  1. What's the age limit for youth academy signings as aren't the costs associated with running the academy exempt from FFP calculations?

If they are then we should fill our boots

Everytime a new TV deal is agreed that money goes straight to players and agents it rarely services debt.

I just think it could be looked at.

Maybe it's fine as is but if teams are struggling apart from the cheating ones it's telling me something needs a slight change.

I've always thought that if the owners guarantee the debt the club is taking on, then let them get on with it.  The problem arises when owners gamble the club's fortunes, fail, then walk away without feeling the pain.  So FFP should only apply to "non-guaranteed" debt and could then be squeezed down to a smaller figure

  3. I understand the delay in dealing with City.  They lied and covered up their cheating, and it will take time to prove it (although there must be proof to bring the charges in the first place). Why's Chelsea taking so long?  They've found they cheated and have admitted it to the PL, so 10 points per season + extra for the cover up and move on...

Partly because the punishment is because of the same year of overspend.

    Extreme example:

If you make zero loss in year 1 and 2 and £130m loss in year 3, then the 3-year rolling figure for FFP is a £130m loss. This is over the £105m allowed, so a 10 point penalty.

Then Y4 you make zero loss again. The 3 year rolling period Y2-4 shows a £130m loss again, so again a 10 point penalty.

So whilst that should technically apply, they are being penalised twice for the same bit of overspend.

Then when you look at Y3-5, same issue again! Which would then be a 30 point deduction for breaking the rules once in one year.

I'm ok with them being hit 3 times.  Otherwise a team could overspend £300 mill in one season, but a new team, win the league then get the equivalent of 3.3 points per season knocked off them (10 point deduction) as a penalty.  The rules are there, if they didn't understand them that's their problem.

Disagree, one of the best set ups we've had is where we had two attacking FBs and Kamara drops into RCB and McGinn tucked in beside Luiz. We played that during our best spell in home games against Brighton and West Ham. Cash isn't good enough in that role we need a Frimpong. But KKH is the type of attacking RB that would suit the system.

I don't see Emery bringing him into the first team unless we let Chambers go and don't replace him

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  Konsa at RB or KKH if we want to push on more down the right.

It's strange he's been recalled as he's been playing well and often hasn't he? so maybe a return to our squad..?

Don’t know if it’s already been mentioned, but how about Jordan Henderson loan/purchase ? Quality cover for DM, wants out of Saudi…

I mentioned it a and got shot down.  I think the FIFA generation look at anyone over 27 who's not Linford Christie (Google it) as totally useless.

I think he could do a job as cover at CM and would be positive for the dressing room.  I'd only be behind it if we could do it on the cheap though

Fair enough. Fwiw he's just being decent and showing standards I think everyone should hold themselves to. I doubt he did it for the praise. Other people praising him for it can be a bit ott sure, but it isn't exactly spreading negativity either so I don't really have a problem with it.

No agreed, he generally seems like a good lad.

Get over yourself, no one thinks he deserves a medal of honor. No one here, besides you ofc, thought he was maliciously donating company property to a non-employee to cool off either.

Not sure I said it was malicious, just not really on board that the gesture was worthy of filming, posting and then admiring as particularly generous.  He probably gets enough worthy praise in life without blowing any more sunshine up his ass for nothing imo.

There's medication available for this level of depression mate.

Sorry I'm not overcome with the magnitude of this gesture.  I'll work on it by clapping at traffic lights

Yeah what a dick move giving a cold young boy a blanket. Horrifying scenes.

No I take it back.  Perhaps he could get some kind of trophy next time he holds a door open for someone too 🙄

Cash's post match interview today. Yet more amazement at Unai's astonishing attention to detail - different tactics for every game. And how much the players have bought into it. Great to hear.

It was easier when he was told to just throw the ball as far as possible, run around and wait for Coutinho to score

I wasn't writing us off, just acknowledging why others outside of Villa may not fancy us from what they see in those games.

We don't usually go out all guns blazing so it may be portrayed as not easy on the eye but I understand why Unai does it that way and appreciate we play the patient game

I agree watching us we seem patient and negative in a way, but then we've scored the second most goals in the league...

Hard to impress when you're asked to make lemonade for 50 people and they give you just 2 lemons.

I've just checked and there's no lemons in my lemonade so no excuses

Fair enough. I think you’re reading way too much into it. In my opinion we are sometimes way too quick to accuse people of stuff these days. I’d rather give him the benefit of the doubt and support him. He’s still a kid really and needs us to get behind him. I don’t think his actions are disrespectful to our great club but I appreciate your point of view.

True, but the rumours of a fall out seem to be true if he's getting moved on too.  So with the social media stuff, that's pretty moody considering our investment in him and disrespectful to emery.

He seems pretty immature on the pitch, so wouldn't surprise if he is off it.  Happy to support him if he wants to be here, happy to get rid of not.  No hard feelings from me

Good talent but I remember having some questions about his on field effort earlier on and it was described as nothing. Ironically, I think he’s been way more impactful as a sub recently but if he wants to play and thinks he has a better chance elsewhere, then let’s get a good fee and a replacement and get on with it.

Truth be told, he just won’t get that much time with Watkins available.

Will he get that much at Milan?  They've got better options already

How does it? He seems to be a bit of a character. Maybe he’s just doing it on purpose for a bit of sport. I’ve not seen anything petulant from him. He always tries really hard.

He's an Aston villa player and it seems a bit of an "up yours". We've spent £20mill, countless hours and support to settle him in and given him plenty of opportunities to shine in a successful team.

Hopefully we can free up some cash and get someone in who appreciates our club

If true, reinforces the "petulant" accusations..

Think Werner would have been a good signing on a 6 month loan with option to buy. Don't expect he would have scored double figures in goals but I think he would have been really useful.

Agreed, oh well probably wants to go to another London club.  Plus Tottenham are firmly in a title race don't you know

Wouldn't surprise me if he was sold a story by the club way before Emery came in.  It was well reported that he was a long term target from before Emery, and only happened to complete after he arrived. Emery didn't block it  but maybe when he agreed to it it was under a different vision to what he'd been sold earlier in the negotiations.

If he then choose to only hear what he wants to, and gets disillusioned because his expectation isn't being met, then its not Emery's fault. But it could well be a problem.

Guess we'll see if its just paper talk if he leaves or not this month.

Wasn't Ings around then, so would be third choice rather than second?
