I don't understand how you can passionately support a team you have no actual connection with.
Aye I said it. Pashun!
Geographic proximity isn’t a prerequisite to form connections.

Given the season we're having, this one season badge might end up with a novel and important place in our history.
Thought the same. Glad I got a couple pieces with this badge on it.

No joke, I told Mrs. MNVillan after the match “if Villa win the title, we ARE going to Birmingham for the parade.”

Should I wear my lucky Villa boxers again on Saturday given that they are already soiled from Wednesday?
You took them off?

Born in the States (Indiana). Still live in the States (Washington DC area). Played footy all my life into college and was always a student/history type kid. In middle school, around 7th/8th grade (1987ish) read about Aston Villa and their history, league creator, founder, etc- really drew me in. Thought they had a cool name, colors, etc. Started using them in my video games, watching Villa on TV when they were on. Other high school footy friends were typical ManU, Liverpool, etc. But I liked Villa. I was the only one. Fast forward 35 years... I've been lucky enough to see them play twice in person when they have come to the States during preseason. Going to Villa Park one day is near the top of my bucket list.
I only have 2 sport passions in my life. Watching Aston Villa and my alma mater (Purdue). They keep me engaged year round! UTV
Purdue? Woof, you had a better Saturday than I did last weekend.

Even if the press aren't paying us much attention still, at least some other clubs' fans are. ZeeZeeTopFulham on the Guardian post match thread gets it:

Does it feel similar to Odyssey and Origins? Or more like AC 2 and 3?
Much more “original AC” feeling than the last 3 of Odyssey, Origins, & Valhalla. I’m not very far, but I get the sense it’s a dense, smaller map with emphasis on stealth instead of a sprawling world combat RPG

Has anyone else played Mirage? I’m just beginning and loving it so far.

It seems insane to me that if Villa are playing away and we're not on TV, the only Villa fans in the UK who can legally watch that game are the few thousand who have managed to get a ticket.
This has been the case for 4 out of our 8 games so far this season. It's infuriating, what decade are we in?
I'm sick and tired of dicking about with dodgy streams, I'll happily pay a tenner per game to be honest.
It’s easier for me to watch away matches in the US than it is for the supporter who lives down the street from Villa Park. Asinine.

Really sorry to hear this bud. How's your wife doing with it? Hopefully not blaming herself, over analysing or withdrawing into herself (I've seen that happen).
As you say, focus on the positive.
She’s devastated but not showing any signs of troubling behavior (our doctor gave us a booklet on what to look out for).
The first thing we were told is “neither of you are at fault, nothing you did caused this to happen.” It’s easy to ask what happened and get frustrated when the doctors don’t have an answer, but I think we both realize that this is part of life and honestly a fairly common occurrence.

Mrs MNVillan & I have been trying to get pregnant for a couple years without success. We weren’t sure it was even possible due to some intense chemotherapy she went through back in 2019.
We finally achieved pregnancy, but on Friday went in for an 8 week ultrasound and they could not detect a heartbeat. Needless to say, it has been a crushing blow to us. However, I do take a little solace in the fact that now we know getting pregnant is a possibility.

I’d say I’m surprised that I can’t order a shirt with the UECL badge on it via the online store, but sadly I’m not.
-
Why does Great British Baking Show take place in a tent?
-
Want a shirt with the Conference League badge, but the ECL badge isn’t a customizable option online. An AVFC store rep said they can’t guarantee it will ever be available.
I’m proud we’re in Europe and want something to commemorate our first European Tour since I started following, but alas.

I’m bummed, I usually get a pair of shorts. Really like the goalkeeper shorts this year, but green & black have both been sold out for a while in XL. I’m surprised it’s taking this long for a restock (if there is one).

Given that alcohol is the most harmful drug of all then why is it legal when many of the other drugs are illegal?
"Alcohol is the most dangerous drug in the UK by a considerable margin, beating heroin and crack cocaine into second and third place".
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2010/nov/01/alcohol-more-harmful-than-heroin-crack
History. Alcohol has been relatively ubiquitous in most society for thousands of years. Wine is in the Bible.
Synthetic drugs, on the other hand, are a more recent “invention.”

Wow. 60-80. But at least you were drinking less than Adrian Chiles! And Slash and Duff McCagan from Guns n' Roses! And all three are still alive. Chiles got away with it somehow, his doctor told him luckily he just had a fatty liver but that he'd have soon developped liver disease/sclerosis if he'd kept on with 80-100 some weeks.
Well now and then I have had as much as 35 or 40 in a week in the last ten years. And that amount was quite common for me throughout my 20s. I remember counting 42 one week. (42, the meaning of life!) But rather than the recommended weekly limit it's much more with the daily one that I go off the rails... in other words binges. And there have been hundreds and hundreds of them throughout my adult life. That must have been/must be really bad for my health. I'm a classic binge drinker, like far too many Brits are. My binges are usually 9 or 10 units (a bottle of red wine, my favourite drink). But occasionally when I've felt particularly anxious and stressed I have used up my weekly units 'allowance' (14) in just one night. This happened last Tuesday. A big binge, like a youngster on a Friday night in the 1990s. Except that I'm not young anymore, I'm 49 ffs! :s
Anyway, nearly three months now, well done, I'm glad for you The last time I went two months on the wagon was the start of last year.
"Badgers??? ...... ... ... We don't need no stinkin' badgers !!!"
An average night for me was 6-8 beers. A heavy night was 10. A day off was 12-14.
It was more than just the amount though. I was hiding my drinking, waking up in the morning trying to think about how long until I could “acceptably” drink, etc.
I don’t have a crazy rock bottom story like some do (I never ended up in jail, got a DUI, etc). My life got pretty grim though, I was consumed by alcohol. I do not recommend it.

9 hours ago, robby b said:On the plus side personally is that I think my weekly average in the last ten years or so has been around 23 units, not as extreme as some people. I have the impression a few VTers may have more than that. Adrian Chiles admitted he drank a huge 80-100 units some weeks until recently! Until he made that brave BBC documentary.
Where I'm more harmful to myself is the daily amount... in the last 20 years, with the exception of 2012 and 2018, on average about twice a month I've been having about 9 or 10 units in one session (e.g. a whole bottle of wine) and that's more than twice the recommended daily limit of 4 units. Occasionally I've gone a bit mad and even had between 11 and 15 units in a sesh, now and then involving some spirit or other, wholly or partly. :s Like one day last week when I had a very stressful situation suddenly... it was soon followed by a really regrettable Famous Grouse and red wine combination. :s (Not a strange cocktail but one and then the other!)
I think it might be good in the UK to raise the legal age from 18 to 19, so somewhere between the UK system and the US one as a compromise. That way youngsters can still have plenty of fun including some alcohol but it would perhaps stop quite a lot of 18-year-olds from going too mad in their first term or two at uni, to keep the brakes on a little longer.
I wonder if there perhaps could be more education around the issue in secondary schools too, I don't know, but having said all that I have read that the current young generation are drinking significantly less alcohol than my generation, well done to them, respect !
I was going through 60-80 units per week, if that makes you feel any better.
I went through treatment in late May - early June and have now been sober 74 days. It’s not easy, but my life has changed in only 2.5 months. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat.

As others have mentioned, it’s stuck between being a clean look and being “so bad it’s good.”
I don’t mind it for a third shirt, but if we’re going the “weird” route, let’s get WEIRD with it.
