Villa accepted they could track his progress elsewhere but included a first option and a buy-back clause. It can be revealed that Villa have a matching clause for Philogene, meaning they have to be notified of any offer Hull receive this summer. At this stage, early interest has been shown from the Premier League and clubs abroad.
Not sure what that means exactly but would appear we do in fact have some sort of buyback
This was discussed (guessed at...) at length before!
To me it means that if hull accept an offer from say crystal palace for £12m then we have the option to match it and if we do he would automatically be a villa player
I'm not 100% sure how an offer and formal acceptance works in football but in theory without that clause hull would have no obligation to tell us they'd accepted the bid, hull would have no obligation to accept it and he would have no obligation to sign

De Ligt leaving Bayern. Surely he's United bound to link up with his former manager, they're also in desperate need of some centre backs.
Strange one isn't he, was a huge potential, everyone wanted him, can remember some eye watering numbers attached to him going to Barca but then he went to juve and was ok, went to Bayern and was ok, he's 24 years old and probably about to break €200m in transfers...yet at the same time he feels like a perfect utd signing, huge name, huge figures but he's not really a top top tier player hence why he keeps getting moved on, there's just something about him where he's a 7/10 player rather than a proper elite one
He'll obviously walk straight in to the team and be their best CB and make them better but he doesn't make them good enough to challenge for the league
Bayern looking to replace him with Ito and Tah

I don't know why that's such a crazy figure given all the work that's being done. £20m would be cheap if you ask me
£20m is a school or leisure centre, it is a good chunk of change
But it's impossible to judge for 2 main reasons, firstly it's a refurb so we'll never know how much of that cost is simply because when you strip out the existing soft finishes it turns out that there's some very ropey stuff back there (which lets face it there almost definitely will be) and because in theory these are corporate areas so the quality of finishing should be high, if they've specified light fittings that are £10k each of course you'll burn through some serious money

Move to Other Football. Clearly the prospect of working with the ex-Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca over King Unai was simply too appealing for a 20 year old at the beginning of his career to turn down. Can't think of any other reason.
Pathetic.
Other than Chelsea being the biggest and most successful English team for his age group...
And London obviously

What does straight cash do for us? What benefit does it give us on the football pitch?
We are getting a cash value for Luiz and then buying two players with it. Two players we want from Juve.
Some ignorant Villa fans who love to complain are saying we are being forced to take players we don't want. It's such a laughable idea.
Your point 2. in your post is the one most accurate. Emery wants these two players if the price is right for us.
why is that a laughable idea?
why is it not plausible that Juve don't have the cash to make a straight up purchase, that's very plausible
is it ignorant or naïve just to simply think that monchi and unai are simply footballing geniuses and we are getting 2 players that we want rather than we are getting 2 players as a compromise to make a deal that has to happen happen, agree @Zatman juve do have other players, no doubt a big part of this negotiation involved discussions on other players, no doubt we asked for someone better and they offered someone worse
I'm not going to blindly believe that this is something we want just because of emery, its ignorant to believe that we picked up the phone to juve and said "we want mckennie and IJ" and they replied "yeah thats great cos we want luiz" to which we said "thats brilliant cos we're looking to cash in on him"
we're playing the best hand available to us, doesn't mean we're holding aces

This is the problem for you and Villa fans who think this way. It's just completely false narrative that we are being forced to take players we don't want from Juve.
Are we being Forced to take Gallagher or Chelsea being forced to take Duran if they move this window too?
The deal for Dougie and McKennie isn't one that popped up, it's clear the two clubs have been tracking both players. We've been tracking McKennie for years.
Illing Junior and McKennie are players on our clubs list for positions we want to fill. Monchi has 3 or 4 per position as he has said before in his series of talks on his process. Without doubt those players are in our lists.
So when it comes to doing the deal, we are saving ourselves negotiating with 2 others clubs to get two other players if we wanted just cash from Juve.
I think this moving early in window is savvy from us. If we have landed in 4 players by end of June we're on the way to getting a good preseason with them.
We're being giving lemons and making lemonade
If we didn't have a PSR problem we wouldnt be selling luiz
If juve had £60m we wouldn't be getting those 2 players

What have i missed on Moreno, a lot convinced both him and Digne going all of a sudden but where's that come from?
Or is it just a hypothetical that's become pseudo fact?
Dipped out of his wedding for 5 minutes to tell the Spanish media he wanted to move back to Spain

