In a hotel. By yourself. Bored. I'm surprised youve used your bandwidth to access VT.

I think you missed the irony in my Post!

Doh! That's what happens when you live out of a suitcase on business and you are in a hotel early in the morning bored shitless. Realised after I posted but there are some who still think like the post you did!

6th place?  RDM out NOW!!!  we should have got in Moyes,  only man for the job with his recent successes.

Most recent success was getting the sack twice yeah let's go get a failure whose been sacked (same argument used against RDM). RDM anytime he's won more than moyes. He couldn't succeed with a decent Spanish team. Yeah right! Thanks but no thanks had enough of dour Scottish managers.

I think we have a solution to the problem of slackers in our squad...

It's something I found out recently. Her uncles knew them and when she was young she remembers them well. I've seen photos of them together. That's why when she tells me to do something I don't hesitate! :-)

Respect for what he did at MK dons - think they are the only club he hasn't been sacked from.

There's very few managers who have not been sacked. Sacking doesn't necessarily mean crap. Big Ron was not carp nor was little nor Vic Crowe or Tony Barton or clough (Brian).

sacked (or forced out ala Gregory) doesn't make you shit (apart from mcleish).

pearson was also sacked as was moyes but you'd have them even though they achieved less than RDM? Go figure!!

  7. I bet many on here have done something 'illegal' in one form or another - no ones perfect and deserves a chance unless they are mass muderers and the like! He was maybe implicated but no charges were brought against him. Was he convicted or is this guilt by association in which case I'm guilty as f*** cos some of my partners family were associates of the Krays and a Buster  Edwards. If bond can be a good coach then what's the problem?

Pearson all the way. Matteo is more like Tony Barton. Winning a cup he can with a bit of luck, but maybe, just maybe, not the one to take the team up from the championship. But that's just my opinion.

I think he did you know -  Take a team up from the championship to the PL ! but because it's the baggies he must be rubbish. I'd rather take a winner in both management and player wise any day!

Also, he picked Ryan Bertrand to play left wing in front of Ashley Cole in the final to help against Robben.  He'd never played a European game before that night, which showed balls from Di Matteo to throw him in there like that.  I doubt that was Terry and Drogba's idea.  He's shown he can be successful at the lower levels, the highest level, playing attractive football and playing anti-football, if we can get his backroom staff the way he wants it and enough money to get the right players, we should be on to a winner.

So matteo did a big Ron then when he played Fenton against Utd completely left field that! I'd call that astute!

Let me put it this way SGC. I think it's fair to say that no sane person on the planet would rate amavi as world class now. He simply isn't - nowhere near.

You currently have him as 'fabulous'. Let's say he gets half way to being world class from here, what superlative will you have for him then?

We've had this discussion before.... you leave no room for superlatives.

What's senokot got to do with this thread? Oh shit! Sorry my bad misread! I'm dwealoxyc ;-)

  12. How the hell can fans know a persons personality without meeting them or knowing them. Granted some footballers are thick as pig shit (gabby), but I don't know the personality of most on here and cannot assume to know it without meeting you or talking to you. I can tell from posts if you're a knob or not (as you all think I am) but i'd be wrong as you could be a really nice decent person with a great personality. Anyway what has that got to do with being a manager. I want a winner someone who wants to Instill a winning mentality in the team not an Eric black or mcleish. If the older so called experienced players have no respect for RDM then they can **** off and let the younger blood who will look up to him have a chance. Bet there are players who will probably be itching to get a chance to join us after seeing what's unfolded with new owner manager and plans that are afoot.

i liked him as a player! If he can motivate the players to achieve even half as much as he did then what's the problem. He's won more in the game than any of these freeloaders have ever or will ever win.

I don't think you remember 87 very well! Our crowds were shit, they were about 18000. We didn't even half fill villa park.

My bad well I'm am nearing my 60's so it's fading. Swore we had decent crowds in 87 ! Still we got huge ones in 71-72 and when we came up from div2 but thanks buddy I stand corrected.

What?? Lowest average attendance in history? I think you'll be surprised. We have had hardly any wins at home in the last 4/5 years and we'll probably match the amount we did next season! We have a new owner (hopefully) and with the appointment of a decent manager the crowds will be there. Most fans go to watch the Villa not because it's in the PL but because we are fans. We will easily have 35000 next year if we have a glimmer of success. Xia has said the Newcastle game was a big factor in getting the deal signed. If he is true to his word we might have some good times back at VP.

When we were relegated down to div 3 we regularly got 35-49k. Bournemouth at VP. we got just under 49k. Went down in 87 still got big crowds. The premier league era fans might go away as they think football only exists there and not outside the PL but we have always had good support in the lower leagues. I think we will get big crowds and lots of the clubs playing against us will have big crowds because no matter what people think we still are a huge club with a big name and following and fans of those clubs have never visited villa park - they'll be in for a shock at the size and atmosphere especially if it's like the Newcastle game!!

I'm POSITIVE this thread was accidentally started on the wrong forum.

Actually, I'm glad to see it.

I will be happy with any of the new manager options being tossed about because none of them are named Black.  I'm happy with Xia because he is not named Randy.  I'll be happy with any player sale we make (some more than others, clearly).  I'll be happy with any player purchase because it means a rebuild is on.   I'll be happy to see the scouting network overhauled.  Come to think of it, this may be the only thread I ever read again.   +++++++

Yeah he can't be randy they have a strict policy in number of children per family I believe! ;-)

  17. Yeah my only criticism of Gil is that at times I think he does play very risk free and I'd like him to almost drive towards goal a bit more rather than move the ball on square.

With Jack,  he will pick the ball up in between the lines,  turn and then go forward whilst facing goal.  Would like to see Gil do this too.

But that is the problem (and it's not pointed at all the fans) but where I sit - every time a player loses the ball or tries something that fails - he gets slagged off and the groans start. I have to bite my lip in case it starts off cos that really irks!. Bloke behind me just goes off on one after EVERY misplaced pass or failed attempt to defend or whatever. He even went off on one when Gil lost the ball and started slagging him off!

Maybe he's a bit apprehensive seeing as some fans don't seem to have the patience/control during a game. Just my take - I think as he plays more and gets confident he (and others) will start taking more risks and attempt at least to score more often!
