Southgate's mate, media desperate to flog him to another club, we're on the up so. All just made up links, Maguire is the exact opposite to the kind of defender Emery wants. He'll go to West Ham or somewhere.
Everyone knows he isn't good enough for the elite clubs, so they start linking him to clubs the next tier down (which includes us).
I reckon he'll end up at West Ham, Everton, or Palace.

Purslow was absolutely hated at Liverpool and look what happened to the bin dippers since Purslow left!
Correct decision by the Villa owners.
Uh... He facilitated a sale to new owners then stepped down? He did what he was brought in to do?
Really bizarre to see all the Purslow hate for no reason here. You can't deny all the good work he's done for us during his time here off the pitch like the BMH upgrades, inner city youth academy, North stand redevelopment, women's team rejuvenation, etc.
Also, Smith was a brilliant appointment for us. Stop with this revisionist BS... He took us from midtable in the Championship, to midtable in the Prem ahead of schedule. Just like Smith, he's taken us as far as he can and it's time to move on from Purslow to someone more elite. When was the last time we had a CEO leave us in a better spot than when he arrived? Never?

Being offered a demotion generally isn't well received. I'm assuming it was CFO/CCO (possibly on a group level)...
Does anyone know it was a demotion or what the role was? No... More conspiracy theories.

Well, him being offered another role in the club because he's not needed in his current role is kinda being gotten rid of, no?
That's the exact opposite of being rid of...

I think it's more that you're really disappointed in a guy that most of us expect to be a sub
And given that role in the team he's a damn good one
If he is a sub, we're paying him A LOT of money in wages to sit on the bench... He was on £120k/week at Leicester and I'd imagine we're paying him more to bring him to Villa Park. Our 5 highest earners are now Kamara, Digne, Coutinho, Tielemans, and Diego Carlos, 4/5 players not in our starting 11.

Maybe your trust in the manager may make you question your rating of the player.
Well, we'll see. Hopefully this ends up being another Emery masterstroke.

That makes no sense.
If you are Incredibly disappointed with this signing, how can your faith in Emery not be shaken?
By contrast, I am very happy.
Welcome to the Villa family, Youri. Hope you flourish here.
I don't understand how my personal rating of a player and my trust/faith in Emery can't be mutually exclusive?

Why? Do you really think a 26 year old is past his best? Leicester were shambolic as a whole. You've seen what a bad manager did to our crop of players that finished 7th.
Or do you not rate the player from 2 years ago either?
Because I actually watched a lot of Leicester last season... He was horrific. Wasn't just a good player in a bad side (ala Idrissa Gana Gaye during his time at Villa) he didn't put forth any effort and didn't look fit most of the time. Same story at Monaco as well, looked great upon arriving, then all their fans were happy to be rid of him.
Anyway, doesn't matter what I think because obviously Emery rates him and has a plan for him going forward, and I have nothing but unwavering faith in Don Emery.

If he can stay fit (big ask) he'll be better for us than Tielemans. Unfortunately, I'm going to predict he'll be joining Coutinho in the treatment room most of next season.

Incredibly disappointed with this signing, but in Emery I trust.

Please be true! The kid is a livewire! Whenever I've seen Bilbao play this season he's been far and away their best player. Rapid winger with a lot of skill, but extremely raw. You'd think that after just a few months of Emery's coaching he could light the Premier League up.

There's another one we were linked to. I reckon he'll move the the Premier league in a year or two for a lot of money.

re the Tyler Adams links.
He's not a sexy name, but he is a very good player, would also be a good way in to the Amerika-ka market.
Depends on the price i guess, but he's defo an all action midfielder, quick and pretty technical, i would take him for a reasonable price tbh.
Worth noting that any remnants of form Leeds had, went completely down the drain when Adams got injured.
As an American, I want none of the Leeds yanks.
- Adams - Works hard, has a good character, but is a Championship level footballer.
- Aaronson - Works hard, has a lot of flash, but is only a good enough starter for a club in the bottom half of the table.
- McKennie - Lazy, has a terrible entourage of friends/family/hangers on who regularly trash his club/teammates on social media, more talent than the other two when things go well at the club.

Yeah, no brainer to pass on. He's 32 and not impressive. No idea why everyone is so obsessed with signing players from the relegated sides.

Monchi was a catastrophic failure at Roma. Words can't describe how horrific he was in his 2 years there.
That said, he was fantastic working with Emery at Sevilla.

Its more the fact we also didn't need a 4th centre back especially one who is not a guaranteed starter plus another 28 million centre back who isn't a guaranteed starter
What if we we got a good offer for Konsa this window?

We hardly used our 3rd choice centre back last season. Chambers made 2 starts all season
Because they were usually calamitous appearances by him. He's way too slow to play a high line and got caught out a lot.

Yes, please! He's a very different profile to all our other central defenders and is a better passer than all of them combined. Mings is one of the best CBs in Europe in Europe at winning aerial duels but he's not a great passer of the ball. Torres is one of the best in Europe at passing the ball but isn't great in the air. You'd imagine Emery would rotate them out depending on the opposition, or heaven forbid, figure out how to play them together, or play a back 3 of Torres, Mings, and Carlos. I 100% want this to happen for us.

Until Percy says it's happening, it's not happening. Can't wait for him to sign with someone else so we can go back to talking about unrealistic wonderkid signings.

Same... Words can't describe just how badly he crashed and burned at Roma, but this is Emery's call so I'm backing him to succeed here.
