Would love to see Mitrovic. Was unplayable at times last season. Just not sure he has the right character.

Depends how much Fulham ask for him, could see them asking 25-30m which is to much imo. Around 20m would be good business.

I agree he shouldn't start at CB - I've never said otherwise.

However, Steve Bruce does not kick the football for the players.  He isn't responsible for James Chester scoring and he isn't responsible for a player making a massive **** up.  Not sure why this is so difficult to understand.

If a player has made the same mistakes before in the same position (against Sheffield United) then yes the blame lies at Bruce 100%.

    How about we don't.

    - The same Benteke who has not scored a goal all season?

    - 1. Cause he is no longer the player we signed sadly, nor will he ever be like that again. He is finished.

    - 2. And on the combined reasons above he would not be worth any fee Palace would ask for him.

There is better strikers out there and we want one where we don't piss up any precious funds on just any total arse donkey.

So because he didn't score in the first 6 games he's finished? Last season he bagged 17 goals so I think your evaluation of him is extremely harsh.

I agree with the fee part though, Palace would want to recoup at least the transfer fee they paid Liverpool which is beyond our means in this league.

If we go up and they go down he might be an good option to consider.

Hatred of an individual? If by that you mean i hate seeing my club (which happens to have one of the best squads in the league) produce gutless performances week in week out, than yes. I guess you're right.

Gutless performances week in and week out? Do you even watch the games?

The stats-based Sky Sports Predictor is tipping Leeds for Championship glory and for Aston Villa to finish 17th.

Sky and BBC really don't like us do they? We don't care! B)

Strange how Skybet has us at a 54.5% chance of making the top 6. Not even they listen to this drivel. Its probably for the best as if they offered me 7/1 for villa to finish in the top 6 I'd have no choice but to place my life savings on it for Villa to let me down.

But would you want it totally predictable , where a 4-0 win was a foregone conclusion?

its tempting to say yes.....and perhaps the popular first reaction.

but after a while that too would be boring.....we have to give a bit of credit to the opposition in all these things.

As distressing as that sounds, I think I would cope.

The point is you're complaining as a Championship team we are struggling to beat a team who you feel are a division one team, yet when we were a Premier League team we lost to actual Div 1 teams. Football isn't always won by who looks best on paper.

    You forgot about confidence.

I thought so too, and agreed with that assessment, not sure I understand why you are "clarifying" it.

You said "I don't see Bruce as anything like MON", what else was he referring to in similarities of each other?

    Mr C. Field

i like thoughtful posts even if I don't agree with all of it.

You had me with at least 97% agreement until you hit Xia and Bruce.  I don't see Bruce as anything like MON.   MON had a system and he found the players to make it work.   Bruce is just finding good individual talents.  Also, it remains to be seen if Xia is over committing funds.  We still don't know his reserve.

I think when he said MON was short term he was referring to giving players huge wages over numerous years and not thinking of the club long term. There was so many poor players in the squad on huge wages when MON left.

I don't think it was the fear of losing today.... we created 22 chances and had the better of possession, certainly in the first half we bossed it. 9 shots on target to 1 and they won one bloody nil.

We just yet again did not take our chances. Although in fairness we did this at home to Preston and still threw away a 2 goal lead.

Right had enough Villa misery for one day. I need a few days off to get miserable for Tuesday. UTV.

Make sure your back for Tuesday, can't have a full week off from misery.

  11. Any players who come in don't seem to integrate into the club at all. Answer these questions

What does it mean to play for Aston Villa?

Which players at the club are Villa men and create an identity for the club?

I feel we have been drained as a club throughout the poisonous Lerner era. We are now seen as that pathetic team that got relegated without a fight when Leicester won the league. Who represents the club? Agbonlahor? He shit all over us last season and its detrimental to keep him around the place. We are the polar opposite of Southampton, they can sign managers and players and they always seem to step up and perform to a high standard.

Wonderful. We're going to sack 2 managers in one season for the second season running, aren't we?

IF he attempted to go and attack teams when were playing at HOME and we lose say 2-3 then at least we can say he had a go but this is truly awful.

A mate of mine wants me and the missus to come to a game soon...no way am I paying £60 plus grub and booze to watch this shower of turds

IKR, every game I decided not to go to I've been relieved after watching it afterwards on TV.

  14. Ok assuming he sticks to the 3-5-2, one big flaw I saw from last game is what happens if one of our center backs gets injured, we didn't have one on the bench. Then he would have to switch formation if that happens. Seems a fragile formation if that's the case. Yes I know we have Richards somewhere but I rather not have him anywhere near the squad.

Don't understand this at all. What difference does squad value make?

Chelsea have one of the most expensively assembled squads on the planet....and they play 3 at the back!

It depends how you play the system.

It depends how capable the wing backs are, it just seemed Bree didn't get forward much and Bjarnason I had no idea why he was wing back (seemed one of the main reasons we got pinned back in our half).

Also would like to add I would love to see Amavi at LWB he could be a revelation in that position.

If Bruce has lost the dressing room IMO it will be because he has been undermined.

Maybe Calderwood wasn't his choice - and the Gollini long term loan seems very odd to me......

Im probably overthinking but I wonder if he actually wanted to sell Gollini - but was told to do a long term loan - and could only bring in loan keeper ?

Why would he be told to loan out Gollini? Seems more likely Gollini was homesick.
