  1. Im not so sure I actually want us to win the league, but hear me out

I genuinely believe the excitement would be too much for my body to take in ultimately leading to severe health issues , i would not be able to handle that my much joy .

is this not okay or can everyone understand 😂

I would be bouncing off the walls because this is one thing you dream of but you are certain it wont happen, fa cups and europe is one thing but the league! Wow

Apparently, Manure are going to cancel the Amrabat loan. Could we take that on? Surely a better DM alternative than Dendoncker?

Not sure what would be involved (inc cost and wages) but just something that caught my eye and a random suggestion. Has been highly rated for a while but I don’t know the terms on which Fiorentina allowed supposedly such an important player to leave…

I really do think proper cover or competition for Bouba (our only quality out and out DM) would be really helpful.

In the meantime, I suppose we will return to the Luiz and McGinn double pivot (should be good, both are so much better now too) while he is suspended but… we could do with options and the ability to rest players and play them in their best/preferred positions.

John is one booking away from a suspension too… really hope he doesn’t miss that Boxing Day game - we need him.

Oh Bouba… why did you have to get yourself sent off? 🤦‍♂️

I just feel, with Dendoncker’s limitations and Tielemans performing better in an attacking role, that we are light in central midfield and that could cause issues… we want to keep our better players relatively fresh and in form too rather than risking burning anyone out. McGinn’s energy is crucial…

Maybe one or two intelligent loans alongside a permanent signing would be a good approach…

Regardless, I’m not concerned as I’m confident we will only sign players that Unai himself wants and sees fitting into and helping the team/squad. We will do what is right…

Glad our owners are nothing like people like Boehly and have given Unai control and freedom rather than interference…

We won’t be reckless or waste money but… the right signings could give us a real boost and keep the “Villa Engine” running smoothly 😂

We could do with someone better and more adept than Cash…

I don’t know about up front… I have to be honest and say that I like Duran and there are players such as Zaniolo (will improve further) and Diaby (will rediscover form and be a real asset) that could cover Ollie… decent CFs are so difficult to find these days.

A top class LW could really enhance us though… give Ramsey time to rediscover full fitness & form.

Competition is healthy too… look at what has happened to Bailey and Digne & Moreno…

It’s so good to have the ability to do business from a position of strength, a good time and opportunity to help us continue to move in the right direction…

We are surely a much more attractive proposition now too so players who may not have considered us or had second thoughts previously may reconsider now…

Amrabat no chance, if i didn’t think he was nowhere near good enough for them at the time of signing then he's not good enough for us… not sure how players like that are ending up at United but im all for it 👍🏽… at the moment Cash, zaniolo and as it stands JJ are our weakest points in the team so we should be looking at bringing in someone for at least one of those positions

I agree with you.  I think that Emery (and Monchi) will back themselves to find really good players in that price bracket and then turn them into players with a value in the second bracket - rather than going straight for the "elite" priced players.  If so then it is still represents really good value for money.  Also I think Emery wants players who put the team first and buy into his approach - which is generally a little bit easier to do if you are giving a player their big break rather than signing players who already believe that they are world class.

I believe that Emery and Monchi want to build a legacy in the style of Wenger's Arsenal or to an extent Ferguson's United.  Taking a club like Villa and turning them into genuine contenders is (I believe) more important to them than winning trophies with clubs like City, PSG, Real Madrid, etc.  Similarly, I think they take great pride in seeing good players develop into great players - you can kind of tell that Emery loves McGinn and Luiz because he's got that pushy father type vibe when praising them "Yeah they were great today but it's about getting to the next level now".  So I'm 100% sure the bulk of our transfers this window and going forwards will be done with that in mind.  However, like you say a £5m player of 3 or 4 seasons ago is now more likely to be a £30-40m player.

