Tbf we've struggled at left back since Alan wright left
I wonder if there is a gypsy curse on that position ??
(And anyone that says Bouma will be horse whipped and have their eyes removed with a blunt spoon )
Why the beef with Freddy B?!
-
We had a very tough start to the season though...
-
He must be absolutely dreadful.
Whilst by no means a great performance, in his little cameo vs spuds in the league cup he (imo) showed more than bowery. Now I know that's no saying alot mate but I'm certainly surprised he hasn't been given one or two more cameos.
He "showed" a lot in that game alright.

I think the Strain brothers divided the goals between themselves SGC. Hopefully we'll have a decent Youth Cup run this season.

Frustrating is not the word. Couldnt have got loaned out to a worse defending side. Ughh
Do you mean their defence is shoddy or that they're making Jack play too defensively?
The first one, They stuck him on the wing. No doubt he needs to improve his goalscoring but every game jacks played they've scored ( including when he came off the bench for his first match ). I went to leyton orient away were they lost 5-1. They concede goals for fun. Going to be a few hard months with this side, theres no doubt about that.
Yeah, their fans seem set on the manager being sacked. More importantly, how did Jack play personally today Kev?
-
No bother Kev. Hard to look good in a 4-0 loss but Jack just looks so much more comfortable on the ball than the other Irish lads.

Interesting to see whether he's loaned out. He seems technically ready for top-level football, but there are other aspects to the game than quality on the ball.
-
Yup, at least two years younger than anyone else in the squad. doesn't seem mentally or physically overwhelmed which is good to see.
-
Has looked class since coming on for Ireland u21s. They're 4-0 down against Germany but he looks a class above any other Irish player, bar Carruthers who was harshly sent off.
-
Grealish on now! Two/three years younger than any other Irish player in the squad.
-
It was bizarre, up there with Chris Herd's red against WBA a couple of seasons ago. The commentators insist that he wasn't previously booked but the ref gave him a yellow and a red for the same incident! To make matters worse, he won the ball! On the bright side, he was the only Irish player who seemed to be comfortable playing at the same level as the Germans.
-
Carruthers sent off for Ireland u21s. Very harsh imo. He'd been Ireland's best player for the first hour, though that's not saying much. Hopefully Grealish comes on now.

I think it's fair to say Gabby's quite fond of Nicki Minaj after last nights Twitter activity!
-
Sound job BOF.
Whereabouts in Ireland are you from, if you don't mind me asking?
-
Have any other Villans got tickets in the East Stand???
-
Yeah Grealish for sure. Supremely composed on the ball, drifts effortlessly from the wing inside, and when he doesn't have the ball he has a great knack of getting himself in to a position to receive the ball and - importantly - do something with it. Either find a team mate, beat his man, or move the ball in to space.
He draws a decent foul too. I'm sure there's a better way of putting that, but you know what I mean. He also doesn't seem to be small when compared to the other villa lads - but maybe the rest are small?
Teams out for the second half, villa shooting the other way so will be harder to track the forward players unfortunately
Cheers mate. Top stuff
-
Cheers for the updates hogso. Who has stood out for you? Grealish head and shoulders above?

I think thats what will happen. Because we have clark, baker, vlaar and okore as our CB's janoi wont get much game time. I do think a loan may benefit Janoi aswell.
I think all of the Nextgen guys would do well with loans, except
carruthers and possibly Jack . I can't help but feel that Clark, Albrighton, etc would have benefitted from playing against men in the Football League at a young age. At 18-20, Burke, Robinson, Donacien, etc are too old/good to benefit from playing reserves anymore.

How highly
They played great together Derrick was more stronger but also had a lot less pace (even though derrick is faster than the average CB) . So they complemented each other and bossed the games against the young lads. I always had a vague idea janoi had more potential but couldnt believe when derrick went to bristol. I honestly thought he'd have a good chance this year. As derrick said villa offered him a contract but he decided he'll stand a better chance at bristol. Ability wise at the minute derrick is ahead, potential wise janoi has more I'd say. Hope derrick makes it back to the big time though.Hi Kev,
How would you rate Janoi in comparison to Derrick Williams, who is a similar age and has left the club? Thanks Kevan. I've seen them both play a fair few times and pretty much agree. Would have preferred Williams to go out on loan if he wanted playing time but it's his call obviously. Wouldn't mind seeing Donacien go on loan either rather than playing 2/3 cup games at right back.

Callum Robinson has looked bright, was good against Luton too...

Cheers heid3ster. I must be a masochist wanting to listen to Woodward commentate on us losing to Wycombe in terrible quality!
-
Can anyone tell me how to get the audio coverage? (Subscribed a few days ago).
-
I don't doubt that we'd get another striker in (Helenius has potential but is no Benteke, and Lambert seems happy with Gabby/Weimann as widemen). I don't think there is much room for bodies elsewhere however, other than RB and CM, and I'm not sure we have the wages to attract £8-10m players.
