7m bid from Lecister for N'Zonzi...that's us already priced out then?

I'd say if we wanted him we could match that.

We did have £8m aside for Cleverley.

You mean it's saved for a Wainy day?

I like the sound of that, do I get £8m?

Nah, that's Randy's but he'll give you Tonev and Helenius  :)

  3. Tom Fox has impressed me with everything he has said since arriving at the club.  Not just with what he has said, but his judgement in when to say it and how much to say.  In all of his actions so far he has come across as a very capable and professional CEO.  Never mind that he was seen as quite the coup when we managed to get him from Arsenal.  He has brought in our first ever CFO and he is also the man behind bringing in Sherwood.

I remember someone on here saying a while back that it just feels like we're being run by an actual grown-up at the moment, and I suppose that's another way of putting it all.  I just get the feeling we're in very safe hands under Fox and I suppose it manifests in the fact that he's probably the member of the non-playing staff that I'd be most worried about losing under new ownership.

I think he's probably destined for bigger things, but then Villa fans always say that when they've got a good'un on-board.

Even when you hear him putting it up to the FA/Premier League about homegrown players quotas and its effects on academies you get (well, I get...) a sense of pride that your club has someone articulate, intelligent and confident enough at the top to be able to talk about the issue in a way that doesn't toe the line and makes us perhaps more relevant than we might be seen to be by the usual hierarchy.  In that sense he elevates us within the game and that's very valuable too.  Having a voice that is influential and respected along the corridors of power.

    False narrative?

  4. Does Gil track back? Does Gil know the importance of a relegation run in and what is expected? Is Gil fully settled in the league?

    1. Yes, he does have a good work rate.

    2. He's foreign, he's not a fool. Of course he knows the importance of a relegation battle. He played a huge part in keeping Elche up in La Liga in the previous campaign.

    3. Yes, he's clearly ready for the PL. He played extremely well vs the league's top teams (Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool). Despite the fact that we lost those games, he was comfortably most Villa fans' MOTM in all of those games, as well as against "Bournemouth Reserves".

    are you NHS or private?

    Black market :-)

    Weimann to Derby, I'm shocked.

Having read a lot of your posts on here I struggle to see what you add, I'll keep reading though and hope they improve, doubt it though! It's as if you're in the know when in fact you just post what is already being reported in the media.

Dunno, Richard called it ages before it was in the media to be fair.

    He really didn't!

  7. In my opinion, none of kinsella, sellars or calder will make it here but they will have good careers in the game but that's only my opinion

IMO Grealish is our best homegrown hope for the foreseeable. After that, Robinson, Toner, Green, Hepburn-Murphy, and Suliman have a chance of becoming Premier League players. They probably won't all make it at that level, but they are the prospects with the potential to do so imo.

  8. We stayed up and reached an FA Cup final without this guy playing for a majority of the games since Sherwood came in.

    He obviously isn't that good.

We stayed up and reached an FA Cup final without Leo Messi. Let's hope we don't sign him in the summer as he obviously isn't that good.

  9. I do, Sherwood doesnt think he is good enough and maybe he isnt. Looking great under Lambert means **** all when think about it. Matt Jarvis would have looked world class in the style of play we used to play of sitting behind the ball

Bizarre opinion. Almost everyone looked terrible under Lambert from what i remember rather than world class. Since Sherwood has come in, virtually everyone's performance level has been lifted so if anything I would have expected Gil to have improved further if played.

  10. What a **** turnaround, because I actually just jizzed a little over this news...before I would have been hanging myself lol.

And I thought I was VillaTalk's only autoerotic asphyxiation enthusiast.

On topic, keep up the good form Tom!

  11. He's played for a Paul Lambert team for two and a half years, I'm sure he'd happily "suffer" under Diego Cameron's management there.

I know Atletico are always pleading poverty but they have signed Aguero, Falcao and Forlan in the last 8 years so I'm sure they've got some dosh to be competitive against premier league teams.

They're a very good example to us anyway of a team that loses it's start striker every season, shrugs its shoulders and just gets on with things by signing another world class attacking player especially, Grezimann and Mandzukic came for the Diego Costa money so it can be done as long as you think cleverly.

Bloody Hell, now he's the Atletico manager too. There's having a good day but this is taking the piss!

  12. Any sign of Pete Colley at Bmh on sky? If he ain't there then I can't see us doing any business

I don't think anyone is at BMH for fear of being stroked on the cheek by a dildo.

We should try sign the purple dildo, it would offer more on the pitch than a couple of our players atm!

We might finally have a bit of penetration if nothing else.

Could this be the window we finally land Defoe ?

Really hope we sign a striker - for all the talk of lack of creativity, we are woeful in front of goal.

Being reported in the north east that he has / is signing for Sunderland in a £14m deal that includes Altidore going the otherway and that he will be on £80k a week.

Good Striker but if that deal is true then Sunderland have been had.

Yep absolutely mugged if its true.

On a side note altidore has 2 goals in 68PL games according to SSN. I am really struggling to get my head round that

  14. "The worrying thing would be if we weren't creating chances, but the goals are out there. You can't tell me Cleverley, Westwood, Sanchez and these boys don't have goals in them. The goals will come, I'm not worried abou' that".
