I’ve not heard this. Got a link? I know his contract is up in June. So compensation should be relatively low.

It was a tweet from that fpl Lyric guy who seems to know some stuff about a week ago. Found it

It seems to me that the board are doing the sensible thing of trying to agree a deal for a new manager before sacking the incumbent. Once you get to that stage, results are pretty much irrelevant. He could win the next two matches (we’ll win at least one of them) and still get sacked.

The board are doing things properly and we just need to trust them. The most important thing is that we get the right replacement. Unless the wheels come off totally, which they’ve showed no signs of doing, we will keep Gerrard until his replacement is ready to go.

I think you are bang on here. I have read somewhere Emery is interested but has a situation where he cannot move until November. Maybe bonus related? I've had a punt at 6/1 in hope.🤞

If Dendonker is fit, agreed. If not I'd love to see Sanson given a shot

True, probably save it for one of those thf

Dilemma, not sure if there will be any double game weeks this year and Pep could either rest Haarland or only play him 45mins ( actually that will be enough time) with CL game in the week.

Nah, I’m sure’s he absolutely desperate to turn this mess around. I think the truly stressful thing at the moment for him will be that the Liverpool job is so far from reach,  it’s disappeared over the horizon. I reckon that must be really eating him up inside. So whilst I doubt he cares that much for Villa, I know he really cares about that Liverpool job.

I actually think we might even see some drastic action today in turns of team selection and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him finally drop McGinn.

He might well drop McGinn as a last throw of the dice. I'm sure it won't make any difference as it looks like he has lost the support of the players now. still bye, bye stevie for me.

Coutinho looks miles off a Premier League player right now so shouldn't be near the starting lineup.

Buendia should play but out wide as he isn't strong enough to hold the ball against the bigger players he faces through the middle.

With those in mind I would play something like this from now on:

    ----------------------Martinez---------------------

    Cash-----Chambers---Mings----Digne

    -----------Dendoncker------Kamara---------

    Bailey-----------------Luiz------------Buendia

    ------------------------Watkins---------------------

That would be my team aswell. Depending on who we are playing it can easily be 4-3-3 with Luis as a proper 8 and Bailey and Buendia further up as wide forwards

Today's signings do feel like 'club' signings. Bednarek is a long term target of Lange and is a prime 'statto' signing. His numbers look good even if performances don't excite the imagination.

Dendoncker just doesn't strike me as a Gerrard style buy - he's too run of the mill, does a simple, specific job to a certain extent. I would not be surprised if again he's a player the club has identified as meeting a key need.

Which suggests maybe, if this is the case, that the club is acting in the knowledge the manager is done.

Which he basically is. The minute the story became 4 games to save himself he was done.

I agree, both signings are pragmatic and Dendonker certainly isn't a Gerrard type signing. God forbid we might actually play 4231 now.

Honestly after thinking about it I would take Sean Dyche. Good at operating at that relegation level, but also worked wonders at Burnley for years and deserves a club with a bit of backing to see what he can do. Certainly we wouldn't have a disappearing midfield with him.

thought about him also. Not a light up the sky appointment but would bring a solidity to the team, which we desperately need and he could start Saturday 😛

We’ve started badly that’s clear for all to see, this evening wasn’t  easy viewing but after the way arsenal have been playing did we really expect anything? Are we expecting anything Saturday? We will more than likely get beat but we aren’t competing with these top teams this season. Why would the hatred of the manager get worse after losing to the best 2 teams in the league? As I’ve been criticised before in saying we employed an inexperienced manager who is finding his feet. He’s struggling and needs to be backed. Look at arsenal last year they were getting smashed by Brentford, Chelsea and Man City, people were screaming for arteta’s head saying he’s clueless, out of his depth but they gave him the season. Had a run of winnable games and he turned it around. This season they are pushing on as a United group. Why couldn’t this happen for gerrard? We have an extended break this season at least give him till the World Cup. People on here saying “I hope we lose to apply more pressure” are genuinely pathetic.

I just want Poch to being that 4-2-3-1 with that super sexy double pivot of Kamara and Luiz. How sexy would this be:-

                                           Martinez

    Cash                 Chambers          Mings             Digne

                            Kamara                   Luiz

    Bailey                           Buendia                   Coutinho

                                             Ings

That is not a bottom half team.

    Looks good to me!

He’ll be gone by Thursday. We’ll be two or three nil down by HT tomorrow night and the away fans will turn. That will then be that.

He’s currently 3/1 in the sack race. Free money if you ask me 🤑

I had him @ 14/1 until bloody Bournmouth sacked Parker 😡

We’ve got him for another 3 years. Letting him learn this season will benefit us long term. His personal development is arguably more important than the teams results. One step backwards. 2 steps forward.

You really want to earn yourself a reputation on here don't you. I cannot think there are many Villa supporters willing to allow SG to relegate Aston Villa

Pre West Ham game he was 5/1 third favourite for the next manager to leave betting odds.

    He's now 9/4 second favourite.

It can only be just a case of when.

I was on at 14's right after Bournmouth game. Hopefully win, win

    Prandelli perhaps?

Actually Mancini could probably be prised out of Italy job given they haven't made the world cup so that could be sort of big name and proven winner the owners would be up for hiring.

    Good shout

Including Archer and Hause and Sarr asking for too much in personal terms. Probably just too complicated and us walking away makes sense.

Sarr wants to leave and Watford want to sell so someone will sign him.

    Spot on

    Maybe we will go:

    -------------Watkins-------------
    Bailey----Buendia-----Sarr
    --------Luiz------Kamara-----
    Digne-Mings-Chambers-Cash

    We can but hope....

with no further signings and Gerard in charge at best this is massively optimistic.  I'd go with wildly deluded. city, pool, spurs, arse, Chelsea, utd, West ham, Brighton, Newcastle, Leicester, Palace, Wolves, Brentford are all better than us.  we'll be fighting with Southampton & Everton for 13th/14th.

    Agreed
