just listened to the Villa View transfer update.
They seem to be implying the Jota deal will likely happen, the Mings, Hause & El Ghazi transfers are pretty much nailed on, and the Justin transfer is now much less likely as he seems to be leaning towards joining Stoke. (guaranteed 1stmaybe? - maybe we havent offered that now we are in the Prem?)
Yeah looks like it will be to much of a step up from league one to the premier league for Justin.

I don’t think anyone wants to sign an alternative just because they’re Spanish. But of course you know that. It’s more to do with getting better players for the large outlay.
Didn’t Shaqiri go for about £15m last year? Shaqiri or Lolley?
(Odd example, I know, as Shaqiri can be headless at times, but the point is a Swiss international, proven Prem player that has reached the Champions League Final, or a Villa fan that barely made his mark in the Prem when he was with Huddersfield, but has done well in the Championship?)
Lolly is definitely more of a punt, i think he would do decent but is that what were looking for? It all depends on the ambitions of the owners.

Do you think he’s out of our league then?
I doubt spurs would go for him, so we are essentially competing with West Ham and Wolves which is where we should be aiming imo. Maybe a bit soon to aim that high, but hes still fairly young and would fit into the mould of what the club is trying to acheive.

Never heard of him before but he looks class, according to wiki (sigh), Inter Milan have a £30m option to buy him at the end of the season
From what i have read Monaco need to get him off their books. I doubt Inter are going to be purchasing him since a new manager is coming in and they seem to be pursuing Lukaku. His buyout is actually €30m so i reckon a bid of £20m (or even less) would be reasonable considering hes not had a great season at Inter. Pochettino, Nuno and Pellegrini seem to be admirers of him.

Overrated and a bad egg AFAIK.
Why whats he supposed to have done?

If we really want to add some quality and show a statement of intent we should move for Keita Balde asap. Hes open to a move to the premier league, what you guys think?

I'd pay £30m for Tuanzebe if he was available. If he is available it shouldn't take that much mind, but I rate him that highly.
I'm sure he would be flattered but doubt your his type.

Well he wasn't exactly tearing up league 2 this year.

Why do you think this? I think all 3 have a good chance of being regulars in our first team
They are more "loan them out and see what they can do" type of players. The premier league is going to be tough enough without having to rely on unproven talent.

I would like to see the following team next season:
Steer/Kalinic
Elmo/Guilbert Cahill/Chester Mings/Elphick Taylor/Hause
New DCM/Lansbury/Jedinak
McGinn/Hourihane Grealish/O'Hare
Lolley/Green El Ghazi/New LW
New CF/Kodjia/Davis
I really wouldn't like to see them as the only other options we have.

Deeney 13 goals 7 assists first season and 10 goals 4 assists second season in the Premier league, still a big part of Watfords side. He's a knobhead but he's a good player. Grey had a good first season for Burnley then got a move.
He is also capable of having an atrocious season. His peak isn't that high, i'm just not a fan of his style and seems a limited player. He gets the job done i guess but hes nothing special.

Callum Wilson, Troy deeney, Andre grey not done too bad I'm pretty sure they all come up with their clubs, it's such a hard league though you can see why it doesn't work out for a lot of players!
Would only rate Wilson out of those 3. Wouldn't like to rely on the other 2 to stay up.

I find it really odd that Tammy thinks he can lead the Chelsea frontline next season. Can't see Sarri taking a liking to that attitude, nevermind the fact his finishing isn't good enough for their level (yet anyway).

That is the problem, people keep saying we shouldnt do a fulham but it's going to cost 100mil to get a competitive squad. Only difference is some of the loan players will fit straight back in.

I guarantee we wont be signing any of the over the hill mercenaries like Fer. Purslow and Smith interview confirms it, we will have a policy for our signings and any older players we sign will be value for money and also benefit the team.
Yeah i just thought mainly as decent cover for very little money. This is assuming Whelen and Jedinek won't be at the club next season. I would like to see our funds concentrated on a quality striker and 2 quality central defenders, those 3 alone could cost us around £60m.
-
Would Leroy Fer be a good squad player for us? Not seen him play for a while but on a free can't be much of a risk.

Atalanta are in the Champions League now I think?
So Gollini is going to be playing in the champions league, that is surreal.

Yeah, not sure Atalanta will want to let him go at this point.
Says Sampdoria own him but Atalanta has an option to buy. Wonder how much that is.

I know what you mean, but the proven route adds mega-bucks to the contract and there is no guarantee of them being professional or motivated enough to score the goals they were bought for. It's a gamble either way, but when a big contract goes wrong compared to a player for less who has resale value, I think the latter is the sensible option - and if it goes right it's hugely valuable. I trust our recruitment team to get this right.
I think a player like Rondon wouldn't cost mega bucks, he was a one man army upfront for Newcastle last season. Him and a younger striker with bags of potential would be great additions to the squad.

Have to say IMHO it is time to completely rule out any player at the end of their career regardless of what they might offer us in the short term. There just isn't any future in it. I'd rather we go for potential and act as a vehicle for the best young talent to enter the premier league. If players like McGinn can't get a game in the prem then there is a serious gap in the market for quality that is being overlooked.
I agree, but we are talking about strikers, ones that are proven to score goals in the premier league. I really think we need one of those in the squad.

Mine was the January window where we were linked with Luis Suarez for £12m, but ended up with Emile Heskey.
I will never forget a friend texting me that villa had signed Heskey, followed by 'HAHAHAHA'.

Undecided on Lansbury, think he would make a decent squad player but would sell/loan if the opportunity presents itself.
