  1. Hello General Can i say anything the Club does to lift the spirits on a cold, wet Birmingham day/night will always be welcome most fans I would like to echo paulandonya's idea about the claret n blue loo rolls, would look awesome with the flag going round too! I suppose a small blues badge printed in the centre of the toilet tissues would be out of the question??? It would make me smile as i wiped!
  2. Hello General, On the HOK report, do they themselves project future attendances and then make their suggestions or does the Board tell them what attendances they expect and then they work around that? If its the latter, what are the chances of you telling us the rough size of the stadium when expansion is finished? 45-50? 50-60? 60+? Also, do you think there would be any interest from documentary makers following the build, ie Extreme Engineering type programs that show on Discovery type channels? Keep up the good work
  3. Does Heskey have a sense of humour??? If he does how about to the theme of "Dominic the Donkey", as played on Radio 1 by Chris Moyles... Jigga-de-jig, EEE-ORE EEE-ORE, its Heskey the donkey, Jigga-de-jig, EEE-ORE EEE-ORE, the Aston Villa donkey, La la laaaa, la la la lala la la, La la laaaa, la la la lala la la, I reckon he'd take it in good spirit
  4. With the news of Spurs new 60,000 seater stadium being announced today, football stadia are in the spotlight again. Im led to believe that planning permission is already granted for some redevelopment of the North Stand along with the filling in of the corners around VP to bring the capacity up to around 51,000, granted at the time of the construction of the Trinity Rd Stand, and that this is going to be partly funded through the 2012 Olympics. Although were not even filling capacity now at 43k, crowds at VP are surely only going to grow steadily over years to come thanks to the way that the club is being run, both pitch side and on the corporate side. 51k seats at this moment in time sounds like an awful lot of seats to fill, but if you had asked if Man U 15 years ago if they would be needing a 70k+ seater stadium in little over a decade they would have thought you were 1 can short of a 6 pack. Do you think it would be feasable to turn away from any corner-filling and instead replace the North Stand with a large stand-alone structure that would still take capacity to the 50k+ needed for the Olympics, but also be an impressive piece of architecture that would really set VP from so many other run-of-the-mill stadiums that are around today? This would then leave the option open to expand further, by filling the corners in at a later date, should this be needed. Keep up the good work DD
  5. Hello again General I have a couple of questions regarding transfers -Firstly, do you think that AVFC's squeaky clean nature regarding transfers puts us at a disadvantage compared to some other Premiership clubs? (not that i would want it any other way!) It seems that tapping up and agent bungs are rife in the game, and when you see how easily some clubs/managers make signings it often begs the question was everything strictly legitimate. -Secondly, MON is obviously a great manager who is making great strides forward with this club, but that does not mean he is infallible in all areas. When we initially signed him as a manager i was driving to Glasgow on a daily basis and was told by every Celtic fan I met that he was a great man/manager, but i'd better not have a weak heart come the transfer window as everything seemed to be crammed in last minute. Would it not benefit us if we had a system where by Mr O'neil picked the players he wanted, then a dedicated team of buyers did the bidding/club negotiations, then the reigns handed back to MON for the players contract negotiations?
  6. how about:- Barry is a plonker Barry is a plonker La la la la La la la la Nice an simple, not too harsh on a man who has served us well for a decade, but very appropriate What a plonker rodney!!!
  7. Hello again Gen, can i ask is it you alone who makes these posts or do other key members of AVFC get to post under your name??? ' a wee bit' does not sound all that American to me ... but i have heard this phrase used by someone else quite a lot ... just cant quite put my finger on who :winkold:
  8. Having just found this site i would like to say how nice it is for a lowly Villa grunt to be able to go bang on the Generals door and ask for an explanation into any dealings concerning Aston Villa ... this alone makes me believe that our club is in safe hands. In recent times there has been a big drive in the marketing of Premier League clubs to the overseas market (which Villa have not been slow to jump on thanks to our current owners) in order to increase revenues and club stature. I would like to ask the General if a similar amount of time/effort/money was being invested into the local market? Each year a new generation of potential Villa fans are born into the greater Birmingham area, a large amount of these coming from households with no particular footballing loyalties. I was wondering how you were going about actively recruiting these kids in schools only a bus-ride away from VP instead of letting them drift over to the "Dark Side" or some team playing in a stadium they'll never be able to get to. The long term solution would surely be to expand the stadium to a much greater capacity, and start a program with schools in Birmingham and its outlying towns to fill empty seats on non capacity matches. You would be raising a new generation of villa fanatics who will grow up to be season ticket holders and buy shirts for their new families Short term loss - Long term gain