Wonder if we will go for Oscar Gloukh or Georgiy Sudakov who we’ve been click bait linked with previously … Think any big money transfers will be after the Euros.
Read a thing on sudakov this morning saying they've already rejected £35m from Napoli, want over £40m

Wonder if the swap element of this deal is to help screw Man City out of as much of the rumoured 20% sell on as possible for PSR.
I assumed the "swap" element of his deal won't actually be a swap
They will give us £60m and we will give them £25m for McKennie and £20m for IJ or some different numbers
That's how the PSR box gets ticked for both clubs

Looks like his agent used us in a play for a new contract

Unai clearly rates him. He wouldn’t be part of the discussion otherwise.
he has to be part of the conversation because Juve don't have £60m

if we sold luiz to arsenal for £60m would we then go and buy mckennie with the money?
would we ****
-
his biggest problem is that we're only getting him because Juve don't have £60m to buy Luiz
he's a compromise to tick a box

The same applies to United. If they'd sacked Ten Hag and rid the club off its toxic players and staff, they've got the money to try and get it right. Thankfully they stuck with him and I'm not convinced he's the answer to their problems.
yeah that's the other thing, the notion that everything is ok and everyone will get a chance and its fair because man utd and chelsea have bad owners and spend money on shit, or that spurs don't spend their money
-
i got as far as him suggesting that good players don't want to sit on benches which simply isn't true followed by everything will be fine once pep leaves city which obviously makes everything ok, just ride it out for another 5 or 6 years

We're currently in that exact situation with Man City. The rules didn't prevent them from getting there.
I'd be happy enough with a soft salary cap or similar, but the current system sucks and stops the status quo from being challenged.
Said last week they need to scrap FFP and then introduce a lot of new rules that target everything that's wrong with the game and squad building, squad salary cap, loan caps, harsher rules on squad registration, maybe even go as far as to say that players that aren't registered are cut American sports style
Let Chelsea spend £500m every summer but they can only pay £5m per week in wages across the squad, they can't loan any of them that are over 21 and anyone not registered in the 25 man squad is automatically given a free transfer with Chelsea picking up the tab for lost wages, all of that must also be supported by bonds so that if boely walks away he's still liable for the cost rather than the club
There are other control mechanisms they can use, it doesn't have to be FFP or nothing

What’s stopping two teams selling each other a player for the same price, and then amortising the fees? Another way around PSR?
You mean like juve and Barca with Arthur and Pjanic?
Almost certain morata has had about 4 of those transfers by now too

There’s no way we’re bringing a player here that we don’t want.
Unfortunately, we’re probably going to have to accept that Emery wants McKennie
Want or settled for because our hands are tied?
Are we really saying that if PSR wasn't a thing this deal would be happening?
If we weren't selling luiz to juve would we be buying McKennie? Personally, absolutely not a **** chance

The problem is the second part of the equation, who do they bring in? They don’t trust themselves to get a better manager.
I'd say at a guess they've spent 2 weeks quietly putting the feelers out, probably spoke to say Zidanes team, got knocked back as no one wanted it and then declared they were standing by him
Shambles

That's not true. There is only so far any club can go and the likes of man city are pretty much at that ceiling. With the right investment other clubs would be able to catch them.
That's an absolute myth
We're not catching them no matter what investments we make, we're not catching the revenues of chelsea, utd or Liverpool either, the gap is absolutely **** huge and every time villa makes an investment or do something well all that will happen is these big clubs will see it as a market readjustment and increase their own revenues further, Newcastle get themselves a sleeve sponsor jumping from £1.5m to £7m Liverpool go get themselves a new deal that jumps from £10m to £25m - their sleeve sponsor is more than our main shirt sponsor, there's no good investment that will change that
The only thing that keeps the PL going is that various top clubs are ran by clowns who waste their advantage over everyone else

Chelsea asking for £30m for broja and £50m for Gallagher
He's got to be worth north of £40m
Madness that Chelsea are also up against PSR and yet still have £100m to spend on teenagers

Trust the data and scouting department rather than most opinions on here - so if they want him then cool sign him up
If it was just a normal buy then maybe
As it is it's not, he's a bi product of us having to sell Luiz, you'd do well to convince me that the driver of this deal is that we want McKennie, we don't we want the money for PSR, we're only getting McKennie because juve can't afford the £60m for luiz
You're not going to convince me that our scouts rate McKennie higher than luiz
This is a needs must transfer, nothing more than that
