Yeah I get that, for every good there was a bad, but, that is a mahooooosive improvement on the absolute dross that hellraiser has served up, bang average is a pretty big **** win for this franchise

Very very true, I remember turning one off after 20 mins a few years back.

Just this second finished it so this might be a bit befuddled but...

I really enjoyed it, probably the 3rd or 4th best Hellraiser in the franchise out of the 11 films but lets be serious, that is an extremely low bar isn't it.

There were some pretty big changes to the original (aside from Pinhead but we'll get to that later) it was mainly in the cenobites motivations and the way that the lament configuration worked, I really wasn't a fan of that.

Basically every time that part of the puzzle is completed the cenobites are called, but the person in possession of the box can pass the sacrifice on to anyone that they choose just by stabbing them with the box, originally it was all about desire, this just kind of turned it into a cenobite version of It Follows

I actually didn't mind the characters in it, you had the main girl Riley who felt like she was clearly modelled (especially in the beginning) on Zendaya as Rue in Euphoria, the frizzy haired bedraggled look, but she was pretty good as the film went on, a little bit too "yeah I'm the main character and even though I'm scared I'm not actually going to really lose my shit" she was a little bit too cool for school, her pal went against all stereotypes by instantly believing what she was saying and by getting on board with it almost immediately.

I wasn't a massive fan of the cenobites and their new look, they were a little too alien looking, I'm sure that some people will say that the cenobites have gone "woke" because they are pretty much all feminine looking, that didn't bother me, I just didn't think that they looked all that great at times, I couldn't help but want the BDSM sex monsters back.

As for Jamie Clayton she did do a really good job of reinventing pinhead/the hell priest, my only complaint is that she was too robotic, there was no charisma in her voice, even in the first film before Pinhead became a caricature of himself, he had that power and charisma in his voice and performance, but Clayton had a thankless task, she couldn't copy Doug Bradley and she had to do something different and I think that as a massive fan of the original she was always going to come in second place.

The first half of the film did a great job of just teasing the cenobites rather than just throwing them in in all of their glory, second half of the film was a little different but that is to be expected I suppose

The score was brilliant, I really like the fact that they went back to the original for that.

A few other things that are spoilery...

There weren't any shocks, I knew that her fella was gunna be a bad bastard, mainly because of what I said earlier, he was just too willing to believe her

I knew that Roland was going to be alive and was expecting him to be full on half cenobite rather than just having a big clock thing shoved through his chest

They did my boy Chatterer dirty in a big way, that annoyed the hell out of me and just seemed completely pointless

The cenobite conversion at the end was pretty cool and while I was fully expecting a scene like that (mainly because we were treated to it in Hellraiser 2) I thought that they could have done a bit more with it

    No Butterball

Again, I miss the BDSM sex monsters

There were a few nice Easter Eggs in there, when the dude is shagging Riley and he puts his fingers in her mouth, definitely a nod to the Chatterer and Kirsty from the first film, there were a few other quotes that were thrown in as well

All in all I give this 7.5 she-pinheads out of 13 lament configurations

And just for the sake of nostalgia

I just watched it, it’s okay I guess not awful, not brilliant.

I cannot believe that anybody bothers with either  anymore. With the amount of things you can get onto a fire stick for 60 quid a year it beggars belief

Well to get the internet only would cost 60 or at 85 I get everything including my Netflix subscription so I thought it was a no brainier. Also UFC/NFL etc still cost a lot money outside of sky/virgin

  4. Yeah after a “I’m going to cancel” call, I ended up with 10 quid less than I was paying, faster broadband (500mb), Netflix covered and an unlimited o2 SIM card I don’t need but shoved it into an iPad, plus that gave me Disney free (which I already had) for 6 months.

I'm completely fine with She Hulk and think the backlash is pretty pathetic...but they drop two of the biggest spoilers for The Sopranos in episode 4. I still have one more season to go in the Sopranos, and they pretty much say the ending, or at least one of the biggest things I didn't need to know. That's so out of order. She Hulk is by design pretty lite entertainment, and that was a terrible decision.