Yeah I agree it’s looking for those Doku potential type players at around 25-30m mark and then watch them flourish into a 55m-65m in a season or two, thats what we need to try and identify. Would love Nico Williams here so much go and pay whatever it is

So my daughters boyfriend (age 19) comes from a Villa family but has been a Man United fan since childhood, as per many many from his generation.

Anyway he's now decided to ditch United and announced himself a Villa Fan.

Putting aside if we actually want a fan like that, it's a great illustration of where we are.

For years we've lost so many fans like that to the Sky 4 /6.  They've sucked away what would be our fans due to their "celebrity" status coupled with our poor state.

So I think we could be at a watershed here. Stop hemorrhaging fans to celebrity clubs, because we're actually becoming one and also maybe attracting new fans elsewhere in The UK and around the world.

Make no mistake, if our trajectory continues and especially if we can cement Champions League and for a few years we WILL attract plastics.

Imagine some dad in Stockport or somewhere devastated because his sons decided he's a Villa Fan and wants a McGinn shirt for Christmas.

It's going to be a bumpy ride for many die hard Villa fans 😂

I love this and no disrespect to you but who cares! We the real fans know what it actually means by the goosebumps we get when our team steps out onto that pitch , many supporters of these hyped clubs majority wont feel that, when you’ve suffered for as long as we have the excitement when things go right are unmatched and theres no better feeling!.

We dont want any fans on board that wont feel what we do and we all know that feeling somehow i dont think fans from those top clubs feel it because theyve been so bloody spoiled

Zaniolo has contributed significantly in last two games. I was particularly impressed with his coolness re coming on into that storm at Brentford. He was the senior pro that took much needed sting out at very important points or it could have ended even worse than the Kamara red card.

Hopefully this is the start of an upward trajectory as he needs to show much more but at least some positive signs are emerging.

Nah don’t be fooled yes better performances but overall not great, gave him more time than I expected but many fans are easy on him been largely wasteful and awol in games, but hey what do i know if it was down to me bailey and mcginn would have been sold in last jans window 😂 now i cant stop singing them praise, but with zaniolo i just dont think he has the athleticism for this league

  6. Don’t for one second think that Emery won’t be signing at least one player in Jan given the position that we’re in, as that would be borderline insanity, he will know whats missing and the type of personnel required for that position.

We just need to sit back and enjoy the show

I didn't think we needed to sign anyone, but I am now of the opinion that our most urgent signing is a RB if the right one is available.

I'm a Matty Cash fan, but I think he's reached his limits and I feel he stands out a bit now in the team as not being as fluid and switched on as the others.

Yeah him and zaniolo not up to speed at all

I think we need to think where Emery wants the versatility in the squad. I think Pau is a LB/LCB and Konsa RB/RCB in a functional back 3 in possession. For this to work we need an attacking RB/RM who has similar profile to Moreno on left. If we play a CB at full back we play an attacking full back ahead of him on that side.

I also feel we need a right footed winger / versatile forward. It depends where Buendia fits in, I think he's best as the s/s dropping off Watkins into the 10 position. His workrate and skilled passing would be perfect in a high press role there. So we would have him as competition for Diaby there.

LM has JJ really, I think McGinn or Zaniolo there isn't the natural place for them. So a right footed winger could operate well here and give us options.

For me the squad changes would be out Chambers, Dendonker, Traore - replace them with attacking RB, a Right footed winger/ wide forward and ball winning 6.

I'm still worried by losing Watkins, I think either the right footed winger / forward is capable of leading line if needed or we find or loan in an experienced striker.

We need to move Olsen on too and replace.

I think diaby/bailey cover that right side but what would massively improve us is the side where JJ and zaniolo play on that left if we can bring in someone there who is able to perform at a higher level we will put ourselves in a great position and believe me watkins is going anywhere

  9. As well as the mega plans to rebuild the north stand, we may aswell refurbish the interior of the rest of the stands, toilets, waiting areas, refreshment parts and so on, that needs to be modernised and freshened up i think we all can agree.

