Are Brentford going to have any players left?! Sawyers might be going to West Brom as well. We will have more Brentford players than Brentford soon!
I can't for the life of me understand why Villa don't/can't,won't buy and develop their own young players, it can't be cheap the way you are doing it, I suppose it's because you are awash with Premiership money and can't be asked.

Any whispers @jonjon? @Brentfordnylons?
If you want to believe the press and click bait sites Maupay is off to Brighton, and Benrahma wants to join Villa, If you want the TRUTH Brentford have yet to receive any offers for players with the exception of Romaine Sawyers who's derisory bid from Celtic was turned down and they were told to come back with a sensible offer, but there are still 17 days or so left until the window is closed, so anything can happen, and usually does.

Maupay again left out of Brentford's squad, wonder if we are genuinely interested in signing him?
So were the rest of the 1st team apart from 2 players, it was a B team run out that played today in a 2-2 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.

Anyone think he got him cheaper than £12m with the 'undisclosed' fee? Understand they are normally always undisclosed nowadays but would have thought less likely when it's a well-known clause
No, the £12 million release clause is exactly what you paid, no more, no less, but there could be "undisclosed" sell on clause, only the clubs will know what that was, if there was one?

They're punching well above their weight right now, but when you're gambling on a bunch of unknown tryers and every offseason end up selling the ones who were the best performers, then not reinvesting the funds into more quality, it gets hard to progress up the table. Because they aren't reinvesting most of their profits into more players, they're essentially gambling on progression every season. Moneyball only gets you so far, when you have a small budget. It's going to take some luck for them to get promoted without spending more in the transfer market. Bournemouth sold players during their meteoric rise, but reinvested the funds into the next level up of targets and held on to their key players when there weren't great replacements available. Brentford, on the other hand, seem content to be a Championship mid-table feeder club for bottom-half Premier League teams.
Congrats on getting Ezri by the way, you will not be disappointed with him, he will go along way, good business for you and another few millions in the kitty for us, keeps both clubs happy.
Our owner had a plan worked on the “moneyball” system, (a word he hates by the way) he prefers analytics and statistics that run along side his own business (SmartOdds), With our new stadium nearly ready for next year we are now investing our players sales profit at long last to get to the promised land, we have made £28 million profit on 4 players this year so far, we have just reinvested in 5 new players for £19 million in the last couple of weeks, a sum by far the greatest we have ever spent, in fact we have only spent £36.6 million in transfers in 129 years!!!
We have two more players in the pipeline that can be purchased with the sale of Maupay, (probably to you), so things are now slowly changing here and hopefully if promotion comes we will be able to stop selling.
Good luck with this season, you will be fine with Dean at the helm, who knows, we might be up there with you sooner than later.

I hope we are going for Benrahma as well to give us 4 wide options - I see Green going on loan to the Championship, maybe even to Brentford as part of a deal to bring Benrahma to VP. If not, then I would rather we just went for Benrahma and left Trezeguet.
That's not going to happen, we don't do loans, as far as I can remember Dean Smith and our DOF's stopped doing them about 2-3 seasons ago, and I think Villa want to go down the same route, why nurture and develop another teams players at the expense of your own.

Benrahma is the one I really want ✍
He's still undergoing treatment for his injury and is working on getting fit, but is doubtful even for the start of the season, so he could be a risky buy at the moment, out of all our players they are prepared to sell, he's the one they are desperate to keep hold of if they can, but money talks, so who knows?

One to replace every player we seem to be (rumoured to ) buying from you
I can see you getting Konsa & Maupay, but am surprised there are no rumours linking Dean Smith and Rico Henry, unless someone wants to start one

Are you guys after Gallagher like the above tweet suggests? Could free up Maupay for us
Just press talk and tittle tattle at the moment, but who knows, this transfer window is suddenly picking up speed for every club, we have just signed Mathias Jensen from Celta Vigo today, that makes 5 new signings for us so far this window, and I don't think we have stopped.

the big question tho, is he worth 20m?
Not yet, but when the finished article he will be worth a lot more than 20m, just hope we have a large sell on clause, we usually do!

