  1. 6/10 (average) window for me. I think we replaced Jack well and replaced Taylor/Elmo. But that’s it. I don’t think too many would of been happy, if Grealish is would of stayed, to only bring in Young and no one else. Overall made the best of a bad situation but not done enough for me to improve on last season.

He does however has superb defensive output so would work in a 2 in midfield say alongside McGinn / Sanson

He could work in a 2 but IMO to play with a midfield 2 you’d need at least 1 natural CDM so would be him and Luiz. Can’t see us saying to McGinn he’s gonna be on the bench. Unless you put Mcginn at 10 which means you can’t play Ings and Watkins unless you put Watkins on the left and then can’t play Buendia or Bailey. I just can’t see it happening at all. I get there are times when players are injured etc, but surely if we we’re to spend £30mill on a player it would have to be a CDM (nailed on starter) you can’t play them all

McKennie scored 5 goals last season.

6* including his goal in the champions league. McGinn Ramsey and Luiz scored 3 between them. The point was is that Mckennie really isn’t a CDM, and we are absolutely stacked in the position (no.8) he plays

  4. Just to round up today’s rumours then:

Delaney - going to Sevilla so this is a non starter

Mckennie - we’re not going to be signing a player who scored more goals last season than our 3 midfields combined to play CDM. So this would be a McGinn/Ramsay/Sanson/Hourihane replacement. Effectively, we are stacked at this position, so this ain’t happening either.

Everything is pointing towards our business has already been done, which I’m okay with. Mid-table season again hopefully.

Wages could be a complication as he's on £85k a week at Dortmund. If the transfer fee is around the reported £15m (I reckon we'll try £12.5m, if we really are interested), that would be tidy though.

At 6ft, he would add a bit of height to the position too.

He’s also going to Sevilla, imagine our names been thrown in there because we have money to speed things up

Problem is what if its Villa causing the delay  trying one last time to get him to commit ?

I am absolutely gutted if he goes but he has unfortunately grown quicker in the last 12 months than we have as a club. He will go into the stratosphere now and there will be his agents at Nike promising him that he will be the face of them in the Uk i guess. He is extremely marketable . Despite their success Man City are quite a bland team and brand and Jack will change that.

It will be a crying shame if we never see him in the claret and blue again

If (now looking more like when) he goes, I don’t want to see him near our club every again tbh.

Seeing a lot of neutral fans saying how toxic we are as a fanbase, only saw this from local fans but maybe that's influence of social media and its role in football. Pretty sure it's a minority though.

I just hope he doesn't get booed if he does leave (Obviously don't want him to leave). Would be nice if we booed him just for bantz like how Man Utd fans did with Beckham's return but they still showed him love. He'll forever be one of my favourite, if not absolute favourite Villa player of all time, can't begrudge him a move at all.

The toxicity happens to every club tbh. This was from an 8 year old Villa fan getting stick from City fans because he got Grealish on the back of his shirt.

and there’s no way if Grealish leaves at the worst time in the NSWE project he should be lauded a hero… he’d of screwed us over for a couple of trophies

I think from a Villa point of view we’ve been effectively in decline for 25 years now we’ve flirted with competing under O'Neil but it’s been up and down and most recently down. We’ve watched as clubs like Chelsea & City have sugar daddies come and they’ve supplanted us in the pecking order. We nearly went under 3 years ago after 5 years of absolute shit while the league had boomed to allow others like Spurs and Leicester become sizeable clubs. We’ve missed out on that and the average football fan seems to only take the last couple of seasons into account so they consider us as small.

we know that we’re a big club, players who come here always remark upon “I didn’t realise how big it was until I got there” so in our heads we’re still one of the traditional big boys. But the average fan doesn’t see it that way and they call us delusional etc and it goads us massively

Meanwhile we’ve turned around and can genuinely hope again to get back to a position where we’ve historically occupied that of one of the top 6 clubs. Because of the hope it’s what makes this so much worse, we’re scared by that last 10 years as a fan base we can’t have it again I know we’d make it through it if it happened but we just can’t bear the thought of selling our best players again and not having our turn of putting the last 25 years right and reasserting ourselves as a big club. Jack is more than a player he’s very much a symbol of that for many fans IMO

The hate for Grealish will be stronger than the hate for Delph if he does leave.

