At this moment sounded like even Lucy Ward was criticical of the commentator herself

Watching that again the ref booked him but knew the rules so explained to Dougie he’s not sent off.  Fair play he knew that rule. If only he knew that every time a crowd boos you don’t have to give a yellow card.

    Lucky feckers!

Unlucky more like. Just look at how many Premier League games they have to play in a very short space of time not to mention the teams they play.  I’ve said it before but if they get top 4 after that then hats off to them. They deserve it.

  3. I always felt he had this in him which is why I defended him so much and got annoyed with fans turning him.

Im not feeling that vibe as much from Diaby because I haven’t seen him try to beat players the way Bailey always did even when he was struggling.  That’s why I think the comparisons are a bit different.

Hopefully Diaby can add that to his game too.

He is a fiery bloke. But when it comes to penalites he seems like he is the calmest player on the pitch.  Deep breaths, total concentration. Totally still. No outside influences. He is as good as Martinez in those moments. I wonder if he uses a psychologist for his penalites as he waits for so long after the whistle goes.

I reckon all those hours playing COD paid off!

  5. He has a lot of ability so hopefully comes good but he’s definitely struggling for consistency at the moment.  The price tag can’t be helping.

Can't believe coefficient FC are outside the CL places. After all the money they've spent.

I don’t think it would have happened for the last 6-7 or years ! Sod’s Law.

Right let’s deal with Bournemouth now.

The stupid thing is both yellow cards tonight were total BS. Honestly that referee should be removed from Conference League fixtures because it didn't even seem like he understood the rules.

15 bookings tonight if you include the managers. Wasn’t even a dirty game.

  8. I loved the way he tried his shithousery after our first penalty and then quickly dropped the ball when remembered he on a yellow.

I don’t think anybody in the ground seemed to know the yellow card rule including Emi. I know I didn’t.

Is he now suspended for the semi first leg? He technically got two yellows so should it be a one match ban?

Nah they all get wiped. I never knew that rule though. I guess you can’t make subs during penalties so it makes sense.

I thought the yellow was a tad harsh as the crowd got him that card

Lille keeper had the ball longer at one stage in 2nd half

Card was a joke. Referee was lost out there. He held the ball for long periods but it was at his feet !

Having lived through so much pain for Villa wanting CL so much and making it do or die was stressing me out to no end. Being defeatist is a way of avoiding the pain of failure.

But what is failure? I think we are now a top 8 side and we can compete for trophies and CL places and win any football game against any side. If we end 7th one season and 5th and get CL another as long as we can be sustainable and compete isn't that success?

So by that metric this season is a success a resounding one. Nothing that can happen over the final games of the season can really change that

Once I look at it from that perspective life isn't as stressful and every game doesn't bring agonising levels of nerves and stress.

Glad you’ve found peace.  Also remember it’s only a game.

  12. Was never his biggest fan but I miss him. I reckon he would have thrived this season with our style of play. He was always at his best picking up the ball in the hole on the turn and that pass has been key to our success this season.

It does when you consider they're friends and both footballers.

But when he then wears it and dances around in it to have that posted on social media, it does make you wonder... 😉

tbf it’s not like we’re a rival. Not until next season anyway ;)

If we end up 5th sporting wise the Europa League is a better competition next season as there are no CL sides dropping into it. So surely we'd be amongst the favourites to win it. Also if we can make the final of The ECL we'll have a decent enough seeding for Europa.

The loss of the extra CL place for Prem was a blip this season most seasons there will be 5 and with Europa we'll have an opportunity to win that and qualify.

5th and Europa League of that's what it ends up as is progression. Sporting fate robbed it of being CL qualification this year but of we get to 70 points whatever happens that's a huge achievement with the injury problems we've had.

I worry a little this summer about the finances but seeing how Rogers has turned out so far is encouraging in terms of recruitment. While a season with Ramsey, Mings and Buendia back fit would be welcome boost. Duran is progressing too.

Who are you and what have you done to @CVByrne

Apparently, they’re expecting quite a few Villa fans in the home end this evening

50k stadium and I think they average 40k in the league so probably would have been easy to get tickets.

It's just a bit of fun, dunno why it  seems to upset some people 😂 I understand it's all in our own hands and if we don't finish 4th we don't deserve it, the whole coefficient thing just added another layer to it all and another way to enjoy games I never really would have been too bothered about.

Yeh I don’t get the big deal. It’s not like fans went out and purchased replica Arsenal and City shirts and then got a tattoo of a cannon shooting out a blue moon on their arses.

Fans just watched some games that they probably wouldn’t have bothered normally.
