  1. Same here mate lol Just popped back in to wish you all the best for Monday against FLDCFC Play like you can, I honestly don't see a problem, you have the players....on top of that I would rather have Leeds (falling apart again) and FLDCFC down here again next year rather than you lot...No offense..but Leeds obviously fall apart and Derby have one good season then a shocker... Selling your ground I hear?...us too....Its bloody ridiculous isn't it...Both me favourite grounds up for auction! Any road up...Give 'em hell on Monday and hopefully see you seen
  2. Last post...Leave you in peace to fight it out. We were shocking yesterday, caught between two stools really....should have gone for it more, didn't have the ammo. Anyhow...Good luck in the run in Villa. As I said earlier I would rather you be down here for purely selfish reasons....but it would only make it harder for us next year I suppose. I might pop back if you get The Blades in the play offs... and I'll settle for a winner worse than Withes for that Seriously though...Best of luck
  3. All we need to do now is beat Leeds away and bristol City at home...all we had to do last week was beat you lot, then Forest, the fact we did "half a job" leaves us in a bit of a quandary... Those Owls fans who have "given up the ghost" aren't too bothered if Leeds beat us...cos of The Blades...I'm for going for it until its an impossibility, no matter how improbable. An ideal situation would be us to beat Leeds, Blades lose...you beat City then we beat City on Easter Monday...any other scenario really puts us out of it. Its going to be a pretty exciting last few games anyhow, thats the championship all over,. I reckon Wednesday have the most difficult run in, and its Wednesday who need the most points...Got Leeds, Bristol city, preston and Norwich to play..probably beat them then lose 0-5 at home to QPR and dip out...Its the Wednesday way
  4. Absolutely..You "take" them...you are left with Blue...not a problem
  5. Rest Grealish tonight he looked tired second half at Hillsborough..McGinn looked a bit "wan" as well..rest him...Mings looked rather pale..rest him tonight... You need these players against Bristol City..Who I will allow you to beat We will then reciprocate by beating Bristol City on Easter Monday...(promise) Further instructions will follow..All these instructions will allow Wednesday and your good selves to reach the play offs, then devil take the hindmost You know it makes sense...
  6. Westwood and Hutchinson surprisingly got fit as soon as that idiots train left midland station mate...............
  7. Great player Mings...I sorta watched him a lot last Saturday cos of his remarkable resemblance to our Michael Hector...They had a spat in front of the Kop first half and it was like watching siamese twins wrestling . Thought Grealish had a good game, but we gave him too much space....McGinns equaliser was exceptional, the only place he could put it, was where he put it. Managers having a dig at fans, is always stupid..We have a Chairman who tends to be totally surprised that Sheffield isn't the same as Kensington...and why yer average ex steelworker is now not the head of BMW and can't actually afford the POTG prices. Yep..Villa are certainly resilient...Well you called it resilient at Hillsborough...
  8. Would have to be the first one wouldn't it mate ..or sweet revenge for Saturday ( I apologise for not marking posts up...I don't seem to have the capability yet)
  9. No doubt mate...I'll take your word for it....but you have to take into account expectation.... Villa have only recently dropped out of he top flight and the pressure for an immediate return while the parachute payments last is immense.. Wednesday a few months ago looked like leaving the league in the opposite direction, so everything is more or less gravy in the run in this year. No doubt Villa fans feel a sort of "right of passage"..So you should when you take the size of your club and fanbase into account...I felt much the same about Wednesday when we dipped down... It no longer works like that.. If Villa make the play offs, which I reckon you will...given your support and players like Grealish and McGinn..I would back you against anyone... but its not those games you have to be wary of in the championship...Its games like tomorrow night at Rotherham, They are an awful side to play, its a tight ground ..its almost like a legoland thingy...It feels strange..even when you are stood in it, you sorta don't expect football players to trot out...any road up...you will see tomorrow... All we have to do is beat Leeds away next..bloody doddle down here eh ?
