I'd be very suprised if we even got 17 points. This squad is mentally shot and the majority really couldn't care less.

Cant see us getting anything at Watford, Newcastle will be fighting for the win and we won't even turn up let alone put up a fight against Arsenal.

"This". We'll finish on 16 points, unless we go into administration.

3rd fewest points in the Premier League era. Shite.

Rumour and factfile: Billionaire US tycoon Larry Ellison's firm linked with 'advanced' Aston Villa takeover talks

Is US computer giant set to take charge at Aston Villa?

Larry Ellison: Rumoured to have been seen around Villa Park. The fifth richest man in the world.

Way back in May last year we speculated about the tycoons who could take charge at Aston Villa , one of those was Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle.

The Californian-based multinational computer technology firm was founded by Ellison, the fifth richest person in the world.

He is a well known sports fanatic and has in the past been rumoured to have been seen at Villa Park .

With a $56 billion wealth, buying and transforming the fortunes of Villa would require mere small change.

It's the latest in a long line of ownership rumours, the latest being the Chinese links earlier in the week.

The Sun are today reporting that Oracle are in advanced talks with Villa Chairman Steve Hollis, if true it would be a takeover that would send waves through British football.

    Who is Larry Ellison?

    NAME : Larry Ellison

    WORTH : $56 billion

TAKEOVER TALK : Ellison, 69, is a super-rich American with a strong interest in sports. Forbes ranked him as the fifth richest man in the world in 2014.

He is CEO of the Californian-based Oracle Corporation, a multinational computer technology firm. He loves movies, and even made a cameo appearance in the 2010 smash Iron Man 2 - but sport is his one true passion, including yacht racing.

A GOOD BET? Ellison is a born winner who was reportedly spotted at the crucial 3 - 1 Villa victory over Hull. His BMW Oracle Racing team enjoyed success in the America’s Cup in February 2010.

He owns many exotic cars, including an Audi R8 and a McLaren F1, but his favourite is the Acura NSX - which he is known to give away to friends as gifts.

He is also a licensed pilot who owns several aircraft.

    Bust-up

More details have emerged about the boardroom bust-up which has blown a hole in Aston Villa's relegation recovery plans.

Villa are reeling after new directors David Bernstein and Sir Mervyn King quit just days after Villa's demotion to the Championship was confirmed.

It is now being reported that the duo took the decision to walk-out after an email exchange criticising the Randy Lerner was leaked to the owner.

The most interesting part of the article which is probably most bollocks is...

Guys given the events of the last few weeks – relegation, state of accounts, the resignations, the deliberate leaking of the resignation letters, King openly discussing need for a sale on TV then the pressure on Lerner is now at levels we haven’t got close to seeing before. We as a fan base now need to do all we can to maintain that pressure.

On Saturday we will have 10,000 banners to hand out. This is twice a many as before and in addition to those we are also encouraging fans to bring their own banners with their own messages. That amount of banners needs a lot of hands to help distribute them. A number of you have stepped forward to help but we need more. Please help us make this another success and hopefully help heap more pressure/focus on the owner.

Contact me or Dave @dont_do_it_doug. by PM or leave a message in this thread if you can help. We will be meeting on the road by the Trinity Road gates adjacent to the McGregor statue from 1:30pm onwards. We really need your help now so please step up.

    Messaged you both. UTV.

Seriously considering a move back to Leamington to be close to family after my dad died.  Trouble is, there is probably only one good company to work for in Leamington and the rest will be in Birmingham.  Secondly, I fully expect the salary not to be good as it is in London.  Unless I get lucky. However, money isn't everything. I do enjoy where I work now and I've got pretty much all the top clients.  May have to put the feelers out with some recruitment consultants (ewww).

Sorry to hear about your dad.

Are you a lawyer per chance?

Aston Villa fans plan to show contempt for board with match walkout

THINGS go from bad to worse for Aston Villa, with a group of disgruntled supporters planning a walk-out at tonight’s game against Everton in protest against the way the club is being run.

The supporters are due to stage their walkout in the 74th minute of the game – the time chosen to reflect the year the club was founded in 1874.

Further walkouts are being planned for the following two home games.

The club currently finds itself bottom of the Premier League with just 16 points –eight points from safety - and relegation looking inevitable.

The protest is the idea of Villa supporter Mark Bricknell, who was quoted on Sky Sports News as saying the club’s support was now down to its hardcore fans.

He claimed thousands of fans had turned their back on the club and were angered by the approach taken by owner Randy Lerner and his board, which is now chaired by former KPMG Midlands chairman Steve Hollis with former Bank of England governor Mervyn King as a non-executive director.

Mr Bricknell said the protest was intended to demonstrate distain for the club’s lack of direction and ambition, which has culminated in this year’s embarrassing performance.

Mr Bricknell and his supporters say they were inspired by the recent protests at Liverpool where fans walked out of a home game against Sunderland in the 77th minute to protest about ticket prices.

That had the effect of persuading the Liverpool board to scrap plans for a proposed price increase.

In the case of Villa, fans hope it will prompt the board to adopt a more positive attitude going forward, although most have resigned themselves to watching Championship football next season.

Well done lads. Also to echo what was said earlier, I can also lend a hand for the other two games if required.

BIG THANKS to all those who've worked their asses off to organize and promote this – amazing effort and exposure being created!  I have a couple of season tickets and me and lad will be walking out on 74 regardless - to protest yes, but also to acknowledge and support the few who’ve worked so hard to organize some positive action. I really hope the broader fan base turn up to get behind this initiative, to send a loud signal to everyone concerned (the management hierarchy, the media, the fan base) that Villa supporters are able and willing to organize to take action. We have more power and influence than we probably realize but that influence requires solidarity and a bit of sacrifice - missing 16-20mins football is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.  This season is done - it is all about creating pressure for next season now IMO.

Absolutely this. Was going to post at lunch today but didn't get time to do so. If I wasn't working until relatively later on in the day I would have offered to leaflet but I just won't be at the ground much before kick off. Some of the posts (no names) really annoyed me. "It would be much better if..", just shows a complete lack of disregard to the organisers of this movement. THEY got off their asses to organise this and the best some people can do is moan on a forum how it won't be as good as a half arsed thought they had. Well done all. See you on the way out during the 74th minute!

  7. I was a bit concerned at 2:45pm this afternoon, even more so after seeing Norwich were leading....

    Now though...

    Bournemouth lost

    Swansea lost

Norwich held to a draw after 2-0 up

Newcastle getting spanked after 20 mins....

Not sure there is that much more we can ask for really.

They even spent 20 million in this window didn't they?

Well they spent money which proves that it's just our tight fisted board and not that we're not balancing the books etc.

Tbh, the whole saga is just depressing. I seriously worry about our future. Yes, we're down. But Lerner is essentially a private owner of a private company that owns Aston Villa. He's not accountable to anyone. If he wanted to run the club into the groud he could do just that. Next season is going to be painful.  Garde will walk unless a sale is imminent and there is no sign of that. Just absolutely deflated at the moment.

I hope he gets lots of support at VP - we need to let him know that we want him here.

Oh I will be giving him my support on Saturday, hopefully in between songs about board members being words removed.

Why would he wait until then?

Only on the basis of the few posts I've seen in the last few pages saying he would stick with the players until the end of the season. I wouldn't blame him for leaving now to be honest.
