  1. It's a typical Dildo Bros stalling tactic to drive the price down, he managed 46 games for us and 3 for Algeria this past season without a problem, so I can't see much wrong with him, I think we set a high price for him once Wet Spam were interested knowing that they will always kick off when it comes to spending money, by settings a high price gave us a little wiggle room for a slightly lower negotiating price if we are so inclined, we usually get what is a suitable amount we want, luckily we are not in a desperate problem financially as a lot of other teams are, But it will all unfold come 17.00 hrs today, and he could well be playing for us tomorrow if it all goes tits up.

I would imagine Brentford have a very healthy bank balance?

they are in the green (as in income minus expenses) by about 80m in the transfer market over the last 5 years or so, then add another 20-30m for Benrahma and thats 100/110m ish in the green.

in comparison, Villa are about 230m in the red with regard to transfer dealings in the past 5 years :)

Well, You have brought a few donkeys over the past few years, but now seem to be getting it just right, I had that feeling last year that DS had to take a few players that weren't of his choosing (am I right) so far this season they seem to be more of his choice, and looking much better for it as well, I'm also so glad Ollie has got of to a good start, he will only get better as well.

They just spent £70m on a new stadium, although not sure if that was paid for by other means?

We purchased the land nearly 10 years ago in a backwater bordering Chiswick W4, an area that has now sky rocketed in land value so much so that we exchanged some land to developers who are building almost 900 Apartments next to the stadium, that paid for the stadium, plus I believe that we also came away with £10-£15 million pounds, we are fortunate to have an English owner who is not only a very astute business man but a life long Bee's fan who used to hitchhike up and down the country in his teens just to watch them play.

The amount of money you’ve made in players in recent years you must be the richest club in the championship!

Unfortunately not, there are those clubs relegated from the Prem still receiving millions of Sky money just for being failures in football terms!!!

Can you imagine the reaction of fans if we signed a player for 2m?

We love it, knowing that there is usually a £15 - £25 million profit to be made at the end of it 😉

Benrahama way too expensive at that price for a back up role in this team.

    Very quiet on buendia.

Of course he's far too expensive for a Back up role, the truth is he will be just like Ollie and not be playing second fiddle to anyone, he will be going as the main man in his position, therefore the price set is just right.

I used to be really keen on him but not so sure anymore. Not convinced by his character based on what I saw on Instagram. Any justification in me thinking that?

Not really, A young man doing what most of them do nowadays in this media driven world, post things first without thinking, easily done, probably now regrets it, we have all done things in life, that with hindsight we still cringe at, I think his previous agent should have advised him not to post that type of thing, and that could be why he sacked him and changed agents, who knows?,  As far as I know he's no problem at all club level wise, trains hard, is well liked by all, and above all knows how to play, I have actually met him to speak to and found him a very pleasant and engaging young man,

There was some report, how true I don't know, coming out of Leeds, that Bielsa didn't fancy him due to that video, I find that rich coming from a man that can't/won't speak English and appears to make no attempt to learn the language, still, it is Leeds we are talking about.

My money is still on him going to Villa at the last minute.

Yeah probably. He is undoubtedly a very talented player, but there must be a reason as to why his agent has not been able to engineer a move away from the Championship for him, especially if the asking price is "only" around £18m-£25m. Far worse players have moved for far more. Although maybe not as many in the Covid-19 economy.

He has just changed his agent this last two weeks so I would imagine that might be part of the hold up, The Porn Bros of  Wet Spam always offer very low prices, in the hope that one club might fall for it, unfortunately they have picked the wrong club to mug off, as we usually get what we ask for, it could also be that some clubs are waiting until the last minute to play their hand, a bit like poker!!.

It is rumored from this end that he is willing to wait his time until the right club/offer comes in January, and that's only about 11 weeks away, I'm sure he can manage financially until then, In the meantime he will keep playing for us, and hopefully enhancing himself in the shop window for the January sales.

  9. Firstly,  Well done Villa a great result.

I did repeatedly tell you how good Ollie was, and worth every penny you spent, left food, right foot and a header, stamina, hold up play, running, etc, he showed you all that yesterday, and he didn’t let my talking about him down, and If he continues in this way, Hopefully the next faze might even be an England cap, as he is only going to get better, hope so as we will get our reported £5 million add on.

Note: Don’t get too carried away, as I think as good as you played, that must rank as one of Liverpools worst defensive display ever.

