Just seen this on Twitter, could be a load of rubbish but you never know.

It's not rubbish, but the likes of Bayern/Juve/Napoli/Roma have been monitoring him so can't see it coming off. All the same it's very encouraging that we're bidding for this profile of player.

So instead of telling us Tony tells a journalist? Whether it came from Tony, the players agent or the other club I would have thought Tony would have mentioned it on Twitter if that was now the case.

He tweets about near enough everything else!

True, but he would have made a bit of a fool of himself u-turning so soon after his initial tweet. This way he can move to the next midfielder on the list and sign that one without explicitly contradicting himself. I'm not a massive Pat Murphy fan, but in my experience he defo doesn't make info up out of thin air.

This. It's like they're still stuck in the old routine of being able to make up vague stories because generally speaking owners aren't as vocal as Tone.

They are going to need to adapt soon or risk looking even more foolish than they already do.

Or Tony was right at the time, in that a deal was close, but it has since collapsed? Doesn't have to be a case of knowing more than the owner or making up stories. Things change.

    More chance of Ledley King.

You sure? Reliably told this morning that we have agreed a fee (in principle) for Joe Ledley. We do have other CM targets though, and I'm not sure how far up the pecking order he is. Personally, I'm not a massive fan, and so I hope we have better alternatives lined up.

The only way I could see us signing Pogba at this moment in time, is if we signed him and then loaned him to someone like PSG, until we return to the Premier league. The idea of him playing in the Championship isn't exactly delusional, but it is perhaps (well almost most definitely) wishful thinking.

50% chance of him coming from where I look at it. Either he will or he won't. It's 50/50.

Sounds like a rehash of that one story.  In a world where Troy Deeney is worth 30m, we shouldn't sell Ayew for anything less than 20imo.

If Deeney is worth 30m, Ayew is worth 60m.

Disclaimer: Neither player is worth that amount.

Nah - Tonev, Sylla, Holt, Dawkins... And that's just the last 4-5 years. Plus Heskey was a donkey.

Five worst, in order, have been Tonev, Sidwell, Bowery, Richardson, Bennett for me. Have been a Villan for 20 years and that they're all relatively recent says a lot. Honourable mention for Holt who just wasn't with us for long enough to work his way into the pantheon.

  8. The part of his post that is difficult to believe is that Lennon doesn't want the loan move. Surely the issue with that would be there is zero chance of Levy being open to it in the first place?

The part that's most difficult to believe is that he is a guy whose seemingly sole claim to ITKhood is that he said Veretout would sign, after he had already been massively linked to us by a plethora of news outlets, and after the Nantes owner had said he was on his bike to us!

  9. If some of the players we have had over the years had of come under the same scrutiny that this guy has .....we wouldn't be where we are today, just coming off 4 years of fighting relegation....To pick him up for a few errors (albeit the one at City was poor) is a bit rich coming from us, with some of the consistently poor outfield players we have had.

I'm a bit unsure how I feel about him as our goal keeper...got more presence than Given, better than Steer and Bunn , a tad on the small side at 6ft in this modern game.

I am sure of his persona, a top guy, good fella, and very passionate about Villa.

I too think there are better out there and I also think its one of the most important positions particularly when it comes to improving the teams consistency....albeit for the older fans Gary Sprake was a bit iffy, but the players he had in front of him in the great Leeds team compensated......I seem to recall one nick named the "flying pig" in Liverpools halcyon days before Grobelaar.....Tommy Lawrence I think it was?

With limited funds I think we could spend our money on more pressing positions and I know that sounds a bit contradictory, but I think he is ok for now.

Pretty sure he's well over 6 foot.

IMO Brad was far too good for a relegation-threatened side until last season when his performances definitely did dip. I still think he's comfortably good enough to be between the sticks for us, even if we aspire to the lofty heights of mid-table. In fact, there are quite a few positions I would point to as being in greater need of bolstering than GK. Just sort the fecking kicking out Brad, it's only in the last year it's gone to shite!

Anyone know where the u21's are playing their games this season? Hinckly? Villa Park?

First home game against Stoke on Monday and can't find any details

Playing some matches at the Banks' Stadium afaik.

Really? That's great news, I can get to those. Is that a definite?

I'm certain that when we played the recent friendly there, Jack Woodward said on AVTV that we'd play 5 or so U21 games there this season. Unless Cap'n Jack has lost the plot it's a definite!

Hey guys. Supporter of FC Nantes and huge fan of Jordan Veretout (pronounce veh-reh-too) here. Been following him even before he was a pro, in his junior years at Nantes.

Really glad that he is joining Premier League and the Villans. Can't wait to see him play with your colors. I am sure he will do great. Great bargain your club is doing here.

If you have any question, shoot.

Hey buddy! Welcome to Aston Villa yourself.

In your own words what are his strengths and weaknesses? You can give as long a description as you like!

    Thanks.

Jordan is a pure product of our junior training centre. Originally from our region, spent almost all his youth at Nantes.

Always been one of the best in his team in U17 and U19. Very regular in his progression.

4 years ago when he was just 18 and Nantes was still in French Second League, our coach at the time believed in him and made him skip the reserve to play directly with the pro group, as a regular player. Jordan has not left the 11 ever since. He immediately showed a lot of maturity, technic and vision. Even scored his first goals and assists on his very first season.

The last 3 seasons he has always been in our top 3 players of the season. Clearly our best player in 2014/2015. We had the crazy hope to keep him one more year but let's be realistic here... His style is perfect for the Premier League. He also had Liga clubs interested in him but I don't think his style is convenient for the Spanish championship.

He is a pure CM. Can help as a DM or CAM, but his true position is CM, definitely.

    Strengths:

    - Great vision

    - Great passer

    - Endurance

    - Very good mentality

    - 4-season experience as a regular player already

    - Almost never injured

    Weaknesses:

    - Average speed

    - Technically average

    - Not the best free kick/corner shooter

    - Can't play on wings

Can we have Papy Djilobodji too?  ;)

  13.

Welcome to the greatest team in England Jordan. Show us your gallic flair and lay the ghost of Matthieu Berson to rest.

Perhaps he'll open his legs and show us his class...

    Hippo, is that you?
