Looking at his 26 goals last season, he'd probably have scored 12-13 of them in with Premier League opposition. I'd be happy with that return.
Lol what a comment

Also never played in England so as much (if not more) of a gamble for probably the same money.
Mikel Merino has had a season in the PL.
At least look them up before spouting nonsense mate.

I agree with you TRO. We could do with a big unit in midfield to shield the back four and allow Dougie further forward. I actually think he might even be able to play in the hole (cue the Carry on gifs) behind the striker. We could do that if Jack plays wide left.
Wilmar Barrios (26) at Zenit
Mikel Merino (24) at Real Sociedad
Both would be attainable wage structures and should cost around £25m... they are both units as well!

I just can't wait to have a bit of pace in the team. We might be able to do some of those counter attack thingys that everybody else does.
Witchcraft! They're a myth anyway.

Out of the following forwards, where would you rank Ollie?
- Raúl Jiménez
- Ismaïla Sarr
- Ayoze Pérez
- Moise Kean
- Ollie Watkins
- Alex Iwobi
- Sebastian Haller
- Joelinton
Think that's accurate.

Of course they will, but they are also miles better players than Watkins so value for money still applies.
A comparable deal would be the €30m or so Lille paid for Jonathan David.
Yeah that sounds about right, I would put the Belgian league and the championship in a similar bracket and they had similar records.

A few big IF's in that post.
£33m is about €10m less than Chelsea paid for Werner and almost €15m more than what Dortmund paid for Haaland in January. We could never get those players but on a striclty value for money view it shows what's out there when you are not forced to pay the Championship/PL premium.
It's a eye watering sum for any Championship player.
Both of those players you mentioned were purchased at their buy out clause fee.
Also Werner's buyout was c.50m Euros so not sure how you worked out the 10m part... You've conveniently used the £33m figure to fit you're argument. If it was £22m instead of £28m I don't think people would be shitting the bed over the fee.
It's only £33m if he does well in which case he'd be worth a **** tonne more than £33m.
Strikers are expensive.

Well if watkins scores 15 in the league next season for us then ill agree with you
No, if he scores 15 in the league next season he will be better than Abraham in my view because he will have done it for us instead of Chelsea.

I was wondering how much the entire Brentford squads wage bill is a year, if you pull the data from;
https://salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-championship/brentford/
It's £16,827,720 for the year.
Ollie Watkins joined Bentford 3 years ago from Exeter for £1.8m
He's scored in 45 in 132 games (1 in 2.5)
Regardless of what Brentford owe Exeter, why are we paying 9.3x the amount for the same player?
Are we just going to pay for their new stadium?
Even if he comes, does really well and get 15 goals this season and in 2 years leaves for £60m, we're putting ourselves (right now) at significant risk. One injury, low form, Smith gets sacked and the new manager doesn't fancy him, he can't adjust to the league, he turns into McCormack part 2.. It's all a huge risk for someone who hasn't proved they can score in the Prem.
I think i'd have been shocked had it been £18m, never mind £28m rising to £33m..
I know you shouldn't believe what you read, but wow, in my opinion, there must be better value out there than this.
Have you watched the goings on in the premier league in the last 5 years? Everton paid 50m for Gilfi Sigurdson. Wolves just paid £35m for an 11 year old girl from Portugal who's played in less first team games than me.
Honestly, chill out, its not your money mate.

Guardian has us and baggies in talks to take Conor Gallagher on loan here.
Looked very good at Charlton on loan last year. Would be a solid squad signing but it won't be unless there is an option to buy attached.

We created plenty of guilt-edged chances last season per game.
Unfortunately our strike force had no eyes, arms or indeed legs.

So, if you believe what you read in the press, we could be on the cusp of signing three players for a combined total of £65m.
You wait all day for a bus, then three come at once.
I think the Josh King rumor is dead in the water mate if we are signing Watkins. They are like for like.

My humblest of apologies to those i said that we wouldn't get close to 30 million on a player. According to Twitter folk ( well nixon ) Villa want two strikers. King very much still on by all accounts. Ollie wide left and king as a 9. Or vice versa. Great option to have. Great practically about the signing also as regards injuries. Cash can cover anywhere on the right if needs be. The most sellable for me is Samatta. Someone in Europe would take him and he really isn't that good so id cut our loses there. Davis - probably gets loaned out. Wesley back in October-ish
Wesley isn't even back in light training mate.
He's 2021 so forget this year. He might make the bench in December. It was a bad one.

Buying players from inferior leagues with wage demands we can meet and saying it doesn’t get easier than that......
That is a fact and always has been.
Again, as Awol said, you don't know that... same as the rest of us. You are mistaking your opinion as fact
