You can see why other teams want him.

    They can do one.

    They can do one.

But if Chelsea put in 50m I wouldn't say no.

In the context of Israel vs Gaza, of course they’re in a strong position, ironically enough it’s David vs Goliath, though roles reversed.

In the wider context though I’m not so sure, if they put themselves into a situation where they lose the backing of the west and become isolated in the region then they could be in real trouble long term.

I think the Israeli rulers could all wear an SS uniform and shit on the US constitution and they would still not lose the backing of the west.

The likes of River Plate absolutely destroy the notion that bowls are all " soulless " 😲

    It's about the fans.

I can already see the guy in front of me at Villa Park telling me to sit down because he almost dropped his pie.

Yeah but the current rules are just that, the current rules. In 5 years it could be a different regime.

But one thing will always remain a constant- your stadium is your shop window and our shop window has one major let down and that's the current North Stand built in 1977.

    And the Witton Lane stand.

If you put the money back into the equation, you have to ask yourself: does he look like a £100m player? Does he exert the sort of influence that £100m should buy for any club? Does he get the media attention that comes to a £100m talisman? The answer to all three is no. And I think Jack knows it.

I think the question is 'which 100m player looks like a 100m player?'

Does Caicedo? Does Lukaku? Did Hazard? Enzo Fernandez? Kane?

Heck, Mudryk and Antony almost cost that.

You can probably argue that in this group, maybe Kane has achieved similar heights following the big fee move. But he won nothing (and will win nothing this season).

A fee is not always a good representation of value.

Bizarre people leaving on 80 mins, plenty did around me on Saturday. Particularly now given the matches go on to 100 mins. Basically saying I'm not going to watch the last 20 mins because I want to go to the pub or catch a train.

Or I need to because I have a family thing.

I'm sure out of 40k people some have good reasons for leaving early.

Wolves are playing some unheard of 18 year old up front. I'd whack at least a tenner on him to score. Likewise any attacker who's gone about 8 months without scoring

To be fair that's what they'd say if we played Duran.

And then he'd score a 30 yard bicycle kick.

That Atletico Miniero kit with the Betano sponsor a few pages back brought back memories of one of my old favourite away tops, so thought I'd chuck together a mock-up for it...

I love Adidas kits. But there is something west hammy about them, and Fulhamy about this one.

Maybe it's just looking for similarities.

But this kit is really good work!

Non-footballing income should absolutely be excluded from PSR rules. Hotels, concerts, and other sports hosting should not be allowed to be spent on football. By all means allow the parent companies to profit from it, but not the football club.

How is a hotel different than getting a pint in terms of "additional revenue"?

There is no clear lines between being able to watch NFL at VP or going to Villa Live to watch it on a big TV and spend money there.

If it's club selling stuff, it adds to the bottom line.

  10. In the Watkins vs Toney for England debate, I am surprised no one mentions it's an international shirt. You know, representing a nation. I am surprised no one pick up on the fact Toney is a gambling cheat.

  11. One thing that works well abroad but is not well utilised in England is the police leading the traffic out of stadiums and supporting the smooth flow of cars. That would speed everything up massively.

But again, I have never had too many issues myself. It's relatively easy. I never waited more than 20 mins in a car, I once spent 90 mins getting out of Etihad.

Germany changing to Nike in 2027

    Thats going to feel weird

It's simple really, Adidas picked up Villa so now have a bigger account to worry about ;)

  13. I was walking underneath Trinity before the Ajax game and I specifically looked at how it ended above the street.

With my next to no knowledge of construction, the Trinity stand ends pretty much on the far end of the street.

Would we really have to buy houses behind Witton to expand it? There is a green strip of land behind the street at Witton, it seems there is room to have a similar bridge over the street as we do at Trinity end?

127 years at Villa Park and I'm looking at the short term. Look, my argument is that financially it will make limited difference, and for that we're giving up 127 years of history. I've provided justification for that. You don't agree, fine. Make your case and provide justification that we're going to be financially much better off and I'll listen.

We are not giving up history by moving stadiums. We are making new history.

The history will stay the same - it's about an ambitious and bright future, regardless of if it's at VP or somewhere else.

Interest payments would be huge on that so that would need to be included.

Isn't that included in the costs?

Either way, we'd also have to include the value of the club increasing dramatically - if Villa is worth, say, 700m now, with the new stadium that might very well double.

How much would the new stadium cost? Assuming a billion like spurs we'd not see any profit at all from it's construction for 20 years. In that time our (current shitty) broadcast revenue would have earned the same value three times over. We're way behind in terms of broadcast revenue, and ancillaries. We upgrade those and that extra £50M would be like chump change. Or we could just sell our heritage for no significant gain.

Spurs is probably not a good comparison. Everton is a better one, theirs is around 500mil.

750 would be a safe estimate, that would mean a return in 10/15 years.

Or much quicker considering the ever increasing revenue/sponsorships.