  10. Look at us still hanging around like a that "Funny odour" you just can't put yer finger on
  11. When we beat Man utd in the league cup final 1991 Yorkshire television ..cut short the post match celebrations t and went over to "War of the monster trucks"...............Honest I was on me way home from Wembley..totally p *ssed... staggered in the door ..The wife said..."You're not going to like this" I said "You forgot to tape it didn't you..You had strict instructions..Win..save the tape ..lose...just delete the sodding thing" "I taped it....but you aren't going to be happy" So you know when youve had a few and you sorta watch it through one eye..cos its somehow easier?..I dunno the mechanics of the thing...but you do I watch it...Sheridan scores for Wednesday..then its all about holding on...We do..The ref blows the whistle....then..... Theres just this big red f.ook off truck running over..some other trucks....I scream "What in the name of f.............." The wife shouts from upstairs "Told ya!"
  12. I tip my hat mate...32k watching that The 50k at Hillsborough was in '79 was even more remarkable by the fact there was a bus strike and most walked to the ground....(4-0 Wednesday) I might add There aren't many if any clubs that would average over 30k in the 3rd division..and your Arsenals, Spurs, Evertons, Man utds?..never been tested have they? You can drop out for a year..keep constant...Have a few years of it..it tests you... 20 years near enough now for us...I'm 61..So will probably have tipped me toes up when some bloody geographically challenged shiek wanders into North Sheffield askin' "Is this the way to Knightsbridge?"
  13. We're happy with him...but speaking in relative terms, after the last incumbent we had I would have taken most anyone. To be fair..I know exactly how Villa fans feel...I was the same when we went down...You HAVE to get back..."This isn't good enough, "..That isn't good enough" Thats 2 bloody decades ago though lads... Wednesday went down without parachute payments, there was no cushion, there was no longer any sort of "Automatic" right to get back. Lets be honest...Ive stated on a thread in the Match thread... Years ago when Wednesday and Villa were fighting it out in the 70's..in the "Old" 3rd division...You virtually knew one or the other, probably both would get back up.. Too big not to Its a totally different kettle of fish these days... West Ham ? 50'000 crowds...?..Do me a favour..its tourism, but its London..Its different Man City?..I agree their fans stayed constant like Villa and Wednesday in their dark days..but THAT amount of money?..its different I can remember Chelsea getting 16 or 17k..A lot less than Villa and Wednesday. .Now?...sell outs....money , london ..tourism So ..yea we have Steve Bruce...No doubt he'll get sacked outta impatience as it goes wrong next season, and we hope for some miraculous appointment..cos it will have to be that..We haven't the money, cos its not funded by gates anymore..its not about passion, its about cash. The peripheral nature of the way football fans are treated these days, does my head in...Chelsea away in the cup the other month..Owls fans sell out...Then the fixtures moved to 6 pm..I've bought a ticket..I'm f.ooked ..last train home 9 pm...wife picks me up in Watford at 11 pm..I mean Jesus christ!...jumping through hoops for folk that can't even be bothered to attend!? I'm a dinosaur I admit..and all me arguments might mean bugger all to most..but its not a level playing field.. Take yourselves..When Villa won the European cup with that shocking goal from Withe ..........................................only kiddin' It wasn't sculpted by a financier who suddenly decided to inject millions in..It was ground out by ardent fans who turned up in numbers through years of crap in the 3rd division...who bankrolled the club when it was crap..thats a victory, thats fair , thats a level playing field.. US?????????????..Wednesday qualify for Europe...???..English clubs get sodding banned..don't get me started FFS! I'm not a football fan...I'm a Wednesday fan..I would sit outside Hillsborough if you could guarantee me a win..in off an offside stray dog in the last minute ..honest When I was a kid, and football was proper football there was an old bloke who always stood in front of me on a crash barrier on the Eastbank..the most pessimistic bugger I ever saw... When the teams trotted out, first game of a new hopeful season..he would say "Here they bloody come"..Like he had just been given a death sentence I'm him now
  14. To carry on..and I know I'm probably overstaying me welcome... I always liked watching Villas games on the telly as well..cos something ALWAYS happens..for good or bad...it never seems boring....(I'm sure you can tell me different) Your game against The Blades at Villa park this season...? I sat there thinking "Villa can do these buggers"..Our season was in meltdown and second best was someone spoiling Uniteds party. Lo and behold..your name was mud in our house....I went out to prat about in the shed....then the lad texts... "VILLA!!!". .He's a mad Owl so I did one thing right....(or wrong.... if you happen to be in the NSPCC) So in I rushes just in time to see the equaliser... So like I said earlier I'll be sorry to see you go..You have a right chance now..similar to what Fulham did the other season, the team with impetus...We crawled into the play offs in league 2 a few years ago, by going on a similar run....took the promotion spot from United with a similar run in a couple of years later after dropping down again by going 19 unbeaten..its quite probable but... If worst comes to worst? See you next season
