That letter can be interpreted in many ways.

I'll be pissed off if the players are being arseholes and won't change.

I doubt it is the players, most won't be here next season.

Maybe not but for me I would really want someone who genuines cares for the club and is motivated by the fact it is Aston Villa and buying into the club,  not just someone after a paycheck.  I think the club has lost a lot of connection with the fan base and is distant and I would like that restored.  I think having that feeling for the club right now is important.

The obvious way to restore the connection between fans and club is success on the pitch and that is all that will ultimately be cared about (the appointment alone would begin this). I also see Moyes as a pretty genuine guy who certainly isn't afraid of a challenge. He may be motivated by his own interests (restoring his reputation/challenge) but so would 99% of other managers, that's the way it is.

If the best man for the job wants it, we should make our best possible efforts to get him.

  3. The possibility of Moyes being our manager has given me my first sense of optimism for the club since this debacle of a season. For me, he is way ahead of any of the managers we have been linked with; Rowett unproven, Pearson erratic and Bruce uninspiring.

If it is true and Moyes is interested, I'd be really annoyed if we don't pull out the stops to get him, as I always felt it would be the other way round and Moyes wouldn't want to come here. We need stability and Moyes is a manager I could see staying for more than 2 seasons. We need experience and Moyes has it at different levels, with big clubs whom have high expectations. We need discipline and he has always had that sense of authority (scary eyes). We need enthusiasm and I think the appointment would really shock fans if it happened, that we could attract someone of that level in our current state.

The thought of a Bruce or Pearson is depressing, it screams no ambition that we have become accustomed too.

  4. Veretout looked far better in tighter areas than Westwood does (go on, post that Mick McCarthy gif). He also carries the ball far more, committing people and creating space. I don't hate Westwood but I do find him very frustration, he is too eager to take the easy option and his passing is quite poor under pressure.

Massive props to the three in midfield today, hope it continues.

  5. I think eventually that Gil and Grealish could work well in the same team but at the moment, the latter needs dropping and being replaced by Gil. Just give him the free role, get him on the ball as much as possible and he will create more than anyone.

  6. You could put your house on us going down if we don't buy at least 3 decent players in January. We need a new centre back back and striker for starters.

You could put your house on it now. The turn around needed to get to the kind of level you'll usually need to survive come May is near unprecedented. You're looking at asking a team so far showing itself to be particularly bad relegation fodder to turn into the standard usually vying for the Europa League places on a points per game basis, more or less.

    Ain't happening. We're done.

Unless Remi Garde is a miracle worker, and I say that as someone who rates him.

The team simply isn't good enough and we've wasted too many points already.

It's good that you are so sure. Maybe don't go quite as far as your house but you could put some decent money on it and at least make a few quid.

  7. Always been impressed by his work rate, glad he is showing some good ability too. Really happy both Gil and himself impressed with the new manager watching. It's hard to know where to play him as he did look very good on the left but I think we are so short up top that I'd opt for him there.

I think he'll end up our top scorer this season (which probably won't be too challenging).

has to start games from now on, there are little signs that he is coming to terms with the English game and I for one would stick with him now and wait for him to come out of the other side. Yes it will probably be hard for a while to come, but there's no point in not playing him now, otherwise we'll be holding back his promise

I certainly agree that he needs to be starting, relieved he is starting to come good.

  8. I still believe it won't take a miracle for us to start climbing up the table. We have lost every game bar two by a 1 goal margin and that is while playing unbelievably bad tactically. Most are in agreement that we haven't consistently played our best players, we really could be a very different team than the one playing in the last few games, both in terms of personnel and performance.

  10. I can take heart from how we finished that game.

I'm so pleased that Gil and Ayew had such a positive impression on the game that Garde could see. Gil is way ahead of Grealish at the moment.

I really hope he will also put the end to the shambles that is Gabby.

We are so lucky to only be 4 points from safety and we will improve. Good luck Garde.

  11. Random question. Would people prefer Lambert back with a £100m transfer kitty or Moyes with a £20m one?

    Lambert and £100m.

Actually, Ellis and Lambert for £200m.

Wait, It gets better, Ellis, Lambert and N'Zogbia signs a new 4 year contract for all the millions.

  12. French coaches don't have good records in this league. How about Bielsa? How about Poyet? We need our Roberto Martinez.

Yeah good call, Poyet has a great record in the PL.

What am I missing here? Poyet is South American, ain't he?

Electro states that French managers have a bad record in the Premier League so offers some non French alternatives.

Trent sarcastically but correctly states that although Poyet is not French, he is abysmal and poos in dressing rooms.

  13. Garde is not the man that can save us from relegation. People are excited because he is a foreign manager that sounds exciting. Because he is a good french Ligue 1 manager does not necessarily make him a right fit for the club. What players would he bring in January? we need Premier League Experience. Our problem is that we are an easy team to beat because the squad are mentally weak, we need a manager that can make us a difficult team to play against, and give us that ruthlessness home and away.

David Moyes is the man to that, we need to get the basics done and start getting clean sheets, we can score goals but we cannot defend. I hope that this pure speculation and that David Moyes is being lined up as our new manager.

Even if we have enquired about Moyles, what makes you think he would come?

He's not enjoying Radio X that much.

I really had hoped I edited that before anyone saw....

  15. I just don't see why we wouldn't go for Moyes. He's available and a perfect fit. This guy is an unknown entity, we are in deep shit and need someone who we know can get us out and fast. This isn't the time for a gamble in my opinion.

But he isn't available and said he wants to stay at Real Sociedad.
