Being a NY sports fan isn’t a walk in the park either. For such a massive market, it has been underperforming massively this milennium. Last championship was the Giants in ‘11 and IDGAF about the NFL.

The Yanks and Rangers title droughts are kind of pathetic, considering their size.

Lots of pressure in the NY market

My Wild are going to get bounced out of the first round by Dallas. Minnesota sports, can’t ever have anything nice.

    What a shocker. F***

Few people voted for Biden with any real enthusiasm for his candidacy. They voted against Trump. And they'll do it again if it comes down to a rematch.

Absolutely. If Republicans are smart (I don’t believe either party is particularly smart), they’ll get absolutely anyone besides Trump nominated and put that person in as many debates as possible against President Biden.

Biden’s debates are going to be cringeworthy, even worse if he’s debating Trump.

    Went out for a few post work Friday scoops. Usually we stick to the same places so made the effort to go to some venues we don't give enough attention to;

The Colmore, not surprisingly on Colmore Row.

Nice venue and love the decor - chesterfield seats, wood panelled nooks and crannies, and bookshelves. Very banking hall style, which is appropriate as I *think* it used to be a Lloyds bank? Maybe @sidcow will know for sure.

It is owned by Thornbridge Brewery and they have a large cask and keg menu. Was rammed though, which is both good (nice to see business booming) and bad (queues / lack of seats)

The Good Intent, in Great Western Arcade

Operated by Craddocks Brewery and run as a Not For Profit pub, which all profits going to local charities. The interior fits in with the style of the Great Western Arcade.

Two cracking venues with a large choice of cask ales and craft/keg beer. Well worth visiting.

I actually have been to The Good Intent on my visit over, it’s a cool spot

    Getting up at 5:30am
    Watch bleary eyed
Hoping children don't wake up until at least half time (No chance)
Will not open the VT match thread unless we aren't creating any opportunities and/or they are all over us as it will obviously be my fault this is happening by not being in the VT match thread.
Win and I will walk around the rest of the day on cloud 9 reading every bit of Villa related stuff I can find
If we lose then I refuse to engage with the online world*

*This will not happen as we are destined for top 4.

6:30 for me. No children (yet), so it will just be myself, the Mrs, and the dog watching in bed. Not a shabby way to spend the morning.

I've already pre-registered for this event.  I live about 45min outside of DC in the suburbs.  Its about a 1hr metro ride to FedEx field for me.  The summerseries website says that the July 30th match is being advertised and sold as a doubleheader.  So the tickets will be for both Villa v Brentford at noon then Chelsea v Fulham at 245p EST.  I'm really looking forward to seeing AVFC live.  I have not seen them live since they were in the States and played in Philadelphia about 10yrs ago.

    Tickets go on sale 4/25

Also looking to head to DC with the Mrs… how do you pre-register?

Lovely to visit Qatar or other Middle East countries as a tourist for a week as well…same valid point as yours re visit vs living.

As for making it sounds worse than it is…are you sure? Literally a mass shooting as we speak in Kentucky, the last few days TN expelled 2 black young men, a judge on Friday banned an abortion pill, your ex President got indicted last week and is saying WW3 on social media, a Supreme Court judge not disclosing major influencing benefits and the fall out from Bud Light ambassador being trans.  These things happened in the last week and I’m sure many other things off the top of my head…so maybe you’re understating things.

Should this affect us playing preseason in the US? No.

Will us travelling to the US to watch games from the uk put us at risk? 99% no.

Should we just dismiss the issues US have when we get lectured when we play in Qatar?  The answer should also be No, plus playing in the US is just a bit blah to be honest.  Delighted for the US Villa fans and a great money spinner, just a little disappointed it’s there and think it’s hypocritical if we don’t talk about US major issues when we have talked so much when playing in other countries or other state sponsoring PL clubs like Newcastle.

Anyway I’m done with this topic.  It is what it is.  It’ll be a good marketing and money spinner for the club and great for our US Villa fans as I’ve said.

Equating the US to Qatar is a little extreme, no?

Anyway, I’ll definitely be trying to get to a match if I can get the time off work.

If West Ham wins the Conference League there will be 8 English clubs in Europe, top 7 + West Ham. Not top 8.

Slightly off topic, but has any Club ever been in their second domestic division and simultaneously in Europe?
