He has. He works together with Mackenzie (Head of Recruitment) to find targets, but Lange will most likely be responsible for sourcing from overseas and he doesn't appear to be finding anything.

He was a like for like replacement for Suso and has the same job title.

So not quite sure what that comment was all about.

Thanks, When do they start work? 😜

I don't know if all these links are just rubbish but this is getting increasingly tiresome now.

FWIW, again I don't think Brewster is the answer. Much rather if we can't get Tammy or Edouard (who are the best strikers that have been linked, accurately or not, with AVFC) take a punt on a young hotshot striker in Europe (maybe go for Leao again) or go for someone like Batshuayi. Brewster is completely unproven and we'd be naive to spend £20m on him.

With time running out I actually don't know why we don't just start loaning a few players now to take us to that next level. Might attract a few names too as they have nothing to lose if they're only coming on loan. Chelsea have a bucket list of players they're looking to move on, Loftus Cheek, Batshuayi and Christensen would do nicely.

Given the reported wage difficulty (FFP) it might need to be this solution with parent club sharing wages for the loan period. If we stay up this year problem eases for the following season.

I remember an interview with Wilder about the midfielder they signed in January (don't remember the name)

And he didn't want to sign for them in the summer because he thought they were relegation fodder. By January the club looked a better prospect to him and he signed for them.

This may be the reality if we are going for the top talents. We aren't proven enough as a club yet. Players will look at us as a bottom 5 club. Would not surprise me one bit if Benrahma and Watkins are waiting around for better options.

I totally agree with you, I don't subscribe to the "Dean can't attract players" idea; its more the club just survived relegation last year so are a genuine risk for players thinking of coming here. The Sheffield player you refer to is Sander Berge iirc.

We may need to shop abroad in a lower price bracket for another year yet and hope we survive this next campaign with a bit more comfort. in 2021-22 we can then attract the better quality players we all crave.

I don't really see the relevance.

If wilson turns us down are we getting a striker that scored more Premier league goals than him last season?

My point was Wesley's scoring rate is same as Wilson's. Both crap. The original question was"Do you think we'll sign better than wilson if he turns us down?"  My answer was yes because Wilson is no better statistcally than Wesley

    Prolific?

If you read the answer to the question I am not saying either are prolific but Wesley is equally likely to score than Wilson. My hope is we still try for Edouard and secure Watkins

His agent suggests he wants the Newcastle move according to lee ryder. That’s that then

We can but hope. Obscene money for a 28yo injury prone AVERAGE striker. Pay Celtic what they want for Edouard. He is only 22 so will be an increasing asset.

The Athletic are reporting that Newcastle have bid 17.5m plus add ons and confirmed that Bournemouth want Matt Ritchie. I can see that deal coming off which is a shame because I was just warming to the idea.

That's the desperation kicking in!! I would prefer King from Bournemouth anyway.

Despite the Baggies being an inbred load of garbage, surely the fact he was on loan for a season and knows the players and management would mean he would be more likely to want to go back. Unless we offer to pay him more.

Exactly, Unless we offer to pay him more. which we could.

And Watkins can definitely play wide as well as up front - I think Wesley probably can as well - so while they would all be competing for the ‘number 9 shirt’ as sole striker, that would give us more flexibility across the front three. Might also explain (if it’s happening) why we don’t seem to be chasing any new wingers.

I think you are right. Cash signing supports idea of 2 raiding modern full backs so could have 3 mobile strikers up front. All 3 seem happy to press and run channels so could work.

Cash (if he joins), will almost certainly be direct competition for Guilbert, i cant see him playing further upfield, as if that happens we will have made some huge transfer window mistakes....

It might be that Dean is planning for the option of 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 with targett and cash pushing much further forward. Nice to have alternative line up options but I still want a pacy winger

Brentford have 2 or 3 in the box for every cross, they know if it is put in around the 6 yard box watkins will be there. He doesn't give up and throws limbs at the ball in the right areas ( infront of goal). Hard working, not willing to give up and brave.

We would have to improve our attack support for his style of forward play.

Looking at the video he seems to position on the left to cut in or bursts through the centre from deeper. If we go for him, and I think we should; we will still be crying out for a left footed right winger and I would suggest Buendia as he is both creative and will defend.

Trying to second guess Dean's thoughts we could line up :

                                               Heaton/New

    Cash/Guilbert           Konza          Mings            Targett/Henry

                                               Luiz

                              Mcginn                Swift/Hourihane

    Buendia/Trez                  Watkins                               Jack

Those new additions add up to approx £100m

The concern is there will still not be much pace but we might end up increasing possession which will help defensively.

Aston Villa will make their first signing by Friday at 12pm. The signing is in the final stages and will be announced Friday at the latest.

Still a price with the selling club to be agreed, which could scupper the deal. And personal terms with the player haven't been agreed yet, so there's every chance it could fall down there too.

But if all that goes to plan, then we'll have a signing by Friday. But of course it might not go to plan in which case we won't.

    Thanks for that, very inciteful

I have no clue how to upload pictures here so I hope a link is okay: https://ibb.co/6FfdHgm. You have to follow Rashicas account then find the picure on 433 and it'll show that it is liked by him and xxxxxxx other people.

Also maybe don't make too much of it. Worum just always goes wild when things like this happen but thats part of the fun.

Does that mean we can go back to drooling over BenRahama now 😜
