It's gonna be a long day, isn't it?
I wonder how many crocked strikers we'll be linked with...
-
Really cant see Adebayor now. He doesn't want to come to Birmingham. Can't see even time's powers of persuasion changing that.
-
I've never been his greatest fan, even in his prime but if it goes through his experience will be useful to have around. He adds to an attacking threat from set pieces as well.
Very true. Whether it's delivery or end product, we never seem to have the biggest threat from set pieces.
-
He's also suffering very badly in comparison to his brother who's already being touted as one of the best signings of the summer. Really hope he scores against Sunderland and starts to build the confidence.
-
Happy with Lescott as cover, now PLEEEEEASE a striker and I'll be happy (until it's time to be depressed again).

It's one of those classic VT problems - there is a quote from the manager and people will either take it at face value, or they will say "smokescreen". In fact, it does make you wonder what the point of information/ the club talking is - they don't say something, we speculate, they do say something, we speculate what they REALLY mean...
Anyway, the point of that mini rant was that Skysports have a little video of Sherwood's press conference today saying he desn't think there will be any more players in, and it'd be a surprise to him and we'd need to get rid of players first!
So are you:
1) Going to take that on face value
or
2) Say it's all a smokescreen to cover the fact we have £30m still left to spend
Didn't he say there'd be no-one coming in, especially not forrins, about 20 mins before Adama turned up?
-
Depends how bad the knock is but with the crappy international break coming up he'll have a couple of weeks to get back to full fitness after this.
-
Don't like Hernandez, but I do think he's the right type of forward we need to add with our creative midfield. On a loan please.

I think C Ronaldo would do a job for us. £120m is a lot but shows our intentions. Gabby and Ronaldo up front would strike fear into most defences.
Amazing if Tim can pull this one off.

Was surprisingly good before he got injured and seems like a very good backup to have in the squad this season. A few wily old pros to help the youngsters new to the league should be really valuable.
-
I'm sure it's not that overt, but they can see what Benteke and Snake have done this summer. Gana said he wanted to be in the Prem shop window to go on to bigger things, Adama now also that he wants to prove himself and get back to Barca.
The huge wealth of the Prem and the fact that it's the most watched league makes it an obvious destination for ambitious players, and assuming they're not ready for the top 4, the 'mid table' clubs are where they'll end up. Stoke, Baggies, Palace, us, Newcastle etc have all signed players of a calibre that is a lot higher than they have been able to in the past.
Dispassionately - it should make for a very exciting season to watch.

It's not 'must' win, it's just WIN. If we can't get 3 points from this game I fear for our season.
As above, but we want to get amongst them so I'd go for Bacuna ahead of Hutton. I'd also consider starting Sinclair up top with Gil and Grealish either side and bring on Rudy to batter them when they're knackered from chasing shadows.
-
I hope he's rested up for Sunderland. Even Gabby should be good enough against them.
Well...maybe not Gabby, but Zog.
Well...maybe not Zog, but anyone else.

That is pretty much what I expected this season under Tim to be like. Roller-coaster but coming out alright by the end.
-
We can't have had this many shots on target for a while. Shame we've forgotten the defending aspect of the game.
-
Erm...at least we can concentrate on the league now?

Sky sport now saying we are close to signing Adem Ljalic.
I know absolutley nothing about this guy.
In that case I think you should get very overexcited about him, before writing him off as a flop in 3 games time.

I think he deserved a chance this season, particularly with our current strike force not yet clicking, but it seems he's not in Tim's plans. From pre-season it looked like he would be.
A loan to Celtic would be good - get his confidence back and shooting boots on in a tin-pot league then come back or have increased his value, which must be pretty low not having played for so long.
-
Really hope that's a bit of Tim dampening expectations. Bit odd after his (albeit tongue in cheek) Messi comparisons.

Nzogbia someone like Wigan on loan picking up a % of his wages has got to be better for all concerned?
For all concerned it has to make sense that Nzogbia goes to a club like, i dont know say Wigan, even on loan with them paying some of his wages
If we can get rid of Nzogbia even some of his wages with him playing at a lower league club like Wigan for 12 months that makes sense surely?
He could do a job for Derby - they seem to like our rejects.
-
Agreed. We must be getting desperate if anyone is considering balotelli or michu. Both completely gone. I wouldn't be mad about adebayor but might do a one season temp job.
-
Striker please. Preferably not a mental or a sicknote or a has-been. (That's you Balotelli, Berbatov, Michu etc).
-
Shall we let him play a game for us before we worry too much about him leaving?
dunno rubberman, sounds like a slippery slope towards being happy about signing a millionty pounds wonderkid off of Barca to me.
Yup. Too risky. I think we should keep him but NOT play him. That way they don't buy him back #2clever
Good plan. Seeing how good Gil has become since he hasn't been playing, Adama will be on another planet.