  15. Playing fields changed Marv....When Wednesday left the Prem there were no parachute payments Its a totally different animal. My first trips to Villa park were in the 70's...(Yea I'm old)....In those days you only had to look at the grounds and the crowds to know such as Villa and Wednesday would be back.. In fact daft as it sounds, I may have stood on the Holte end before a lot posting on here did...Came against Crystal palace...I think in 72 or maybe 3...It was a second replay after draws at Hillsborough and Selhurst, we were in the 3rd..Palace in the first (Old money)..took about 15000 so we got the Holte, bloody epic game we came from behind to win 3-2, I was about 14 and thought at the time there was only Hillsborough and a couple of other grounds that were big..Went down there with my uncle , marvellous end to stand on. Obviously I went first chance I got again...had to stand on the opposite terrace and watch you lot win again a couple of times...Then If I remember correctly in the following couple of years I watched you lot run around the pitch at Hillsborough celebrating getting out of the bloody mess. But that was always going to happen in those days..Wednesday were getting 20k in the 3rd..Villa I believe got up towards 30...We once got going up towards 30k for a night game against Southend..had to win to stay outta the 4th FFS! These days ?..one "shiek" of a lambs tail...you're in the Prem..Fans mean next to nowt That "Big Ron /Francis game?..same again mate wasn;t it?..Wednesday cruising...you come crashing back..great game though (especially Hirsts goal lol) Then Big Ron returned..Everyone cheered him...I stood on the Eastbank and pouted like a wife watchin' her husband come home from the pub....He kept us up against the odds...then we sacked him out of pure revenge... shot ourselves in the foot..and still limp to this day Some good games between the two sides though..can't ever remember a boring one
  16. Think you lot spoiled the party for that one Marv lol Nah, it was a bit of a pipe dream for Owls fans. Wednesday have wasted half the season on playing several players who should never have been anywhere near the first team, while leaving several out who were shoe-ins, through the stubborness of an idiot of a manager. So..save yourselves!!!...We are out of it, Bannan now injured, and sadly our reliance on that one player has not helped us this year...At one point the crowd used to go mental at other players cos they passed it to him while he was on the sodding floor, it was getting ridiculous. Be 20 years for us down here and lower next season, you lads take your chance while you have it....its slowly wearing and every time you get near and miss out it tears a bit more outta you. FFP won't help us next season, we have to get players off the books, the chairman will carry on with his ridiculous pricing regime while espousing that the money that comes through the gate makes no impact...which begs the sodding question "Why charge so much then?" Still they all whitter that "The Championship" is the best league in the world, don't they....Ever tried asking for a swap? lol
  17. Fair play yesterday...I thought Wednesday were the better team second half...but you have to take your chances...We didn't..you did...Hands up, fair enough. Heres where we might well fall out though... I don't want Villa to go up...Wednesday have been stuck down here for 20 years..Villa have dipped their toes in...and are in with a chance of going up, while probably turning our hopes into ashes...again but its not that...Its not actually that which makes me hope you stay down...Its simply seeing the Leppings lane end full of passionate supporters, and having owt like an atmosphere. I can remember you lads coming when you went up from the old 3rd division..many years ago, and I remember admiring your constancy, your support after a few years in the doldrums. I remember going to Villa park in the 70's and seeing a proper old football stadium , where you only had to stand in there to feel the history...Ive been many times since, and its still, and probably will remain, my favourite away ground...(Peter Withe did still score the worst ever winning goal in a European cup final though..but not WITHEstanding that..I'm glad you won it) So..I hope you stay down here....for all the right reasons from my point of view, no doubt you lads will think differently, but I'm not mithered about that, seeing the away end peopled by fans of one man and his dog depresses me...so long may you continue to be down here with us... (Unless you play the Blades in the play offs...then the best of luck)
