  1. How about this for a line-up then ----------------------Friedel----------------------- Beye--------Davies--------Cuellar--------Shorey Albrighton-----Petrov-------Delph---------Milner --------------A.Young-------Carew--------------- Bench: Guzan, Lichaj, Agbonlahor, Reo-Coker, Sidwell, Gardner, Delfouneso.
  2. I agree, but i think Yakubu would be picked ahead of Jo. Villa's second 11 doesn't look as strong as the others (except Fulham and Everton), though it will do once MON signs 2 more defenders he's supposed to be planning to sign. At least our midfield has strenght in depth this year. This time last year our only wingers were A.Young and Routledge. Now we have A.Young, Milner, Downing, Albrighton and Bannon to choose from. Delph can also play on the wing. (and imo i think Agbonlahor also makes a decent winger) So it's safe to say that we're all sorted there. Gardner didn't even make the second 11, i think if we did sign Sneijder, Gardner would struggle to get a game. I feel that MON would pick Sidwell ahead of Gardner. It's reassuring looking at things this way and does show that our squad has more strength in depth than some fans might think.
  3. L.Young and Bouma still out. Petrov won't be back for this one. I think Heskey is banned. Curtis should be ok. It might be abit too soon to see Beye, but you never know. Albrighton will only start if MON decides to leave Ashley Young out because he started every match in the peace cup, the international coming up on Wednesday and our first Premier League game only one week away. (though he'll probably start and then be taken off in the second half) My prediction of the starting line up is:- Friedel Lichaj Davies Cuellar Shorey Milner Sidwell Gardner Carew Agbonlahor A.Young Bench:- Guzan Clark Lowry Reo-Coker Delph Albrighton Delfouneso
  4. Adding to that, i think its a miricle we kept Barry (the key man). I agree about Maloney, he's a great player. But he and MON just did'nt get along, also looking at things now would have found it hard getting in the team because the competion in midfield is so fierce. It looks like there's gonna be a profit made from that sale and i'd swap James Milner for him anyday. But then again he can also play up front, so may have been that extra striker needed. Maybe MON just wants to give Delfouneso his chance.
  5. Im over the moon with the signings, so im going to be the only one to say 10. I've been a big fan of Luke Young and James Milner for a long time, so i would have done the same. Brad Friedel, could we have got anyone better! Brad Guzan, U.S.A no.1. and only 22 years old. Nicky Shorey, capped for england last season, cant be bad. Steve Sidwell, jose mourinho rated him and was a key part of Readings success. Curtis Davies, deffinatly not a pub team player. Carlos Cuellar, he was fantastic last season.
  6. You would have to be insane to drop barry, even when he plays badly he plays well. He's our best and all-rounded player, he wasn't england captain for nothing. At the moment it should be Milner, Petrov, Barry, Young. But expect to see alot of rotation this season. Fair enough NRC did well today, but how often do we say that? I think its great we have so many talented midfielders to choose from and i think sidwell, milner, gardner, young have massive potential. Expect to see great things happen.
  7. I never said that we did'nt have defensive problems. But i think MON has signed his last defender this summer. Cueller was great last season, we brought in a decent right back (named mr.consistant at boro), davies is more experienced this season and hopefully bouma should be back in a few months. Fingers crossed things will get better. But we still need another striker and maybe a right mid. MON has already made an approach for doyle and why do you think he's been trying to sign J.Cole, bentley, milner .etc

  9. I just still expect more from Petrov, i feel like he hasn't lived up to his name and isnt consistant enough. I dont how you can say Barry played like an average player, he was part of nearly every creative move in our attack. Without him we would'nt have won so easy. And as for the right wing, do you expect all of our play to come from left and one serge down the right every game. Goals will become a problem when playing the big teams & they're the ones we need to start beating if we want to make the top 4
  10. Fantastic start to season and it looks like things are going to get better at villa park. We havn't had a squad this good since the days when Gregory first came in. Barry and A.Young were amazing and are unstoppable when at their best. But im still abit disappointed in shorey and petrov. Quite clearly from that game our best play comes from down the left. If we can get a decent attracking right winger we could make the top 4. Where was Maloney BTW, i think we should be playing him on the right.
