck, var etc means you don't get what you deserve but you're going to win more than you lose. I think "motivation" was not something we can improve on imo.

Volleyball time
Handballiest handball ever. Utterly impossible that someone has decided that handball was not handball.

Obviously frustrating but did well to get the goal as a concelation. On to the next one

How is there 2 mins of injury time? There's been 8 mins of var

The belittling from Neville “I think they will drop back, Aston Villa, but if they were to drop back to 5th or 6th that would still be a great season.”
There is no evidence to say we will drop back.

They won't write anything off, if anything this is more of a free hit for them. There is no expectation on that at all to halt our run, so they could be very dangerous. If we score early I'll relax, but it could be a very tense evening if we don't. Need to score in the first 20,25 minutes ideally.
Agreed, I guess they may accept defeat if we score early instead of running themselves into the ground chasing a probable lost cause

Sheff utd have a massive game at home to Luton on Boxing Day. Any chance they focus on being 100% up for that and write this one off..?

People mention experience of being in a title race and the fact we don't have it. True, but due to city's dominance, most people's experience is of failure so not sure how much that helps them. If city could keep wobbling for as long as possible, that would be great

Nobody’s gonna give Sancho the big wages again - might he want to get his career back on track at Villa?
No. Really can't see him applying himself to the level Unai demands of his players on the pitch or on the training ground. We are more likely to sign Cilla Black imo

This is the greatest retort in the history of arguments. "If more people liked us, we'd be more popular than you."
They have a point. They'd be a more successful team if they were much better at football too

Salah, bissouma, papa sat out at afcon soon and man city distracted by world club cup means we'll be 8 points clear by end of Jan IMO

Hallmarks of a title winning team:
Elite manager (goes without saying)
Exceptional home form ( the joint best in the world)
A 20 goal striker (maybe)
Goals throughout the squad (luiz, mcginn, bailey, Diaby, Ramsey, Moreno, Pau etc)
A class keeper (the world's No1)
Quality bench (good options able to change games, or see out wins)
Mental toughness (handling pressure, winning games when not playing well, getting undeserved points, seeing out games)
Some luck..
Weakened competition (hopefully man city and Liverpool hopefully not achieving 90+ points this year)
Winning mentality (Emery and Martinez ooze this)
I actually think we've got a decent chance on paper, it's only my villa scepticism kicking in that stops me getting too carried away

Pretty sure someone did the same to Konsa after our first goal. A very light touch on the face which I guess was a red but seems harsh as the Brentford player flailed his arms around twice which was more violent.
-
Yeah, all the wolves mouthpieces I know don't really talk about football much anymore. Was hoping they'd get relegated this season but am happy we're winning the league instead
-
F**k Ben Mee. Thanks for the three points you inbred talentless prick.
Other than that, good luck Brentford with the rest of your season

We have won 7 pts out of 9 in our last 3 away games so have addressed our away form while at the same time won against the top 2 in consecutive games. We have the best record vs others in the top 10. No club has won more games than us this season. We have one of the best goalscoring records in the division we have 87 points from the past 42 games which proves we arent running hot .we are playing 2 out of the bottom 3 in our next 2 home games..... Damn right we are in a title race.
Stop it FFS

Out of your **** minds anyone criticising him for today. Gets Maupay rightly booked and then with 10mins extra time on the clock engineers a situation out of nothing to waste half of that for the price of a yellow. If Kamara doesn't pile in like a dummy it pays off perfectly.
Exactly

It feels like Ben **** Me got away with this, he is getting a nice Xmas break until the new year which is totally undeserved.
Do I wish him a career ending injury? That is a tough call
I don't, except if he gets one next time he tries to break someone else's legs. Then it's on him

Emi's probably saved us 6 points already this season, but I wish he could play without the red mist descending like that. If he doesn't shove Maupay over then we see out the game easily with a bunch fewer yellow cards and without Bouba's red.
Emi was just shit housing and wasting time. Thought it was brilliant from him, bouba shouldn't have thrown an arm - it was a bit stupid but accept that if you're playing with the intensity to win like we are then tempers might fray. Will be a big miss now

He's now a target for opposing teams to get sent off. Unfortunately a red card in waiting all of the time