Nah that’s like saying Jack died in Titanic is a spoiler. I think the statute on spoilers has way gone at 15 years

yeah i agree with this, we can have a solid base and let Sarr, Bailey, Buendia, coutinho, ings and watkins concentrate on attacking, whatever the combination of these players are.

If we cant for whatever reason get another holder then I would be relatively happy with Dougie in next to Kamara and again let the rest loose.

  7. I used to be quite blasé when buying stuff for the kids when out for the day, last Thursday I went to the Tower of London with my two youngest, my son wanted ice cream (4.80 a scoop) and I said yes you can have ice cream.....in 15 mins from the Tesco Express down the road.

Saying that I did get stitched up for the worlds most expensive packet of M&Ms from the store on Leicester Square.

Because too many think we can just go out and get a 20 goal a season striker for whatever money we want, that we can do better and it's easy to do better

Said before that player at the moment doesn't exist, there's a real shortage of proper number 9s out there and bigger clubs than us also need that player (man utd, even Arsenal and Chelsea didn't buy a proper number 9 they got goalscoring wide men)

And then put it in the context that villa haven't had a 20 goal a season striker in 40 years

Don't me wrong Ollie needs to be better this year, he needs to sort his head out and Gerrard needs to help him but the willingness to give up on him is crazy, almost like we're spoilt by these owners

One of the podcasts did something on this (MOMS I think) and they came to the conclusion (and I agree) the only player who fit the bill of prolific scorer and not at a top 6 side was Ings and we bought him.

I like Ings, but when Ollie doesn't play you really notice the difference, I mean Ings works hard but Ollie's work rate and strength especially are another level.

As for missed chances have we already forgotten the amount of chances Tammy had missed and he is a really good striker.

Jesus played fewer games and got more assists tbf. I know which one I’d rather have in the team

Fewer games or not he was statistically less clinical.

  10. I did the climb the TDF are doing right now a couple of weekends ago. It was super hot when I did it to. I had already done it the Romme/Colombiere so this one was probably the easiest of the day.

He's been a phenom since he was a kid. He has some body type where his recovery from intense exercise is nearly immediate. So he can give it 100% and the next day he's fine again, effectively.

Yes I hope so, but cycling will always have the question sadly

The comment from yesterday’s coverage was that he has never been forced to retire from a major bike race. Could be curse of the commentator 😁

Also, apparently he’s only finished outside the top 10 once on a stage race, that was the Tour Down Under when he made his professional debut at 19 and finished 13th.

    Like the anti-Richie Porte….

If he is cheating then they need to dial it down a bit because he is so dominant and not just on the climbs. Saying that you have Van Aert who is also doing massive shows of strength which make some of what Sagan used to do positively pedestrian.

  13. Yeah Top Gun Maverick is a big nostalgia bomb and cheesy, but some of the scenes, particularly in the final third of the film are seriously amazing

Both Ambulance and Sonic 2 hit streaming services in the US, I enjoyed Sonic 2 (kids are watching it again today) more than Ambulance. The new Chip and Dale was better than either of them.

One of our best players when Gerrard first came in. When he got injured everyone on here was gutted and couldn't wait for him to come back.

One bad game, where he shouldn't have been brought on in the first place btw, and suddenly he's the worst player the club has ever seen.

Some of the people on here need to take a step back and give their heads a bit of a wobble.

Yeah he's limited, and will probably be a bit part player next season, but some of the comments on here are just uncalled for

In a couple of the early matches under Gerrard before his injury he was MOM.

Kamara looks to be a significant upgrade but more than happy to have him here as a backup next season.

    People do forget very quickly...

Trezeguet (and Luiz) were class after Project Restart and helped us stay up.

We would have been down without crucial games and goals from Trezeguet.

Yes he's hot and cold but I'm thankful for his performances during that time in particular. I hope he has a successful career somewhere else, preferably not another English team.

In the 7-2 against Liverpool, his work rate was a big reason we had so much joy as he was doing the work of 2 players. Proper unsung hero in that game. He isn’t a bad player even at prem level would do well in most European leagues
