What? No swooping done yet?, no "advanced" talks? What's going on?
Perhaps the table wasn’t ready?

ye, Emery apparently said that he prefers a 433/4141 (the assumption is he means this "if" he has the quality of players to make the most out of those formations).
He said that he likes to use 442 the underdog type teams as it offers better defensive stability etc.
Makes perfect sense tbf. I did wonder if things would change based on incoming players. So many managers make players player their formation regardless. The fact Emery builds his based on the squad shows how impressive his thinking is. We’ve had so many managers putting square pegs in round holes.

yes.
433 and 4141 are Emery's favourite tactics.
Ah, I assumed the 4-2-2-2 was his preferred formation. I actually like a 4-3-3.

When Unai has his own players in we may shift to a 4-3-3.
Just a question as I honestly don’t know. But has Emery ever regularly played a 4-3-3?

He was utterly, utterly terrible.
Ironic.
Maybe Bailey just needs Jack to slag him off in an interview to get the fire going?

Let’s play a game!
Budget/value/wages aren’t an issue. They’re immaterial for the purpose of this exercise.
You’ve got 4 to pick. Who are you choosing…
P. Torres
Lee Kang In
F. Torres
M. Asensio
P. Goncalves
H. Barnes
M. Ugarte
Guendouzi
N. Williams
D. Ceballos
Lo Celso
A. Buena
M. Merino
Y. Pino(I’m sure I’ve forgotten more)…

I’d be curious what Mings did to rub you the wrong way. He seems like a top man to me.
The first he was just pissed out of his skull, loudest person in the room, nothing personal to me. The second however, a group of us saw him and McGinn together, he came over and took some pictures but Tyrone just completely blanked everyone, my friend tried talking to him and he just kept walking, completely ignorant. McGinn actually apologised. He could be ok but my impression after that is he’s not.

Would absolutely love to meet Martinez, seems like a genuinely good guy and I love how he’s blossomed with us after being so under appreciated at Arsenal. I met Ashley Young years ago up town and he was a real gent. I met McGinn and Jack a few times in the pub, McGinn is everything you’d expect him to be, hilarious. I’ve met Tyrone twice and both times he’s been an absolute end.

Great performances all around, again the turn around is unbelievable. We wasted chances to kill the game even after they equalised, bit more composure and we would scored again.
Ref allowed Liverpool to constantly foul us in transition and never gave a yellow card early enough. Next season we best these home and away.
We’re two or three Kamara level players away from being a serious threat to the top four next year. The squad and the bench will be stronger next season I’m sure.

This is why he won’t be starting next season. He’s a good player but not good enough.

I’m sensing a win, I can feel it in my loins.

I think in the Dean Smith days he would have been a good signing for where we were at the time as a club.
He's got a cracking free kick on him, but as you say, if we're looking at top 6 quality players from Europe, he doesn't fit where we want to go as a team moving forward.
Shows how far we've came as a club.
It really wasn’t long ago that we were languishing in the championship. Massive respect to NSWE for how good a job they’ve done in such a short time.

I'm not that bothered about that mickey mouse cup
I agree. It does seem like some of our players fall at the final hurdle when it comes to mentality though. We do need ‘winners’ added to this team, I am very hopeful under Emery of getting those players.

Are we on the beach? Lads look like they wouldn’t want Europe even if it was a possibility.

To be fair, so far based on his tenure it might be. What's holding us back is the Gerrard handicap from the start of the season.
I came on to post the same thing. I was worried about relegation at one point this season, the fact that we’re even talking about European football after our start is enough for me. I genuinely can’t bloody wait for next season though.

Rather him than Chambers. Not that Chambers is a bad player, but Dendonker is at least natural in that position.

To be fair we’re about to get a “new signing” in CB in the next couple of weeks.
That’s true, I’ve not seen too much of Diego to be honest but lots of others rate him.

But if we were to sign say two unrealistic targets all summer, we’d all be over the moon.