  10. Not one of the best or exciting matches to watch, very patchy in parts, but when it counts Said comes to the rescue as usual with one of his trademark goals, Hope he stays with us, but there is time left in the window for his departure, would team up well with Ollie!!

  11. Well done Villa, not the best of games but a good three points, it was strange seeing Ollie playing out wide again, but he put in a decent shift, mind you Fulham were rubbish and got what they deserved, hopefully we can get revenge on Thursday for our Play off defeat when we play them at home in the League Cup (Live on Sky).

Well if things carry on as they are, the Premier League will have 3x the penalties of last season.

    Who's our taker?

Jack was talked of as a good one but missed his last.

Watkins I don't think has taken one for about three years.

Hourihane hits a good deadball, great one in Albion play-offs.

I presume Luiz could casually clip 50 pens in a row right into any corner you asked him to.

Wouldn't want Trez, El Ghazi or Keinan touching them.

And then he missed!!! that's the only thing he can't do, keep him well away from penalty taking, just let him do what he is good at and that's scoring bags of goals in open play.

Ghoddos has signed for Brentford.....wonder if that means another one of their players can "move on" now?

Apparently we have been looking to sign Ghoddos for the last 16 months, hope he's worth the wait, We only have Said Benrahma left in the stock room now, the rest are not for sale, or so we have been told repeatedly by the management.

We obviously take the 3 points but that was not great at all.

    Positives:

Watkins - Worked his bollox off and gets into the right areas, almost scored a beautiful curler (Shows he has more in his locker than tap ins) but in tandem with negatives below, I worry if we don't start playing decent we will destroy yet another good player. He will end up having to come deeper and deeper to get anything. Bare in mind, the kid is coming from a very good footballing side which play with skill and fluidity.

    Fully agree with you.

I was very disappointed with the whole game, You are not wrong with your assessment of Watkins, Worked hard but he was only fed a few scraps all night long tonight, so not a lot to work with, he's been used to balls being whipped in from the left and right that he can do something with, I was very surprised that I saw non of that tonight, hopefully DS can work on that and put that right quickly so as to bring the best out of him to score, let's just hope, as you say he doesn't get destroyed through lack of good football.

Southampton just got spanked by Spurs 5 - 2?

And we beat them last week in the Carabao cup at St Mary's, They put out a 1st team squad minus one and we made 6 changes with "fringe" players for us, on that and today's showing they are going to struggle.

Looking forward to watching Watkins play tomorrow on Sky, Not really a betting man but have put a couple of bob on him to score.👍

If we get into relegation battle and Ollie Watkins is a flop hes 120% gone.

You have obviously never seen him play in live matches, He will not flop, can't speak for any other one in your team, as I have never seen them live.

I agree a new LB isn’t a massive priority and if it had been then surprised we werent in the mix for Jamal Lewis who looks a bargain at £13.5m.

So Rico Henry will be £15m plus given the Brentford premium we have to pay.

I don't know where you get this premium payment from, you've be on too many click bait sites obviously, There is no premium for Villa or any other team, we set our price for a player as we are perfectly entitled to, (Just like Watkins) and if any club doesn't  want to pay it, they should just move on and look elsewhere.

It is I guess a credit to the quality of your recruitment and the success of your method that you're the only group of fans I've ever seen that desperately encourage other clubs to take your best players for money!

Brentford are playing this game differently to everyone else.

It works for us, so we are used to see them move on, had we had made the Premier League he would still be with us, perhaps next year? then we can keep our best players.

How much will Brentford really want for him though? They know we have money and love to charge top dollar. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them ask for £40m

No way, He's ranked at the same price as Watkins by Brentford.

Reading the Brentfords forums alot actually think Watkins has the higher ceiling. (I was surprised about this too)

@jonjon @Brentfordnylons We all would value your opinions on their potential/ceilings.

FWIW, and having watched both of them play together many times, I think they are both very good players in their own right, but work very well with each other, it's hard to choose between them as they play different roles on the pitch, I would therefore value them at about the same price, they both have the ability to improve as well, So get the cheque book out buy Benrahma as well, you know it make sense!!!

I agree, even though I am concerned about Watkins ability to adjust to the PL fast enough. They play well together and are both good players. Getting the pair would help both.

No need to be concerned, after all Watkins came within 2 points of being a Premier League player in his own right, He will be fine, trust me.

With Watkins incoming we should bring in Benrahma, would be a shame to break them up

That would be a great move for you, they work so well together and have a great understanding of each other, would make sense.
