  1.

'The Ego' posts on here sometimes but it's not his information he's just passing it on, it's another of the Mods on there who goes by the name PDC.

Oh, so it isn't Morgan Freeman this time?

Nope, I'm pretty sure he doesn't post anymore. It is PDC's 'source' and two other mods are confident too. Take that with a Winchester sized pinch of salt.

  2. I honestly didn't feel that this transfer would get done, especially with the multiple ownership etc, but I am absolutely delighted that it did. Keep Vlaar and I'm far more optimistic for us doing well next season, well done Lambert.

  3. I certainly lost faith in Lambert last season due to the consistent level of poor performances and football that I believed at times was up there with the worst I've ever season, wanting him to go. I don't believe Lambert is tactically the man to take us forward as a club.

However, after this summer when at times things looked rather hopeless, I certainly appreciated him staying, as if he'd left I can't fathom to think who we would have replaced him with. I really hope he can turn it around here and that we can surprise a few people this season but ultimately, when we get taken over, a new manager should take the reigns.

  4. The defensive midfielder nicknamed The Rock is heading to Villa Park after the club agreed a £1.5million fee with Spanish outfit Elche

Colombian midfielder Carlos Sanchez will fly in to join Aston Villa before the start of the season.

Sanchez’s agent Diego Merino is in Birmingham to thrash out a deal worth £1.5million after Villa beat off competition from Everton and QPR.

Defensive midfielder Sanchez, 28 – nicknamed The Rock – has agreed a three year contract at Villa Park.

Manager Paul Lambert has been on the lookout for a defensive midfielder all summer but with wantaway owner Randy Lerner struggling to find a buyer for the club, the Scotsman was priced out of a move for Swansea's Korean international Ki Sung-Yeung.

Sanchez will be only the second significant cash buy at Villa Park this summer following the arrival of former Liverpool loanee Aly Cissokho from Valencia in a £2million deal last week.

They join Bosman signings Joe Cole and Philipe Senderos, while Kieran Richardson

  5. I'd feel sick if he went to somewhere like QPR instead but all we can do is wait for some positive news tomorrow. The Sun is really naff in fairness, do they have a Villa specific reporter there?

  6. Some more information here.

In his first press conference, ‘La Roca’ addressed the rumours of his departure and admits that there have been offers and he isn’t forcing through any kind of transfer.

“Clearly there are offers.  As a footballer, it’s not for me to talk about, I just play and train.  In the end, we’ll make the best decision for the club and Carlos Sanchez.

“The offers? it’d be a lack of respect to my team and it’s fans to say who.  I’m happy to stay here and continue with Elche, because here I’ve felt, from the very first day, their affection.

“Forcing a transfer to QPR? Those reports are false.  I have a contract with Elche and nothing that has been said has been confirmed.

“The rest is just rumours because I have nothing concrete on the table.  There things coming from all sides.  If I leave, it’ll be for the better.  That’s the idea, but I’d be incredibly sad to leave this place where they’ve made me feel content and happy.”

This article was Wednesday 6th however.

  7. A tough tackling defensive midfielder would certainly make me more optimistic about our chances this season. Last season, Westwood had to come very deep to receive the ball off the two centre backs, playing as a poor man's Xabi Alonso. I think with Vlaar and Okore being so comfortable on the ball, this doesn't need to happen, so I'd like to see Westwood pushed further up.

  8. If Jack did start against Stoke (which I extremely doubt) I'd play him behind the striker. Away from home we'll just be defending for the majority of the game. I don't see the point is persisting with Weimann who offers so little.

  9. I'm concerned that Jack is our best player.

So am I, it's great having such an exciting prospect but Jack is starting to really show some of the 'first teamers' up.
