Got a source for that?
Take my word for it, it's fact, and definitely not from a newspaper "source" like the imaginary £18M buy out clause, also fact is that Exeter City would have received an extra £500,000 had we been prompted, so they can't be well pleased!!! , none of the true facts are that difficult to find using the tinternet thingy, just takes a little time sorting out true fact against imaginary tales, give it a go.

With Exeter being my second club we need to get this done. I'm sure Exeter put a 25% sell on fee on him when he was sold ?
Like the £18 million buy out clause, that wasn't, the sell on fee is 15%, still a good amount for Exeter to have, should bring them in a tidy £3m +, out of all the supposed clubs interested hope he come to you, I think he will be the perfect fit.

I think it's about enjoyment of watching your team.
No joy in celebrating making money that isn't yours.
You are right, supporters enjoy watching their team no matter what div they are in, I should have added it's only the clubs accountants that like making money.

Watkins is everything Hogan Wasn't/Isn't, you have a coach there that knows exactly what Watkins is all about, Bruce didn't have a clue about Hogan and got mugged off.

@jonjon my post didn’t mean to be patronising. I though Jota was a good player for you. He could still do a job.
Not for us I'm afraid, we had the very best out of him, past his sell by date, but would be a great buy for a league 1 club on the up.

hey mate, where do you guys think Benrahma and Watkins will end up? (if they leave ofc)
also, do you think Henry will move?
The three of them will definitely be on the move, that is how we have to operate, it will be to any of the multitude of clubs that journalist have made up!!, I don't think BFC have much interest where they go, as long as the money goes in the bank.

Watkins may well set the PL on fire - but it's a big risk at £25m imo.
It's no risk at all, at the money we want (unknown) he's a snip in these days of inflated prices, Having seen him play live in at least 70 matches for Brentford he is the real deal, an absolute super fit athlete who has only missed 7 games out of 184 for us and Exeter, an absolute work horse who runs for ever, and delivers at the same time, holds the ball up well, above all knows where the goal is, the switch to striker has been his making, he will be well missed by us all, he's been a pleasure to watch these last few years, whoever gets him will be more than well rewarded.

I think we missed our chance to sign him last summer, with Spurs and Chelsea interested I don’t fancy our chances with this one.
You certainly did miss the boat due to allegedly not wanting to pay our asking price, as it has now doubled, but If you believe the latest press reports AC Milan have now entered the race for his signature, Where did that come from? do journalist have nothing better to do than make these stories up, so far the following clubs have shown an INTEREST in signing him: Celtic, Villa, Leicester, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, W Ham, Leeds, if true, he can now take his pick of who is going to offer the best financial package and terms, because at the end of the day that's what football is all about, MONEY!!!

Watkins goalscoring this season gone has been exceptional, and he probably needed a season to master the position and build the confidence needed to play centre forward at premier league level to have a decent chance to succeed. Plus Deano doesn't make all the transfer decisions.
Correct, Thomas Frank and our coaches worked very hard with him after Maupay left, as they saw the potential Watkins had to be a good striker and convinced and converted into that role, a role that he has got better with as the season progresses, as befitting of his his goal scoring record this season, I truly believe he will have no difficulty stepping up a level, after all your top scorer who played in the Championship last season has 10 goals to his credit, so if Watkins only scores 15 if he comes to you, that's a good result.
We will all be sorry to see Ollie go, as he inevitably will do, he has been a real credit to the club, Here is my honest appraisal of him after watching him play home and away just short of 100 games, the the progression he has made since arriving from Exeter has been fantastic, his record speaks for itself, hardly missed a game, he is focused, a super fit athlete, is a lot stronger than he looks and very difficult to shake off the ball, has vision for a good pass, will run and run all day, a good turn of pace, good with both feet and a mean header as well, and above all knows where the back of the net is, and he's still willing to learn, had a few off days, but then don't all footballers, he's quietly spoken and keeps a fairly low key, I have met him a couple of times and he is such a nice person to talk to, with plenty of time to talk to young supporters as well, and he he is definitely no Bertie Big *ollocks.
I am not a betting man, but I will put money on him being a success in the Premiership whatever team he goes to, he has worked very hard at his ambition to play in the top flight, shame as it's looking like it won't be with us, but Hey Ho will will do our usual and find another gem and try again next season, whatever team he goes to will get a fantastic work horse, out of all the teams interested I hope Villa will get him.
Just my opinion as a life long Bees supporter, Hope I haven't rambled on too long.

With all this talk about Watkins and his release clause of £18 Million, you have to bare in mind that is the MINIMUM amount this player can be sold for, I believe, if I have read the rules correctly, if other clubs are interested they can bid against each other with bids more than the stated figure, therefore it could work out with the original minimum release clause being surpassed by a few million more.
Ezri Konsa went for his original release clause of £12.5 Million because Villa were the only bidders, but it could have turned out differently if there were other clubs interested.

