Thanks, you’re wrong but that’s ok
Trust me on this. I've been wrong many time before & will be again. And I'm ok with that.

Why? We are more likely to sell but we are unlikely to ask for less, we don’t need the money and Jack still has 3 years left on his contract and unlikely to throw his dolls out of the pram even if he tries to force a move. Our bargaining position in terms of value doesn’t change.
I beg to differ.

Why would we ask for less? We don’t need to sell him. If clubs have less money to spend that’s their issue. We aren’t fitting around their budgets. Only clubs that are struggling for money will have to sell their players cheaper, we aren’t in that boat.
Not sure that I said to ask for less ! I just said i don't know what player values will be this coming window.
As to Jacks value I believe he is top end but how everything plays out will depend on you guys avoiding relegation. If you go down & Jack whispers that he wants to move on it will change your bargaining position drastically.

If Man U are prepared to pay 100m for Sancho as reports suggest, why is Grealish not worth 80m?
I think player prices will drop once the Summer transfer opens !! Having said that, I believe Jack is worth top end money if he moves this year, I just don't know what top end coin will translate to in this crazy mixed up mess.

Its not about the premier league experience being the issue.
its signing the right players.....is the issue......and it has been for too long now.
It's about horses for courses.
When a team is buying a player there should be a profile in place for what is required, Wesley doesn't appear to be the style of player that Smith wanted. It appears that Smith wanted a lone striker to play up front and it also appears that Wesley does not fit that profile. Don't buy player just because he's available !

I only praise Drinkwater for his achievements from years ago in hope that he can get back to that. I acknowledge that he won’t get back to that now
I don't feel there is any way back for Drinkwater in the Premier league. The fact that after half a season at Burnley he showed up so badly out of shape tells me he is just cashing paycheques now.
Damn Shame !! He was very good at Leicester !!

From that sentence I presumed you were implying Villa would be regularly fighting relegation battles (if we stay up).
Am I wrong?
You added perennially to your first reply and now you include regularly in this reply. My post was a generalization that top players want to challenge for cups not fight relegation battles. Full Stop.
Yes You Are Wrong !!

I think it has got worse since Heaton got injured.
Thats a very good point. He probably was the guy organizing the D !
I'm guessing that Pepe Reina wasn't doing as good a job.

I have noticed all season our positioning is questionable.
Maybe its just learning in a new division.....positioning is far more crucial in this league.
Positioning is usually a coaching issue or the players are not listening to the coaches.

So if by some freak intervention Villa stay up, you think perennially we'd be fighting relegation?
No I don't !!! You introduced the word "perennially" !! Though things will need to change though if you manage to avoid relegation this season. Trying to outscore Premier League opposition without having a solid D will just bring the same results
As for a football player at 25 years old, two years represents possibly forty per cent of his remaining career and that is not to be taken lightly. Players, not just Jack, need to see ambition and potential. It's why Mahrez left Leicester & Zaha wants out of C Palace just to use two examples. It's an ongoing story.

Why does he need to be playing in Europe now? He’s from Birmingham. He’s an Aston Villa player who apparently loves the club. Maybe it would mean something to him when he retired and he has helped restore Aston Villa as a force in English football. Why would he want to play in Europe with a team like Man United, who most Aston Villa supporters despise? Why is the default position that any good player is too good to be at Aston Villa and needs to leave for personal gain?
The top players usually want to play for their country, compete at the top level (Europe) and win titles. Top players are driven by desire and most are not going to be satisfied fighting relegation battles.

They'd kill their grandmother's to finish the season.
The majority of supporters favour whatever plan works best for their club. Its human nature.

Unless they change the rules clubs can sign players, they just won’t be able to register them to play.
But would a player sign for a club that was in a relegation battle.
Normally relegation, champions league and europe have been decided before the transfer window.

Gutted Leicester look like they will get Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic. Desperately wanted him here last summer. Not knowing what division we will be in just like last summer must be a right pain in terms of planning and what with everything else going on.
I have no idea how transfers will work this Summer but if the season is still ongoing while the transfer window is open players will not want to go to a club that is in a relegation battle.

