  1. Clearly the person who wrote the headline had zero understanding of what Barry was actually saying. :)

Well clearly the journalist got / tilted a headline for its own means.

But ..Dnno why the immediate rush of apologists and advocates for Barry on here tho.

"My advice to him would be to try to get the situation sorted as quickly as possible" ?

    Shut up Barry.

Because he's done nothing wrong. :?

He said something what we all want to happen and said absolutely nothing wrong or anything bad about Villa or saying anything that Milner should join City etc...etc..

    Well meek.

    Shut up Barry.

  3. Why dont we get our kits made by SLAM while were at it?

Any excuse to criticise. Best deal in our history. Get over it.

I couldnt care less who makes our kit if it was released at a decent date!

    seriously?!

    lol

  4. What happened to a good old "no comment" or "nothing to do with me" rather than a "My advice to him would be to try to get the situation sorted as quickly as possible" ?

Tell me what's wrong with his comment?

Surely his comment benefits us more than anything.

Personally speaking, I'd rather the deal be sorted out in 7 days rather than on August 31st.

Id just rather not hear Barry talking openly about Villa or Milner in any way tbh.

Quite playing devils advocate to Barry . Hes a dickhead...and hopefully will be in their reserves soon enough.

  5. Fat Barry's View

JAMES MILNER has been told to square up to Martin O’Neill if he wants to join Manchester City.

City midfielder Gareth Barry believes confronting the Aston Villa boss is the only way Milner will be granted his wish to move to Eastlands.

Barry was in the same situation two years ago when his dream move to Liverpool was scuppered by O’Neill’s refusal to drop his asking price.

Villa are holding out for £30m, but City won’t go above £24m.

“My advice to him would be to try to get the situation sorted as quickly as possible,” said Barry.

“Mentally it is tough to deal with and it does mess with your brain. It was probably the longest summer of my life, not knowing what was happening. I am sure the quicker James knows the situation – whether he is going to come to us or stay at Villa – it will be better for him.

“My advice is for him to speak to Martin O’Neill and then he can concentrate on what needs to be done for the season.

“It is hard to say that Martin or Villa are doing anything wrong. They have put a valuation on James and they are within their rights to turn offers down.

“He is in the same spot as I was, but that is football. As soon as I had made my mind up it was not going to happen, and committed to playing for Villa, my mind stopped wandering elsewhere.”

Milner missed Saturday’s 3-1 win over Feyenoord at the weekend with a back injury.

    Oof.

Barry of all ppl should just shut up.

  6. Played devils advocate to Heskey in past and for some god knows reason actually briefly thought O'Neill might have made a shrewd move when he bought him here season and half ago or whatever-ie- he might be somehow manage to conjure up the same player from Leicester or Liverpool days . But **** me hes awful - and whatever he did have hes been past it for years now. Great at falling over for no reason though.

Cmon Brucie do us a favour.

  7. It has to be top 4. CL is the only way we can attract better players, however a really good Europa Cup run would be great for our team as well.

I think you can only really attract the genuine better players when you qualify proper for group stages which is usually too late as Spurs seem to be finding out. I think if we finished fourth we wouldn't immediately start spending X ammont more on loads of wages either- to do that you need to have couple of champs league runs under your belts imo without jepordising things .

Anyhow in regards to original post dnno why can't do both. I don't think it's true that you have to somehow do shite in cups to have more chance of 4th

  8. I would like to see us improve the overall ability of our football and win matches more convincingly.

I'm looking for a more cohesive unit in defence and attack.I want to see good positional sense in defence and cut out the school boy errors, by synchronised movement.

I want to see more goals from open play and dispense with the reliance so heavily on set pieces.I want to see intelligence employed in offensive movement.

then and only then will i be looking for trophies.

I wouldn't care how we played if we won a trophy or finished 4th.

Like merson said, trophies and medals say champions not entertainers.

    ^^^

True but if not getting either id rather we played some better stuff.

Think you have to play better stuff to win things anyhow.

  9. James Milner had very good reasona to want to leave Newcastle for Villa but he only has one reason to leave City for Villa, and that's money. There is a difference. I wouldn't mind if Milner left Villa for Chelsea or Man U.

You say that but you seriously think Man City wont be winning things in near future?

Im sorry but lets not kid ourselves they should be challenging for the Prem title sooner rather than later.

  10. I'm surprised by some of the comments, suggesting that Villa is pushing Milner out!

Milner has had his head turned like Barry, but wants to eat his cake as well. Man City are playing silly buggers like they did with everton last year, and O'Neill isn't going to play their game. By announcing to everyone that Milner is for sale, it places pressure on Man City as other clubs could come in for him.

I think if Man City drag this out to much longer, United or Chelsea might offer $20m and O'Neill would accept, just to spite City.

O'Neill has done the right thing, either complete the deal or go away, as I'm sure there are a couple of other clubs in the wings.

Well thats pure speculation on your own part.

United wont be offering anything for Milner (theyve spent any budget they have) and very much doubt Chelsea will want or need him either.

Do'nt even know why Man City would need him tbh given their own odds and sods in midfield already - but theyre the only club to have shown any interest

  11. Yeh i mean City being linked with Donovan as well. Possibly just to weaken Everton? (they were reportedly interested in him longterm)

Its a real mish mash theyre accumilating up there.

A real expensive odds and sods collection of midfielders esp. - Its pretty hard to figure exactly what sort of set up theyre trying to do other than just weaken teams around them that they can.

  12. Bit disturbing tho it seems we don't seem to buy anyone until after we sell now.

Rmber last season Barry , Knight etc were all sold a good while before we bought anyone if rmber rightly.

And this summer looks same again....

Same with Ashley Young next season?....

£30 million for Milner tho would be a laugh . (unless he ends up being Man Citys Stevie G / Lampard etc...tho i doubt it)

  13. A good £10m profit in a short space of time. MON now needs to go and get that flair player that we've been missing - with the wages he was going to offer Jimmy of c£70k a week and £20m i'm sure we can pull of a right marquee signing that will appease us fans.

    LOL

Sorry - but that was my natural reaction.
