You're right, we're not at our best yet, and were below par against Burnley, yet we've won five from five European games and are undefeated in the league. I'll take that.

Well that's in the eye of the beholder. You can choose any individual game to support a case, I'm told we dominated Spurs second half at Wembley when we scored three at their place. We can keep the ball well, and break down teams, take a look at our second goal vs Sheffield United in the Championship at home and our first (or second, not sure) vs Cardiff at home last season for examples of the kinds of goals I think you (and we all) find attractive. It's true that Nuno does like his teams to be comfortable and 'in control' without the ball, and I believe it's a mistake to just look at possession stats to decide that a team has dominated a game.

We played pretty much the same system in the championship and dictated most games, and plenty of games last season in the premier league too. As @TRO has suggested, it really boils down to the ability of the opposition, and that partly is the strength of the system we play, it allows us to push up and dominate the ball against weaker teams, and sit back looking for chances against the stronger teams. For example, in pre season we played Newcastle United and dominated the ball from memory, in the next game we played the same system against Man City and er, didn't.

Reading Redcafe today we certainly seem to have upset the raggers a little.

Wolves are effective with the possetion they have, no one from Wolves pretends to be 2010 Barca. We try to control the game with out the ball and we limit the opposition to very few chances (we've conceeded one goal in seven games now I think) and make the most of the chances that come our way. Saying we'll struggle against teams that sit back is no great insight, we did all season last year (although we had 30 shots at home against Burnley). I can't speak for all fans, but I don't feel jealous of (or obssessed with, hate that term, it's a form of self flattery) Villa. You're generally a decent bunch who have had success now and then, but I think you generally underachieve as a club.

It's mainly because you can be seen as arrogant, I mean, this new player hasn't even kicked a ball for you and you're already calling him marvelous.

    You think he’s worth £48m?!

With the points in the premier league migrating north up he table for some time it’s just good to see any clubs get close. Hope someone does make it this year, whoever it is.

    Wolves

That's not really a prediction mate, probably 80% of people would expect that finish for Wolves, the difference between 11th and 6th is about as great as 20th to 10th.

You gave us a decent game last time, don't worry about it

Good memory! Yes he was playing really well and looked a star for a while. That game he played a blinder and it was a real shame for him. I seem to remember david Davis coming on for him and doing ok. Our feelings for him changed pretty sharpish!

It is really bad, but it’s mainly from a handful of posters. I’ve clicked ‘like’ on loads of that Villa fan’s posts.

There may have been a bit of booing as at that point there was a suggestion that he'd turned a loan to us down, although Wolves never made an approach apparently. He always got an amazing reception from us before then, we used to sing his name as he scored hat tricks against us.

Yeah, good player for us, cost about 250k but he had that in him.

    Wolves

Ah that was a great game! I was in the South Bank. Kitely scored a great goal to put us 2-1 up then Keane scored two worldies. Think we'd have got a draw if we had kept 11 men on the pitch.

Cheers chap, I feel the same about Villa Talk generally. You definitely treat me better on here than Villa Fans get treated on Molineux Mix, so there's probably something in it unfortunately. I hate games against the Albion, the venom is something else, it's nothing like this with Villa. I generally don't mind any proper football fans, it's the fans of United and Liverpool mainly that I don't like, mainly because they think their support of their clubs is the same as our support for Wolves or Villa even thought they come from Surrey or something.

    Wolves

I don't want to go over it again, because I agree with this bit, and the majority of Wolves fans I believe feel the same. Twitter is a shithole and Villa fans come across in a similar way. I don't treat anyone on there as a reflection of the wider fanbases.

You might be right, we’ll see, as I say, I’ve seen improvement over the last 12 months.
  21. Andy81

    Wolves

Exactly! I guess there's a certain logic to it, if you can be seen to be in Europe every year it raises your stature as a club and makes it easier to attract players, but bloody hell it's depressing.
  22. Andy81

    Wolves

Absolutely agree. It's a nice problem to have, and what are you gonna do? Just sack off Europe? It could well be the pinnicle for us so you have to embrace it, better to strive than to just attempt to hang on to Premier League status. I really don't think we'll be in danger of having a season like Burnley last year, I would be surprised to see us finish lower than 11th next season, but you never know. I do remember Villa under MoN sacrificing Europe for the league, (away to Hamburg you played the kids and lost 3-0 I think?) but at the time you were looking up the league rather than worrying about relegation so that's fair enough.

    Wolves

Maybe. I'm not his biggest fan, but he does have ability and he's showing signs of improvement, and shows a real desire to want to learn. I think with a full preseason under Nuno he could be a useful player. Even last season in the Premier League we saw teams put two or three men on him opening up space for others. Could go either way, but he's trying and that's all you can ask I guess. I'd still play Doherty over him.
