He set us up well today and we really took the game to Swansea.  We were playing some really neat and tidy stuff but were let down by individual mistakes and got done in the latter part of the second half as we tried to push on for the equaliser.  I was pleased by the performance for the first 60 or so minutes.  If we play like that vs Hull we should hopefully get the win.

Push for the equaliser? I don't think vorm had a shot to save.

I feel sorry for him in a strange way. He hasn't had the resources to do the job properly and I genuinely believe that based on the squad and what he's had to spend 15th place is about right. What I can see is a squad packed with championship players rapidly finding their level and Lambert doesn't seem to have it within him to make any difference to that.

In terms of blame I reckon he's 33% responsible for this mess, the majority of the blame lies with Lerner and the board....

A clean sweep is needed next season assuming we stay up. If there is not significant investment into the starting XI in the summer we will go down next season no questions asked.

I agree if Lambert and Lerner stay for next season we are relegated. I will put money on it because those two combined are not interested in a football club playing decent football. Lambert and his damn hoof ball nearly got us relegated last season if it wasn't for Benteke we would probably be md championship by now.

As for this season without Benteke and Kozak Lambert has no plan B. He has absolutely no idea what to do and you can see it, every time its just panic substitutions when the game is already over. 

I have watched villa since the mid 90's and there was always something about an aston villa side that kept me optimistic (graham taylor and mccleish aside) but this past couple of seasons i actually feel sad watching this hapless excuse for a side. /vent over.

The question is can you play decent football on the finances available. If we don't get a takeover I reckon we would need a manager with good connections to up and coming players and combine that with some top loan signings and add a couple of experienced heads to that.

Sounds a bit like Everton but a continental manager is the only way we can get good players within our budget.

I am just preying for a takeover as finding solutions to this mess is depressing.

Can't believe he chooses such a defensive formation and then sticks Westwood in front the 3 centre backs. All he did was watch the ball get passed around him, not enough awareness of what's going around him to play as a defensive midfielder in this division.

For consistent good performances you need a squad of players who can play well consistently. We don't, because the owner has pulled the plug on spending. Simple as.

 

We're lucky to have Lambert (our best player in the Everton game was an 800K find of his), and we're luchky he hasn't quit in disgust.

Because of the terrible formation Lambert played today. The players are capable of a lot more than what was offered today.

We were practically playing with 10 men with this guy on the field, coupled with the defensive formation no wonder we only had 1 shot on target.

I just don't understand this guy, he doesn't fear Liverpool and we take the game to them but he fears Everton and drops to a park the bus formation. I know were missing Gabby but to change the formation to such a negative approach because 1 player is missing is madness.

Could be so much worse, could be signing Lee Cattermole for 5mil.

 

The question is where should we be, our average attendance is mid table so anything above that is punching above our weight. On the other hand spurs have around the same attendance yet keep pushing for CL football every year.

Just saw hes on around £75k a week wages, which means realistically only the moneybag clubs could potentially sign him. Maybe if Arsenal fail with Draxler they might go for Holtby if spurs are willing to sell to them. Seriously doubt it though.

Spurs sign Holtby for 1.25mil he players 23 games for them and now they want £8-10mil for him. Gotta love old spurs.
