The CL has made their season, Drat I see your point, its been a great season for them, but this is due to the CL In terms of the league, if we'd gotten our act together in the transfer window and put the effort in, we could have been fighting for 5th with Liverpool, they've been within our reach which they really shouldn't be. *agrees to disagree*

This all stems from someone saying Liverpool were there for the taking. Their Champions League form is irrelevant in terms of whether we should have caught them up or not.

I'd say they've had a poor season. They've been poor in the league especially away from home and might not even get top 5. A Champs League run has nothing to do with JPA saying that Liverpool are reachable in the league. Even if they win it, they've had a bad league season which is all that concerns Villa. Bollox ED, Liverpool haven't had a poor season at all. They also played in a cup final and dont forget they are still very much in the running for a champs league place through their league position. I'm sure they just lost to Palace a couple of weeks ago, even Blues did the double over them! *cough*

Not even that, Robben has apparently fallen out with Mourinhio, imagine if we used ALL our summer spending on him, I reckon the guy is so good, he alone could get us into the top 4.

I hope Palace don't stay up because if they do it will be because of penalties. Norwich are a "nice club" and I'd like to see them stay up whilst West Brom pissed me off scoring with the last kick of the game so I hope they go down. With regards Saints, I hope they go down so we can re-sign Crouch.

However, neither are playing all that badly, in fact both often play very well (under O-Leary). Perhaps given how bad the team as a whole played under Taylor II their good performances stood out that much more? I had a season ticket that year and the 02/03 GB was awesome. I have never seen such a high quality whole season from a single player. Mellberg was also a rock, but I take Rev's point on that one.

You could argue that DOL has made some players worse in his time here. We all know how bad GT was but we had 2 stars that season in Barry and Mellberg, and they haven't really got back anywhere near that.