  10. Was quite sceptical about this Heck fella, listened to him today and i feel assured because even though i want us to rebuild that North Stand and turn it into a modern infrastructure I understand when he says lets not disrupt what we got going on the pitch and he is absolutely spot on, i would said the lockdown year would have been the best ever time to have done this but it what it is.

  11. I dont even think the extra 10,000 seats was enough and probably slightly more , ideally I’d say 54,000 just so we can sit at the big boys table when it comes to stadiums, i know we still can as we are iconic and our stadium is magnificent and im not just saying that because it’s my club it really is unique and grand 💜

  12. I genuinely believe we are a Nico Williams and a Right back away from keeping ourselves up there in the current mix for a title surge, we are in an unbelievable position but one extra player can boost us, Ramsey and Zaniolo on that side of the field don't quite push us there and i feel if we had that spark in that area we would be in an outstanding position.

Our record away at Brentford is pretty awful. We aren't particularly good away from home either as is and then add to that we've got Dougie missing.

    Would take a point honestly.

Villa have never this and villa have never that…. PROFESSOR EMERY is all i need to say previous stats and records matter not with this man in charge 🤝

    However I’ll take a draw 🤣

If we win most of them which we're capable of we'll be on 60-61 points. Do that and we'd probably make top 4 with less than a point a game from that point.

To actually win the league we'd probably then need to win 9 of our last 11...

Will require 70 points i reckon  for top four thats got to be the aim so roughly

    11 wins more

    5 draws more

    total wins=22 wins

  15. Wow just wow is all i can say been a busy weekend so no chance to jump on here but these players are playing absolutely remarkable, yes looked tired this time round to be expected, was shaky when Konsa came off , Dendocker coming on made me more shaky, did some well time tackles but also gave the ball away sloppily, Mcginn was electrifying and the Youri x Leon link up play is top class , level of understanding within this team and the way the ball is worked up the pitch is glorious to watch.

Ty (arsenal fan tv) is a b**tard he wanted us relegated last time around but look what we gave him , thing is i dont mind arsenal but their fans are the most annoying spoilt entitled w**kers.

15 in a row is remarkable and I celebrated that win like never before just exploded in joy at that full time whistle.

Jesus has made the most of it 100%, but I don't think we could have had many complaints if that was given.

As you said, if it was Watkins at the other end we'd have been fuming if that wasn't given

Id say we should be thanking jesus for giving us such a good run and magnificent week… Amen? 🫡

Very interesting this… look any competition that we are in i want us to win and get as far as possible including conference, i will celebrate any trophy but for me the conference is not that special and as a club of our stature ive always felt we should be aiming for the proper established competitions regardless of how we have been as a club for the past 20 years. I look at the conference league like a father stopping his 4 yr old child from scoring against him in the living room and the child getting frustrated so he moves one of the posts further out wide to make it easier for him to score … that’s exactly what i think about this competition it was created to give those that cant get europa or champions league a chance and i feel like i want to earn it the hard away but completely understand that fans will want to lift a trophy but thats how i see it.

On the other hand  a champions league place would be a dream come true for me and if we can win a FA cup that would be incredible that has more weight in gold than the conference to me i can assure ya.

We are Aston Villa we dream big!!

  19. Huge result that im still buzzing over but even though it was more dominant than the 7-2 against liverpool i have to say that match is the best result I’ve ever witnessed especially as my brother is a liverpool fan who for so many bloody years has so much to celebrate about and they always get the better of us so it was refreshing as f**k to beat them by that many goals 😊.

But beating City last night is right up there without a doubt and look the 3-1 against United at villa park could even match that because for as long as o can remember I was dying for us to end that record and thats another team everyone around me supported so that meant everything and it was the professor’s first game in charge😆.

I cant explain and put into words how much relief these latest victories over the last few years have meant because it feels like we’ve never been able to do this in the 2000’s and early 2010’s but lets keep going and keep racking up results.
