Thought Bremen already "accepted" our offer so what are we talking about?

Were they insulted that we never tested their resolve, and prepared before we launched it?

Thats what I thought also .. seems to be a lot of backstepping updates. And then i see deal for Traore may be going ahead i pray that doesn’t go through

Thank you very much.. 👍🏽 Not sure why they thought personally attacked but anyway we are all holte enders at the end of the day

Ideally after getting Rashica, Martinez and another forward we’ll get a CM and CB to compete with Konsa.

I think we’ll definitely get the CM which for me is more pressing but in a perfect world we would get an experienced defender in as well.

I think rashica could be that new forward stroke winger, i hope so because then we could bring in another winger.

I’ve a feeling that you’re here looking for an argument. Or you’re on the wind up. Either way, I’ve said my piece so I’ll leave it at that.

No i just want to talk about the football which i have done .. believe it or not i want everyone to be on the same page. Im here to discuss moving forward as a club together as fans .

They made very good use of a market we dont have a foot in the door with, there agent did a good job for Wolves and the right type of players were there at the right time for them.

Not as simple by just saying wolves got good signings why cant we and they had less rep than us, that is not true when there super agent had tons of rep himself.

They made great use of the market , so surely it’s possible with our new owners and the powers they have to accommodate a man similar to a Jorge Mendez to scour the leagues and bring in the right players that fit. Plus our rich history and famous name in the footballing world should do half the job anyway .. well maybe im being too hopeful there . I hope that soon we have something like that in place to bring us to that next level.

that midfield is too weak/lightweight imo.

we need to invest in the best possible MC we can get, someone who can play, but also do the dirty work/tracking back (ideally).

I would almost be tempted to have Luiz & McGinn as the more box to box type MCs, and have a new DM, but would be ok with Luiz as the DM and a new all rounder alongside McGinn.

the front 3 for me should be Grealish (L), Watkins (S), and a new RW/IF - possibly Rashica, Buenida, King, Cantwell, Bnerahma or whomever.

We were too easy to play through last season, having some solidity in the midfield 3 is really important.

I agree mate but i dont think they will bring someone in too shift that but i have put new CM on the bench as that player would be eased in but last time i replaced one of these players everyone had a stroke.

No, your post was ridiculously pessimistic, and definitely deserving of being challenged. You were also laughing at people who thought we were going to do well, you see? People aren’t being emotional, they’re being rational.

It was challenged in a very childish manner... stick to the football as thats all i mentioned but dont get upset about it and send silly memes , write back and tell me why you dont agree .. dead simple

So why kind sir is your post any more realistic than our our replies to you 🤣

And what is wrong with Traore or King, remember Smith may know how exactly he wants to utilise those players.

We are not settling for whatever we can get at all, that is you coming to conclusions and saying everyone is on the same level of thinking.

Unfortunately all our opinions are overlooked and with ease as well, we do not work for Villa and we dont have any involvement within the club, we just talk around here, have a laugh and be daft.

So you think if we sign King or Traore then we will go through what we went through last season, which I assume your saying is a relegation battle?? I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but I do not think we would at all. Having King and Traore would still be massive improvements over Samatta, Trezegeut, Ghazi.

Im not sure it does and many may agree and many may not but i dont see king and traore being a huge improvement especially the latter.. it may be slightly but not huge and we need more than slightly to put us more at ease. Yes it appears to be the case that alot of us are content with the window if such signings are successful.. its better me throwing that caution then for others to think we will be okay when we wont .. anyway the window is not finished and im hoping we can all be on the same page when its concluded with the right players in

I think it’s because your posts appear to be searching for a cloud while ignoring the sunshine currently blazing down on VP. You say realistic, I say absurdly pessimistic. But each to their own.

I didn’t exactly say bring in lionel messi .. dont see what the problem is im just trying to show others how we can see things differently. Wolves made the right signings with a less reputation than ours so im not exactly asking for too much and besides some of the players we are looking at im fine with

Your post was bordering on taking the p***. Just because someone’s opinion is different to yours doesn’t give you the right to ridicule if. That’s why you got the response from posters that you did.

I didn’t ridicule anything i simply shed some light on what we should be looking for, its called awareness.. people need to stop getting emotional and stop looking for any opportunity to divide fans. Im all about the football (nothing personal) and more importantly the club of Aston Villa .. have a good day 👍🏽

  11.                             Martinez

    Cash          Konsa          Mings       Targett

                                    Luiz

                         Mcginn      Grealish

        Rashica                                  Benrahma

                                 Watkins

P.s with Grealish much more further up but hard to do on phone.

Subs:  Heaton, Hause, Trezeguet, Nakamba,New Cm, Wesley, ??

That would see us more in the top 12 comfortably

    shut up

So this is the response for being more realistic about how we operate as a club and fans it shows why we are in this position if fans like you are settling for whatever you get. I stated my opinions which should not be overlooked. I would welcome signings like rashica but not so much for traore or king is there anything wrong with that . Martinez would be welcome but theres a caution sign with that also we seem to think these signings will change the world. So im not trying to burst everyones bubble ,im just being realistic and i want us to not go through the stress we did last season.

This is exactly what im thinking!

Traore ,Watkins, Rashica and you guys are getting excited 😂 Traore is bang average why are we getting happy with seeing him in the side, hopefully he isnt the addition that we bring in. Martinez isn’t exactly this world class keeper that we think he is because he came from arsenal.. check his career history (not knocking him btw) but lets just be more cautious before we get too optimistic. Especially when i see on twitter the combo of watkins + rashica will get us europa league 😂 lets not embarrass ourselves. We seem to be drooling over these potential line ups which to me still we have us in the bottom half easily.

We pretty much only have 1 wide player of PL standard and that's Grealish who some want to move into CM (I don't) so just like in January and since the wide position really needs to be addressed.

