  1. He's built a bit like me.

I assume he isn't going on international duty, so hopefully Garde can work hard with him on the training ground and get him ready for the first team.

  2. This is the best thing I've heard yet. Paul Merson thinks we should have gone a different way.

“I would go and get Nigel Pearson tomorrow morning,” Merson said. “I think Tim [Sherwood] was unlucky, but now he’s not there I would go and get Nigel Pearson.

“He’s proven, the job he’s done at Leicester City was phenomenal.

“You bring in Remi Garde, a foreign manager who has never worked in the Premier League, and he might take six months to get used to it. By then, it could be all over.”

Why the **** didn't we hire Nigel Pearson?! You couldn't make it up.

I'm sorry but 98% of ex footballers (Gary Neville and some others are in those 2%) are complete and utter idiots.

We think this opinion is ridiculous today, because of course we're being optimistic this week. But for all any of us knows he could be absolutely right.

    is he Bollox

See how it looks at the end of the season

exactly but seems some on here also can't do that either how many are on here day in day out after 10 games saying we are down and out with no hope. Let's all hang fire and see what happens? Good job Remi and the players don't think like us fans. Hey might as well give up seeing as some have already on this great forum.

is he Bollox he's As right as all the people on here who have been adamant for he last five seasons convinced we are down and out after 10 odd games. Give me a foreign manager with new ideas and who knows more than the 'English' hustle X do bustle crap I've seen for the last God knows how many years.

  4. Banning speaking french? Hmmm. Can't say I see that as a good move.

You are probably right. I mean it definitely makes more sense to have poor communication on the pitch, in the dressing room and at BMH.

In a potentially divided dressing room short of confidence ensuring everyone speaks the same language is absolutely guaranteed to make things worse.

Especially when it's a language none of them can speak. It's certainly it going to help those French players adjust to loving and working in England.

What a fool Garde is, I can't believe he hasn't followed Wenger's example and made everyone only speak French. Ray Palour, Merson and Tony Adams all clearly benefited from it.

So to ensure communication is solid, languages need to be banned?

Surely a better way to increase communication and indeed team morale might be for the English players to help the french players speak English and at the same time gabby and Co could learn another language themselves.

I didn't say languages need to be banned, I rather suspect Garde didn't either but it makes for a good headline especially for certain elements of the media.

Are you seriously trying to argue that the rest of the squad should learn French, despite probably having no grounding in it in order to help these players make the transition. And that that is a better idea than the French players, most of whom already actually speak English and all of whom have at least some English use that language. The language of the country they are now living and working.

Never mind the fact there are more English speakers than French, lets cancel training two days a week and get a language tutor in and they can learn to ask where the bakery is. I'm sure that will help us mark on corners.

What about the other nationalities? Do the rest of the squad need to learn Spanish as well as French?

I'm sorry but this criticism is just a little daft and actually seems like criticism for the sake of it.

Wenger insisted on English back in 1996 and so i'd imagine does just about every other overseas manager working in this country, just as I'm sure is the case all over Europe the domestic language is the language of the dressing room.

How would a little clique of players speaking in French to each other help the morale exactly?

He didn't say "banning" though. The press have twisted his words to make it sound stricter than he said it.

Pochettino (sp?) couldn't speak a word of English but now he does (albeit still not fluent) so he could communicate with the players - as I am sure the Spurs non british also learned to speak English, but then the press didn't report it as it has here and I'm sure Spurs fans didn't jump on it (or would have) if it had been reported as such. There is enough to knock Villa with but this is not one of the things. Even Pellegrini has improved his English too as I'm sure have the foreigners in that team.

  5. A great write up on the bbc website by their European football correspondent Andy Brassell about garde and what he brings. Looking forward to it as I think it will be a breath of fresh air as opposed to false dawns and stale air with the same old same old tactics (or non tactics) of the British manager

  6. I thought Sunderland had a great manager ? His bounce is the same as sherwood non- existent! Losing 5-2 and with a supposedly better team swing as most fans say we are shite. Give me a foreign manager any day fed up of the 'English/british' way. If we go down (we won't) rather enjoy the game than watch the same style under the last few. A manager ghat doesn't rely on huff and puff but on tactics other than hoof and run.

Big Sam's bounce as much use as a fart in a colander.

Allardyce will keep Sunderland up easily

not if they lose he won't we have as much chance as he does. Let's see what happens eh? Lots of games and points to play for and we have as much chance as blunderland and the others.

such a shut team yet still clear above us and with a manager proven in this league and proven at keeping clubs up. Wouldn't mind betting they'll still be clear above us after the next two games which will represent a third of the season

since when was 2 points well clear ? Anything to find fault in and put s negative spin on anything. Wow we must surely be down and out seeing as we are a huge 5 points off 16th - all is lost let's just give up shall we.

  7. Re:  Foreign vs British managers

"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got."

Also, Lawro is a word removed

don't be rude to words removed! He's worse than that he's in a par with bluenoses!

  9. Tbf Allardyce in the long run will have them hard to beat, not that I've ever wanted him as villa manager.

maybe but he was supposed to now make them climb up the table and save them. Hard to beat but boring and you think some fans would settle for that? They were on about wanting to lose playing well than scrape a draw or a loss playing shit under lambert and then sherwood! Rather go down ( we did before)  and came back from the ashes than put up with any more shit British managers. Look at the top teams at the moment most if not all foreign.

  11. Rubbish long ball manager and the one some would rather have seen us get relegated than see appointed manager has got his Sunderland team playing really well against Everton.

    and losing!!

  12. If its a 3 and a half year deal you would expect him and his team to stay even if we get relegated right?

unless the fans want him sacked and club pays the compensation and we start again and get big Sam and then sack him when the fans get fed up of boring football then we start again until a new owner comes in and then repeat ad infinitum

  13. We **** up by not getting Big Sam in to be honest

    Big f*ck up

now now allerdyce is not that bad I'm sure he's a nice bloke and all that but to call him a f**k up is a bit rude- what's he done to you to warrant you calling him that.

  14. Jesus must be the shortest premier league campaign ever seeing as we are already dead and buried! Which other teams have joined us? I'll ask for a refund as I paid for 19 home games and have seen only 4 . Looked at the table and not much has changed. Still only 5 points off 16th and 7 behind Chelsea but all is lost it seems. Baggies lost as Leicester made another fight back so proves its not just us that capitulate. Still in the mix to get out of trouble and we have enough games left to do it. I'll try and dig out the Samaritans phone number it may help to talk to someone and put your minds at ease.

  15. Don't think we will get the coaches.

    Why?

    #wobble2

you git you made me spurt my coffee all over the table made me lol. !!

So so many wobbles about in the past week!

Asda must have had a rise in incontinence pants with so much pant and knicker wetting cos we have no manager after just one week. Sunderland took a couple of weeks to get a uk based manager.

We will have a manager in place by man city I'm confident.

  16. So do no Swansea players face action over this?

Can't believe they haven't taken retrospective action over Fernandes headbutt

they can't as they both were booked by the referee at the time.

    Williams was not Fernandez

ahh!  My bad can't tell the difference people from Wales all look the same to me. :-)

  17. Galtier's interesting. More than twice the experience of Garde as a manger but his experience is limited to the French league only (Garde played in the prem at least).

I'm a good manger too I love my food and drink think I got a chance here. Might put myself forward. I'm a shit manager at football mind.