Safe to say this isn't a Villa scouting department signing. This smells Deano a mile off.
As backup this would be perfect sense. As first choice it's insanity. But Deano's choice. His job.
Insanity!!! You have obviously never seen him play, except the few games on TV, he has exceptional talent for a young man with over 100 league games already under his belt, He will not be purchased as a back up, DS will make sure of that, that's why a reported bid from Villa has come in, DS will be spending the money to play him from the off.

I watched him in every home match he played in, he's a very, very talented lad with ambition, with a lot more to come and I don't think Konsa will want to play second fiddle for long, DS will know how to use him, at the journalist so called prices quoted (£12 Million) he will be a steel with a long future ahead of him.

Mate, you follow a script when certain keywords are present. Its actually quite sinister. What are they doing to you lot down there?
No script to follow my son, just the truth, and letting him know that we have made more than £2 million in transfer fees this year, not difficult to understand is it?

Brentford have spent 15m so far in this transfer window (Jansson - 5.5m, Norgaard - 3.2m, Pinnock - 3m, Raya - 3m), for only 2m income (Bentley - 2m).
I can only assume they seriously expect to be selling one or more of their assets? (Maupay/Benrahma/Konsa).
Hopefully its Benrahma to us
They also sold Nico Yenaris to China for £5 million and they still have the £12 million from Bournemouth for Chris Mepham, so there was £19 million in the war chest, and we hopefully have La Liga midfielder on his way, so there is no need to sell anyone.
Despite all click bait and "a source" material put about, Brentford confirmed yesterday that they have no pending enquiries for Maupay or Benrahma from any club, it is all press speculation and journalist tripe, and they are looking to keep them, but should any enquiry come in and the clubs price is met, they will sell.
Benrahma did not travel to Austria for summer camp training as he is still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation for his recent injury/surgery, Maupay did travel with them.

FWIW, I like Brentford. I enjoy the fans posting on here, admire the way they go about their business and hope they manage to get promoted at some point soon. Would be a great achievement.
In the meantime, though, just let us have your best players pls
One Day, One Day, we all hope
Haven't you heard, we start at £20 million!!! (if you checked click bait)

Never posted on that, we are a dual supporting couple, because for my sins my wife is a long time Villa supporter being born in the area, I only post on here out of interest and to keep her up to date.

I can just see all the little Brentford ET creatures going mad at the thought of appointing another bib man as a manager
Please keep up, like most well run clubs we don't employ a Managers, only a Head Coach, we have moved on with the times, unlike some clubs.

I don't think we have every done a "cheeky" bid, but there is always a first time I suppose , but on the other hand what do us supporters know?

There's no way Brentford will do anything without informing the fans first, via a huge committee like the Galactic senate.
No different to Villa then?

Apparently brentford have slashed there valuation price on Maupay to 15 million, must get him now would be a treat at that price.
What a load of made up rubbish from the SUN, they have no idea what Brentford will sell him for, if at all, the club have categorically stated today that they have had no enquiries for him at all, as yet, and if they do the price will always be an "undisclosed figure", and the general public will only find out the true figure in next years accounts, so don't get sucked in by the click bait rumours, why are supporters so obsessed with the price of players? after all it doesn't come out of their pockets !!!

two?
Trezequet and.........?
Could be the Brentford player Kamohelo Mokotjo who played his 19th match for the winning South African side that beat Egypt, but if you believe click bate sites he will cost you £20 Million !!!!

Summer Transfer Window 2019 (closed)
in Villa Talk
Posted
I think what we are all forgetting in these "windows" is the role the dreaded football agent plays in all this, he's only there to make money for himself, and it means nothing at all to him where his commodity (player) goes, as long as he can make the maximum amount of money for himself, after all, where the players new club is based makes not a blind bit of difference to him, as he doesn't have to go there every day, so it could well be that agent is trying to push the price up as well as Brentford hanging out for the best deal, and at long last we are not that desperate to sell players.
I know it appears that we are going against our "model" for moving a player on, but he has only done 1 year of a four year contract and now has three years left, hence the reluctance to let him move on just yet, The January window opens in just 21 weeks time and perhaps his agent realises that could be more beneficial financially to all parties concerned, who knows how they work? what I do know is they seem to make a lot of money just for sitting round a table talking. money!!