Getting a quality RW with pace is still the most important issue. Fail to do that and we will 100% be in a relegation fight again. Trez, ElGhazi and Jota are not good enough.

Unless we get a top quality AMC then i don't want us to play Grealish on the left . I would rather us get a dazzling LW and move Grealish into the central role across the middle. Rashica or Benrahma i feel it may be one of the two well i hope so as I'm not keen on anyone else we have been linked to.

The “who would you have instead” discussion I’m not so good at but I do follow football passionately across the PL like most on here and when we are linked with players I love finding out about them, reviews, character about them over the years from various sources.  YouTube clips are one thing but comments about players at the time of selling are always biased one way or another so I don’t hold them in such high regard.  So I read a lot of older reviews, articles and analyses when they are just talking about the player with no thought of selling.  These articles sometimes come from people close at the club, where players have gone on loan, coaching and management staff talking about the player over the years.

In regards to Origi, he’s certainly has had some high points.  Reading reviews though of him over the years seem to suggest issues with his character that he’ll have a spell where he is great but then a much longer spell when he’s awful.  There were discussions around whether that was because he’s been used as an impact sub but reviews seem to suggest the other way that he’s a sub because he has spells where he doesn’t get after it.  Some suggest that’s because he hasn’t had a proper run, others highlight to his great start at Wolfsburg on loan where he was great for the first 10 games then awful for the next 20 games.

Seem to be whether he’s wanting it, a character floor that I want to stay away from.  I don’t want a player that looks good on a highlights clip....I remember the days of Collymore lazing his way around the Villa park turf with only occasional magic.  We, as a team, can’t afford a luxury player like that, that can disappear for a large number of games so for me Origi is a No.  It’s also interesting that no other club has really had any other serious interest in him despite some of the highlights he’s done.

Okay so you have more of a insight to his track record in the past which isn't of course the finished article of a player very much capable of showing he would certainly be a regular for a top half side IMO... mix that with games that you see him enthusiastic in and im sure you wouldn’t say hes worth bringing in. Certain players with the same talent id say no to but hes not a player that has this lazy attitude IMO or I would advise against it. I cant think of any other player that we could get at this current time with the same talent he has from any of those top clubs.

He can also prove to everyone while playing for us what hes really capable of and hes only 25

Yeah okay so you dont feel Origi would perform well at VP fair enough.. i cant see it myself based on how he can play he will do hundred times better than any of our current selection and can play Wing and centre forward which would be fantastic for us as we would get two in one. Benrahma would certainly be able to perform at this level so just like you im surprised nobody has launched a bid and ill be disappointed to see him go to another club other than us. Josh king doesn’t show any direction as far as im concerned it would not be a signing getting my stamp of approval but as you said its not our say so ill just wait and see what happens.

@nick76 Just out of curiosity could you name any forward players with that versatility that you would prefer to Origi i’m just intrigued to what other options are currently better than him based on the price he is being offered for and the experience he has plus the age factor as he is only 25?

I have my eyes on Buendia for the right hand side. Something like:

                                  Watkins

    Rashica                Grealish              Buendia

                      Luiz                     McGinn

    Targett          Mings        Konsa         Cash

                                 Martinez

That would be the most creative team in the league after Man City. A joy to watch. Bring in a Grujic as a rotation option to our midfield and to makes us more resilient against the top sides and King as a rotation option for our attack and a left back and we are potentially a top 6 chasing side!

Lay off the spice arr lad 😂

So because I don’t agree with you I haven’t analysed Origi before saying no thanks.  I have analysed him a lot and decided No we shouldn’t sign him just I had analysed Schick and said I would sign him but he chose Bayer.  Just as I have analysed Josh King and said No.  Anyway it’s not our say we just have to go with who they do choose but apart from a few links about a month ago the Origi link has gone nowhere.

I think we’ll buy Rashica hopefully but then the second position they seem to be focused on another forward so Benrhama looks like he’s not on the wish list.  It does seem weird nobody is really in for him....rumours of us, West Ham even Chelsea but he seems not on our list if we get Rashica, West Ham only have money for the Burnley defender and Chelsea haven’t taken the move forward and doubt they will with their players on the books.  I did read an article where is was proposed that maybe clubs don’t think his skills will translate to the PL especially for the price.  While I don’t agree, if his tricks were stifled it would restrict him but we won’t know until he steps up. I think he’ll do alright but it’s strange that it maybe the second season where he doesn’t get picked up by a PL club.....still time though.

Lots of talk of midfielders. I think we need one because...

    • Hourihane and Nakamba shouldn't be starting unless they've improved massively over the summer; they are part of plan B (need a goal) and plan C (need to protect a lead) from the bench in my opinion
    • Jack may play the CAM role, but may be deployed in the wide forward position again, so we need another player to retain the flexibility
    • McGinn runs around like a lunatic, and will need to be rotated/rested from time to time otherwise he will get burnt out, like he was before his injury last season
    • Luiz is still young, and was great for 10 nines; again we may need to rotate to keep him fresh, or if he has a loss of form
    • We're rich!

Thank you this is exactly whats needed as we cant bank on those throughout the season we will need options of the same or higher quality.

Why McGinn on subs bench, that's not right..

Our bench already looks brilliant there without Ghazi on it 🤣

Mcginn is one of our best players however the last part of the season he didnt look like he was involved in most of them games and  we could be gambling relying on him solely to come good again ... so id try and get a CM to compete with him not so much replace him in essence as i think Mcginn is a class player. I just think we can introduce him back in slowly as i dont want us to get murdered in the middle of the park. Even Luiz is risky as he was missing throughout the majority of the season .. we hope he continues where he left off and we shouldn’t write off nakamba he just needs coaching because he has the ability
