And they'll still probably beat us with their reserves....
-
There is no way on this planet we'll stay up

5-1 Southampton.

It would also make all of the claims from the English managers old boys club sound like nonsense when they go on about Premier League experience and inexperienced Johnny Foreigner. Not that it would shut them up. But it would make them look sillier whenever they trotted out the claim after each managerial sacking.
This. You should of heard them on Talkshite this morning. It was vomit inducing, going on about Pearson, Lambert and Sherwood like they are martyrs.

why did they move down the front?
the club accommodated them where they were last season, i can stand all game at the back of the lower holte, so could they, now they've gone down the front and have an issue, brought it on themselves
said many many times on here, they're a load of nonsense
This x100. There was no hassle last year as far as I know when they were up at the back of the Holte End.

Sliva and Aguero not being in the squad helps... a little bit.

Rémi Garde's claret and blue army!
-
Absolutely shocking player.
-
Guzan
Hutton Richards Okore/Crespo* Amavi
Sanchez Gana
Bacuna Gil Sinclair
Ayew

I don't think he's that bad.

I don't see a G in that second picture!

Wonder if Remy will give Kieran Clarke a game?
-
We never seem to do too well at Spurs (apart from last season, obvs). Hopefully we can get something from tonight though.
-
Don't think we will get the coaches.
Why?
-
Is Garde in the country then? Anyone know the extent of the talks?
I would imagine they are still in negotiations as nothing has been confirmed yet.

There is a bluenose who sits opposite me at work who, in our company wide game of Last Man Standing, has picked whatever team is playing Villa in the last two weeks. He will no doubt do it again this week.
Dear Villa,
PLEASE AT LEAST DRAW TO WIPE THE SMUG LOOK OFF HIS FACE.
Thank you.

Says it all really.... even we could see Sherwood's lineups were pap.

Maybe they have a non compete clause?
The idea that Lyon and Aston Villa compete with each other is farcical. I get your jist though, same industry. Usually the greater the geographical distance the less likely a non-compete is enforceable. The fact we're not in the same competitions also helps.
Then again, I'm not a French employment law expert... but that's two things that would be considered if it was over here.
-
I hope not, just as I was warming to the idea of Garde.
-
I imagine because Bayern wouldn't have wanted the buyback and he's already stated he wants to return to Barcelona. (speculation, of course). Nice to read though.
-
I don't think Bacuna is necessarily one of the first names on the sheet. He was the weak link against Palace and depending on what Hutton did last night, he could get the nod.
For me it's the following, taking last night into account*.
Guzan
Hutton Richards Clark Amavi
Westwood Sanchez
Gana
Grealish Sinclair
Gestede
* by which I mean Sinclair's hat-trick
Thin the only reason he would be is as Hutton played 120 mins on Tuesday. Suppose he (Hutton) is no less likely to play than Sinclair though. Either way, options
-
Is it too early in the season to call it a must-win? Is a must-not-lose more accurate?
I imagine the fist seven on the team sheet will be:
Guzan
Bacuna
Richards
Clark
Amavi
Gana
Westwood
After that who knows?
Veretout, Grealish, Sinclair all played 120 mins yesterday and I would play them all again if they were fit and able. Same with Gil although I imagine as he was returning from injury last night he won't be risked as hastily. We also need a bit more balance in midfield.
Presuming Adama will be out via injury. Gestede in the middle up top.
Please just leave Gabby on the bench!
-
Really enjoyed that game.
Thought Richardson and Sanchez were good at the back. Veretout grew into the game. Grealish and Gil were great. Adama is a beast, hope he's ok. Joe Cole was also excellent when he came on (aside for the blocking a goal which I forgive him for).
Jury is still out on Ayew.
Yes they scored three but the deflection was wicked and Burkes goal was a worldie. Don't think I've ever clapped an opponent scoring but I did for that.
Lastly, what does Sinclair have to do to get in the team ahead of Gabby on Saturday?!
-
Surely Sinclair is a better option than Gabby?!

Transfer Speculation January 2016
in Villa Talk
Posted
We're going to sign no-one.
Wouldn't be surprised if Garde walked as soon as the season is over.
Joke club.