I think Mings needs to know his limits as a footballer.
He seem to think he is prime Maldini on the ball.
But at the end of the day i'm pretty sure it comes down to Dean's instructions. He wants his defender to play out from the back. And it's always a risky game with limited defenders.
Its fashionable now to play out from the back but there are very few CB's that are capable of doing it for 90 minutes. Managers need to assess the talent they have and fit the system to the talent not arbitrarily declare that this is how we will play regardless of whether we have players who are capable or not. Unless you are Pep with an unlimited budget you must adapt the system to fit the team. Villa do not have the personnel to play Dean Smith football at the Premier League level ! It works in the Championship but not against the quality checkers in the prem. Everton, Tottenham & Man C have all been punished this year trying to walk the ball out, teams need to learn how to play defence first.

Chris , I am not trying to be controversial, but its like boxing well for 8 rounds and winning all the rounds on points and then getting knocked out in 9th or being well on top at snooker and then losing the game on snookers.
Its all part and parcel of the game....it can't be seperated.
If it happens regularly and it has done with us, we are not playing well.....being a few goals up is oh so noble, but the name of the game is finishing it off.
we are just good in parts, its not enough and we will pay the price, if its unchecked.
The bits we are not good at are fixable, but we keep thinking we are unlucky, but we are not, its poor play and the sooner we all address it, the better.....preferably the manager, first.
All sport requires the player or team to go the distance, being awesome for 80 minutes and the conceding two in the last ten minutes is not unlucky, it's poor game management !! The Premier League is tough because all teams can hurt you if you if you take 30 seconds off.

Since winning the league perez, iheanacho, musa, slimani for £100m and vardy is still head and shoulders above all of them
Then add in ward, iborra, ghezzal and adrien... Leicester hit rate isn't that good
Musa & Slimani for sure. Perez & Iheanacho too soon to say.
Ward is stuck behind Schmiechel but has looked good in the cups
Iborra, Ghezzai & Adrien I agree
Soyuncu, Ndidi, Kante, Mahrez, Maguire, Albrighton, Evans, Justin, Perriera, Praett, Madisson, Tielemans all huge successes !

Would anyone take Hamza Choudhury from Leicester City? I don’t think he is going to get in their team ahead of Tielemans, I think Choudhury is excellent but he needs games to showcase his talents
The verdict is still open on Hamza, he doesn't get to play a lot & when he does he is sometimes a little too enthusiastic with his tackles. I believe there is a very good player there but being behind Wilfred Ndidi I can't see him getting many opportunities. I doubt that Leicester would want to sell him as he is a great insurance policy for defensive midfield and he is one for the future.

Sheffield United thing was a one of incident which can be stopped from happening again by a change to the rules, this is different nothing to say that future seasons won't be disrupted in the same way that this one has been, premier league won't want to be taken to court by the three teams in the relegation places everytime that happens.
They will just include a clause that says they have the right to halt the season at any time & decide relegation/promotion. The won't get caught out twice.

I dont think the Premier League care about the teams suing, took Sheffield United about 2 or 3 to get "justice" over the Tevez affair. They were on the way to League 1 by this stage
I agree !!

The season is the season. Choosing to go PPG would effectively be the league deciding to relegate 3 clubs and I'd expect every single one of those clubs to immediately spend a lot of money on a some lawyers and all of their fans to bear a grudge against the league forever more.
Whatever happens there will be law suits that will drag on for years with only the scum bag lawyers gaining anything from them. Should Villa get relegated on the basis of PPG and then sue and win two years later will they be re-instated to the Premier League ?

I have the same concern.
Hopefully it turns out well in Germany and Premier League can continue in June
I believe that three teams will get relegated one way or another either by finishing the season or by some kind of points per game scenario. I do think that if the season is played out then clubs should be allowed to use their home stadiums.

I'm confused by your post. Do you feel that playing out the season in empty stadiums is a scam designed to relegate Villa ?
