The player's representative, Jonathan Herrera, in an interview with El VBar Caracol, clarified the situation of the 20-year-old striker
    Quote

"He is a player who has a contract with Aston Villa, he ended up doing things very well and the master counts on him, it is a club that having gotten into the Champions League is a great opportunity, but we know that he wants to play, he wants to go out to play, let's see. Now the market is opening, the club is seeing some options and so are we."

Asked about Chelsea: "Interest has always existed. The fact that Pochettino continues or leaves the club (it should not affect), the one who wants it in the end is the club. He is a player who changes coach or not, it is something that we will see what happens, but there has always been an interest. Let's see what management can be given to him and that Aston Villa is ready."

Yeah, that's how I remember it. We were never the same after the covid outbreak

Yep, our wings were clipped unfortunately… we looked really good beforehand… Berty (big love) was magnificent too… him, JG and RB linking up looked quite magnificent in moments…

I think a few, inc Ross, suffered a few long term effects too…

Anyway, this isn’t the same Barkley… looks like he’s learned from his experience at Nice and Luton and having to prove himself or rebuild… adapting to a more suited (his original or more natural) role. Different player, matured.

I hope he is fit wnough for pre season

I think buendia will be but mings not so sure

He will, Unai already said so and now Ty has given us an update.

There was no point rushing them back and now they get a full (hopefully uninterrupted) preseason in and time to get back in the groove.

    What about Sangare?

Is it Forest he went to?

I remember a few on here wanting him at the time, how did he actually do?

    Underwhelmed apparently…

Surprised really… thought both he and Dominguez were quality DMs that many sides would be interested in. Maybe just not good enough…

Now that they’ve stayed up (and don’t give a shit about the rules 😆) they’ll probably be hanging on to them anyway…

thought they’d managed to bring some decent signings in tbf but maybe not…

if we can get rid of coutinho without the book look then that would be fantastic as he is the biggest drain of the unwanted

Apparently… we’re working on a deal with Vasco (his former club) to loan him initially and they’re obligated to buy him for around £5m afterwards… he’s significantly lowered his wage demands too and both parties really want the move. This is according to Brazilian media.

Cruzeiro wanted him too/first, but he wants Vasco and Vasco want him.

Hope it gets sorted quick, we need a permanent solution.

@Jas10 can we actually sell Archer this summer if we have to re-sign him from Sheffield?

I don’t know the details but I presume so… can’t see why we would have structured the original deal the way we did (I don’t know the details of that either 😆) if we have to keep him/cannot sell him now.

Dunno if it’s dependent on timing, when or how early we get a sale done either.

    Basically… I don’t know shit 😂

Probably not that difficult to find out with a bit of searching online… something might crop up on social media.

Well he was very highly rated 3 years ago, a player totally out of our reach and he has nose dived.

In that case… Unai could revive him. It’s what he does…

Tielemans has been better than many thought or predicted…

They will do their best as they see it, honestly I’d be paying contracts off on some of those players if they are still here in august just to get rid.

Think we’ve already done fairly well to get rid of who we have so far… in the last couple of windows. Previous people in charge really struggled with it but Monchi has fared better in that regard…

Sanson’s gone now, Coutinho is likely to go to Brazil (Vasco)… lot of chatter around that.

If he’s willing to go, Chambers will get a move.

Can we get a good fee for Archer?

    Olsen’s deal up soon?

I’m worried about Dendoncker tbh… his value has plummeted further, limited player, lack of game time… Will we get a decent offer and anyone willing to pay his wages?

We have to rehab Hause and get him a move…

The bigger sales we could make are Digne, Carlos and Cash.

I’m assuming youngsters will continue to be moved on, namely Iroegbunam and Kesler this time.

Surely you saw him loads of Leicester when he was good?

he’s really good at getting the ball back and is a unit so he is better than donk but technically he isn’t

Not much… I’ve paid less and less attention to other teams and even leagues over the years…

    Just focussed on Villa mainly.

missed 55 games in the last three seasons apparently, he isn't even a good passer. When he was playing well he was just really good at winning the ball back IMO.

    I don't like either story/suggestion

Think there will be a mix of the type of signings and fees we pay… a few free transfers, low cost buys or even loans will help pad the squad out with some extra quality and worthwhile options… and we’ll spend much more on a few key additions/upgrades.

Our lack of depth and the drop off when reserves came in was exposed. We weren’t great in ECL and need a better squad for CL. We have to sharpen up defensively most of all.

    Fully trust Unai and Monchi.

I think plenty of players who are not up to standard will be moved on, including youngsters. Sure we mean business.

Yeah thats my thoughts.  Surely a PL club would have grabbed him last sunmee when tehy went down or in jan?

Not sure on ndidi tbh. I can get on board with barkley but ndidi meh

Unai can elevate most players but… I don’t know if he’s good in possession and can pass the ball well… any player coming in has to be really technically gifted.

Is he much of an improvement on Dendoncker? Last thing we need is another version of him… it’s one thing having height and strength but we need mobility and composure on the ball… we are a passing team.

Someone post the links of why people are talking about Barclay and Ndidi

Several valid reports on Barkley (surprised you haven’t seen any), including Telegraph article. Nothing on Ndidi… unless someone on a podcast hearing “whispers” means anything…