Whether that is right or wrong it's just the way it will be.

I hope he doesn't leave of course, his liking of an Instagram post a couple of days ago and the fingers in ears post is a good sign one would hope.

Anyone know when he's back in the UK?

Pretty sure Tomorrow was being banded about. It will be clear by Monday/Tuesday what’s going on cos that’s when they’re back. And you’re absolutely, one of own…hurts 100 times more

  10. I have made my peace with Grealish leaving. At the end of the day, it’s on him. He’ll lose his legend status, and many will and should boo him on his return. No matter what he’s done for us, to leave us now on the cusp of significant progress with what our owners are doing, shame on him. The worst thing is why is he still liking official posts and sharing posts if he knows he’s leaving, trying to keep side with the villa fans maybe? Doesn’t make sense

small amount of hope that he’ll still sign the contract, but doesn’t look likely

You would like to have thought we learnt lessons from Mings and a price has been agreed should we wish to buy

His contract is up in the summer so technically we should be able to get him on a free? Although surely Chelsea have thought about this, maybe we agreed to give them 5mill more or so.

Now being reported Villa in with a late bid and it’s Brentford’s preferred deal.No surprise never going to be a straight forward deal with the Dilldo boys.

Not seen any reasonable sources suggesting we’ve bid. If anyone thinks/knows we are, I suggest betting on it as we’re 20/1 😂 nothing in this

Here is a question for everyone and answer honestly please.

Because Chelsea have an interest in Benrahma and maybe want to sign him, would you still want Benrahma signed still but if you did sign Rahma you were denied signing Barkley on permanent?

Who would you choose Barkley or Benrahma???

I have to say my answer would be to let chelsea have Benrahma if we could sign Barkley for 15-20 million.

Barkley on a permanent £40mill all day. Gamechanger 👍

After reading the posts relating to the saga over these last 10 pages, what do you think our chances are?

I think Leipzig were never in for him, we had a firm interest at some point. He’ll go to Bayern I reckon. What do you think?

we not even in the relegation zone! i would happily  bet that we wont go down it was always going to be a hard season.

They’re 11th out of 12 with 0 points. How many teams go down?

    That's a great jump to a conclusion.

However, I think you've probably also been missing the mentality of a few on the forum of late and their "delicate" frame of mind on any matters Villa it would appear.

As for toys and prams, you couldn't be more wrong. I've spoken to Mods on and off about threads (even the big one that's locked that I think you're referring too), there is plenty of understanding on the situation and I don't recall any tantrums being thrown in any discussions that have been had with them.

It's stupid posts like this and other posters that have shown a bed wetting mentality during this window that I would say is the bigger problem - Probably why this place has changed so much in recent years. So many good posters disappear year on year because of the rising increase of the roaster mentality that we see on a gradual increase.

One of the reasons why many posters probably stop posting on here for long periods, sometimes for good?

    It was sent to me.

I don't know when it was taken, who made it, if it was photoshopped or what colour boxers he is wearing in the picture though, sorry.   ;)

..Probably nothing to do with anything either?

I agree, the place can be a good laugh when it wants to be.

Fair play. The image is old/fake then!

You honestly think it's ok to verbally abuse somebody because they have a different opinion to you?

If I think Southgate is a prick for say not picking Grealish I should be allowed to post that on here... yes

  18. 4 minutes ago, Greenfly said:

It's the same concept. We're allowed to question why he wouldn't pick Grealish for his squad for example, but we're not allowed to call him a prick for it.

Really? Fair enough mate, we live in different worlds

  19. 1 minute ago, Trickster said:

Negativity? Nothing to do with negativity, it's not even in the same stratosphere as 'negativity'. If you can't see the difference then I really don't know. Wow.

Abuse towards Southgate on Twitter in the same way is equally scummy.

I’m assuming you’ve seen this abuse then? Can you find an example? I’ve not seen it, as I said there’s obviously a line but saying someone has been crap/shouldn’t put on the shirt again IS part and parcel of Twitter and people are entitled to express that.
