Big night tonight, all eyes on the Romanian Liga 1: UECL play-off. Come on U Craiova 1948 whoever you are!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would care about the outcome of a Romanian football match.

  2. Last time Villa came to the states they launched one of their kits while over here (can’t remember if it was the home or away). I’d expect us to have at least the home, and probably also away, launched by our US trip.

What I am mildly surprised about is that Villa didn’t launch their new brand the last match of the season, which I believe they had previously said was the plan. The gravitas of the match probably put those plans on hold.

The club has its own font so yeah.

I mean if I’m buying a kit next year I want the ECL patch and those numbers.

Same. First year back in the Prem I made sure to get the PL patch on my shirt. I’ll be doing the same with the ECL patch on next season’s shirt

Poch to Chelsea confirmed on a two year deal. Sky Sports News with 86 articles on why he’s the perfect fit for Chelsea.

    !!NEWSFLASH!!

    Nobody gives a shit.

2 year deal? Thought it would be like 8.

  5. Brad Guzan diving the wrong way on a pen would be nice.

In all seriousness… El Ghazi after he scored the first goal in the playoff final? What about Tammy scoring the penalty to send us to Wembley? Both might be called “tinpot” because we were in the championship, but both are key moments in getting us to where we are today.

Would absolutely love to meet Martinez, seems like a genuinely good guy and I love how he’s blossomed with us after being so under appreciated at Arsenal. I met Ashley Young years ago up town and he was a real gent. I met McGinn and Jack a few times in the pub, McGinn is everything you’d expect him to be, hilarious. I’ve met Tyrone twice and both times he’s been an absolute 🔔 end.

I’d be curious what Mings did to rub you the wrong way. He seems like a top man to me.

They come around fairly often & I think the league wants to continue to expand. Maybe they want to get to 32 teams like the NFL? They’re at 30 now.

I would not be surprised if they want to expand into the 40-50 team range with two leagues of 20-25 clubs each. Besides the quality, one of the big knocks on MLS is no promotion/relegation. The owners love it, guaranteed MLS money with no risk of losing out. Creating a closed shop two-tier league will provide fans with the promotion/relegation but still provide owners with the peace of mind that their club will never drop below MLS 2nd tier level.

I think Vegas is still very much on if NSWE want it to be.

I'm such a wuss with eating. Not only can I not handle hot (as in spicy) food, but the same goes for hot (as in temperature). I never got burned by pop tarts, etc., as I'd always leave them to cool on a plate for a good while before eating them. And I find ice cream unbearably cold, it makes my throat physically hurt, unless it's pretty much melted. My wife finishes her cup of tea and tells me mine's gone cold - but it's still too hot for me.

And I don't have a big appetite at the best of times - I can easily skip meals and not care. If I'm honest, I don't much care about eating at all - it's just a chore I have to do to stay alive. If I could live on a magic nutrition pill a day, like in science fiction stories, I probably would.

I’m kind of with you on eating. I really enjoy a very good meal (rare beef filet, smoked pork ribs, etc). However, if there was a pill I could swallow instead of having to eat a “regular” meal, I’d take it.

Until we see Brighton put those points on the board against Newcastle and City, I still have hope for 6th. And if they do, fair play to them. 7th it is then.

Can you ship some of whatever you’re drinking to Minnesota?

Not to be a buzzkill lads, more a friendly heads up, but go into the pre-season friendlies expecting a crap match where the players barely show up.

I’ve been snared by that seeing Villa abroad a few times. Pre-season friendlies are exactly that. Plan on 3+ drinks before kick off.

And go to Rasika in DC for dinner. Unreal food.

It was that way in Minnesota when they came to play MN United. Basically played half the starters and half the backups the first half, then swapped everyone the second half. Whatever, it’s an opportunity to meet people and watch Villa.

This is good. Would be better with a collar. I think gold lettering on any sponsor is best. It adds a nice contrast. The W88 sponsor we had a few years back was gold and other than the weird shoulders, that was a great look. Also, look at what a huge difference the gold outline around the badge makes, as well as the Umbro branding. I really wish we had Umbro too because they get the shade of claret just right. Umbro claret doesn't look hot pink in direct bright sunlight, it remains dark.

I’m not certain, but I don’t think the “manufacturer” of our kits makes much of a difference right now in terms of nailing the shade of claret & blue. As long as we are still under the Fanatics deal, they are the ones actually producing our kits.

Surely the club have “official” shades of claret and blue - and if they don’t, they certainly will under the new brand launching in May (official colors are one of the most basic things about a brand). That being said, switching from Castore to Umbro (or whoever else) will do little to change the shirt colors, as long as the material of the shirts is still coming from Fanatics.

Probably one for the game’s gone thread. Just catching up on last week’s MOTD shows and noticed that when KDB scored the third against Arsenal, the stadium announcer got on the mic and started the ‘oh Kevin De Bruyne’ chant. Is that where they’re at now? A rich version of the Seattle Sounders?

    Embarrassing man.

If chelsea get their act together next season it might be easier winning the conference league to get into europa league rather than finishing top 6.

I think that’s going to be true the majority of years in the Prem. This year West Ham are in a PL relegation scrap and still breezed their group in the Conference.

  14. I married a graphic designer and find this sort of stuff really interesting.

my favorite part is reintroducing a deeper shade of yellow as an accent color. The current version is washed out, but a deep yellow pops with claret & blue. Would love to see the new yellow used as piping on a shirt, similar to how Liverpool used their YNWA green from their crest on a shirt a couple years ago.

Thanks for the league double stat, although it's very miserable, 1954, ffs! 😑

But "if we are fired up like we were against Newcastle"... exactly, if. And this is a big if. :s I really hope we will be but am worried about if we're not. For a start, v Newcastle was in front of our home crowd whereas on Sunday we'll be away. Plus Man U haven't lost at home in the league since last August (the opening day). The longest current unbeaten home run in the PL.

    1954!
