The vast majority of fans advocate rotating the team for league and FA cup games to keep the team fresh to play in the PL. Every single PL team does it, it's routine. If smaller trophies were so important,  this wouldn't happen. Everyone knows finishing as high as possible in the PL is the priority, and that's absolutely fine.

Yeah, because it's a squad game - just because you play Tim rather than Luiz against say Derby County doesn't mean it's not taken seriously.

You can't play the same 11, and even if you could, it's not a good idea.

Usually won by a bunch of clubs that tried to kill football, can see why people dont want to watch it

    I mean, sure. I don't disagree.

But there are levels to it. One person might feel watching Barca and PSG play is supporting the slow death of football. Others might say me typing it on a phone built in china is a crime against humanity.

I just watch the show of football; the players are not to blame. I don't get emotionally attached to it. I could watch CL football or put Netflix on. I like live sport and this is some good football.

That's as far as most people, including me, go.

The NEC would be absolutely perfect for a new stadium

The issues are it's not in Birmingham and we're not moving anyway :)

Honest question with no sarcasm intended.

Considering the expansion of Birmingham and its growth over the last 200 years, isn't it likely that Solihull becomes Birmingham within the next few decades?

Somewhere in the highlighted area. In between two stations (Aston & Witton). If the club and partners acquired all the land, it is around 80 acres to build a new Men's and Women's stadium plus other assets. Perhaps adding another train stop near the spaghetti junction in the right corner.

Jesus, are we building an airport?!

All that is needed is the houses behind Witton. With that, we could build a 100k seater.

We don't have to, and we won't, but that is enough space for expansion, hotels, bars, and whatever else they might desire.

To be fair I said it like 3 months ago.

Other than crazy pundits doing the media thing I didn't think anyone would seriously take Arsenal as possible champions.

    Naaah.

Trinity is good - hospitality is there, and concourses could be easily improved over the summer.

Same for Holte. It's a big stand with lots of space.

    North stand needs changing asap.

And it's logistically (with the help of the council) easy enough to plan for Witton.

We have space, we have 2 solid stands, VP could be made into a 55/60k premium seater. But it seems that's not the plan for now.

    I like that.

When we get a big streaming sponsor I want a Villa kit with 'married.... with children' on it.

Or if we struggle and fight at the bottom on the table 'The Walking Dead'.

  8. What annoys me is when you go out around lunchtime after a heavy boozer the night before and the pub only serves all day brunch rather than breakfast. I want hashbrowns and toast, not chips. How hard is it to just stick some hashbrowns on the grill?

'Rooms and Pud are merely accoutrements to a breakfast and not part of the core ingredients.

They are the essence, otherwise you are having an all day brunch at breakfast time.

Of course it would financially damage the club, I don’t see how you can’t see that.  Unless the owners fully fund the stadium build which, even though the owners are brilliant, they aren’t going to personally finance a new £1bn stadium thus the only other party will be Villa through whatever financial instrument.

Sorry, my bad - I was thinking about the new stand!

Yes, a new stadium is a different story.

We currently aren’t profitable and nowhere near self sustaining and those clubs have far greater revenues than us to support that development cost, that’s why we aren’t doing it.  Doing this would financially damage our club with no real start of return for at least five years until it’s built.  I just don’t see the viable business case at the moment.

It wouldn't financially damage the club.

It might financially damage the owners. But that in itself is unlikely, if Villa is worth 600-700m now, with the new stand, the new hospitality, new sponsors, I can see that value increasing to over 1bn rather quickly.

All of this talk about his punditry skills takes me back to the same question from the media and punditry thread -

Why the **** do people watch the pre game and post game bollocks?

Tune in at kick off, do something else at half time (I genuinely would rather watch 15 mins of adverts) switch if off at full time

It's madness that people complain but then still watch it

MOTD to a lesser extent I can understand but this I really can't, you don't have to do it to yourself

It's another symptom of TV dying, especially with so many good youtubers doing pre game shows or game commentary. You can pick who you like.

Very soon TV stations will realise paying Micah Richards god knows how much a year does not make much sense.

By the way, here is the handball that should have been a Bayern penalty:

I do commend the ref for not turning such an innocuous incident into a game-changing moment, but on the other hand ;) he's not allowed to just change the rules of the game if we're arguing about which, if either, team should have had a penalty last night.

Wan't there a decision involving Villa that was felt to be wrong and the ref did just change the rules, or vice versa?

    100% pen.

My sister-in-law has a kid at her nursery who's parents are trying to raise money for a trip to Peru, and somewhere along the line Grealish's mum has sent them a signed shirt from the treble winning season to auction off - which is well nice of her/him.

That's awesome, must be clean and never used too!