There is no comparison between the two, Hogan was lazy, never tracked back, and gave up the chase to easily, we did well letting him go for that money, Watkins is the absolute opposite, and is getting better, would be a good buy at that price as a striker or out wide.

We just have to sign him if they don't go up. We should be getting that done before thinking about Benrahma.
I have come back to you on that, I said there was no release contract, it was my fault, on his original contract there was no release clause, But I had forgotten he signed another 3 year+1 contract only last August that obviously had that £18m clause in it, that makes him not a bad buy, and still leaves us with a handsome profit, if you don't just judge him on last nights horror show he's worth a punt, I've seen him in every home game since he joined from Exeter and he just gets better season on season, he is much stronger than he looks as he is a superb athlete who always keeps in trim, he a very hard worker and will run all day long, knows where the goal is and works well out wide, I will miss he when he goes, but someone will get a player who is only going to get better, (unlike Hogan) good luck in the chase for him.

Last night was the first time I really looked at Benrahma and I wasn't impressed, thought Watkins and Mbeumo looked pretty poor too but as we all know not playing well in a final doesn't mean you're a poor player. I thought Henry and Pinnock looked good players.
But it was an all round poor game, looked like it was off to pens until Bryan stuck the free kick!
I agree with that, I have seen most home games this season and that was the worst performance of the lot, not one of our players turned up last night, disappointed, yes I am, downhearted, no I'm not, after our amazing run we just run out of steam in the last few games.
Benrahama, Watkins & Henry we expect to be sold, no doubt for a good profit, as usual we appear to have replacements lined up ready for this, just looking to go again with better luck next season.
I now can't see Chelsea being in the frame for any of them, Villa would appear to be favorites for one of them.

Total Myth, that was pure press talk from nowhere, no release clause at all in his contract, and there never was or is, the only clause is that Exeter get a percentage of his sell on fee.

How much do you think that you would ask for Benrahma? Would £30m-£35m do it?
Pity if he has to be sold, if you do get up though. Hope your boys find their form again tonight.
Thanks, but I think our lads have run themselves into the ground with 8 wins on the trot and have nothing left in the tank, I've got my fingers crosses for to night, but not holding my breath, in a strange way I enjoy the Championship, but would still like to get promoted to enable to watch the Premiership in our new stadium.
As for the Benrahma price, we all no that any prices quoted are generated and fueled by the press, I'm sure Brentford will settle for what price they put on his head, with perhaps a little wiggle room, the price paid will only truly be found when next seasons accounts are published, prices you see quoted must be taken with a pinch of salt, and would only give a rough guide, if he goes anywhere, my wife being a long term Villa supporter of 60 years, hopes he comes to you.

I don't get it - this would mean the same in practice as not combining two seasons? Don't they combine 3 seasons in one period anyway?
I'm only quoting from the UAFA website: "The break-even assessment of club finances for 2020 will be postponed, and looked at alongside the financial year 2021". I read that its just the 2 seasons, unless I've misinterpreted it.

The majority of them are all losers, ie got relegated from the premiership.
i know as Villa fans, we have been used to shopping for Bargains for the past 12 or so years.
I think we should get out of that mentality now. With ffp restrictions probably being non existent this window due to covid, I think alot of villa fans are going to be surprised the calibre of players we go for. Especially with the murmurs coming out regards the owners ambition.
We want to move to the top quicker, we need to take advantage of ffp relaxation.
It's still there, they are combining this season and next season together, if teams spend huge sums now they will have nothing left for next season purchases, remember, no team is now flush, no income since March and very little income to come in before Xmas time, if not longer, it's going to be a lean all round for everyone, sadly some lower league teams might well go to the wall.

Tonight we find out if we can start doing business with Brentford.
I hope you have a large amount in your war chest, we know what price we want, and we rarely waiver on it, are you prepared to pay the asking price this time round, or are you going to miss the boat again?

Would love to go for tarkowski at cb.
A good player, prone to make gigantic errors at times, but now hated by all fans of Brentford, when he found out that Burnley were interested in him, he downed tools and REFUSED to play for us, was suspended, never played another game for us and engineered his move to Burnley, acted the Bertie Big Bo**ocks over the whole matter, acted very unprofessionally that's the type of man he is.

I like Watkins, but it's another risk IMO. How much would you put him at?
Has now be converted to a genuine striker with 25 goals under his belt this season, can also play effectively on the wing, a tireless worker as well, As goal scores are a at premium I would say between £15 -20 million at a guess.

Whatever, So sorry to disappoint you, but I don't use any forums to do my research as over 90% is made up with untrue snippets from Twatterface and the like, or fans imaginary wish lists, unlike you who obviously do yours by your "local claim" on Google, just spend a little time going through Exeter City's official website archives, or their accounts for that year via Companies House, they are very reliable, case closed, lets both move on, hope you have a good season, with or without Ollie!!
