  1. He simply isn't good enough. Every now and then he does something OK but that is totally cancelled by bad control, poor tackles and sloppy passes the rest of the time.

We need someone that will drive forward was pace and make a meaningful pass. Then get into the penalty area for anything that drops his way. 2 passes sidewards before losing possesion while still in our own half is a killer.

    Why can't Lambert see this?

  2. That is what I saw today. Way too many times we gave the ball away. Central midfield is so weak. I miss Banan at least he can pass.

Albrighton should have come off not Gabby. Why do we commit fouls when they are going nowhere but we push them for no reason.

Bennett looks so shaky against players that can run at him -- major weak spot.

    God help us!!!

  3. Can't believe the over reactions on here!

I don't think anyone is over reacting. I know I am not. I think what we are saying is he needs time to adapt and maybe coming on as a sub will be more benefical to him and the team. Hey this is Villatalk he will get 2 bad games before being declared a bust!!

  4. Have to say our last two premier league games has me questioning Lamberts tactical ability..... I always thought he was a manager who would change things if it wasn't working.... Though against Southampton and today it clearly weren't working and only like for like changes were made.

Against Southampton we really needed to stop being so direct and giving possession away. Today we were getting overrun in midfield straight after half time.... Their 5 was bullying our 4. Should have took Gabby off and put 5 in midfield IMO and pressed higher.

By no means am I writing him off at all. Just an observation...

I am sorry anybody that wanted to take Gabby off when he had played really well is a little suspect in his analysis.....

  5. Tidy is a good word for him today but with KEA playing beside him we lack creativity in middle of park going forward. I though Bannan gave that and more energy when he came on.

Not sure what I would do for next week. Probably start with Delph as he will soon be suspended the way he is picking up yellow cards.

  6. Delph has been a hugh waste of money so far. He can't tackle, can't control the ball, passes backwards or sidewards at best and can't shoot. He has time on his side but needs several good performances like Tuesday to prove he has what it takes.

  7. If he had of scored when it was blocked on the line he would have been starting again this week. I think he did enough to keep his spot though. We need his effort up front for 60+ mins against Soton to keep the team momentum going. I am not sure Bent and Benteke will give us that unless we are playing well and providing them lots of possession. The choice will be very interesting coz Lambert has a reputation for mixing it up. Me I'd be too scared and go with same team again.

  8. I really like our forward line options now. Especially with a fit Gabby. In theory the midfield is adeqaute if they can play to their supposed ability. Feel OK about center of defence but hope they improve to become real mean (Baker is my hope here). The fullbacks scare me to death especially if the come up against quailty wingers. Happy with our goalkeeping options.

  9. I think we did play Columbus Crew a couple of seasons ago didn't we in our last tour?

Yeah Villa came here, the fans looked like a bunch of a-holes, by coming into the supporters section, starting fights with everyone, cussing at children.

What are you talking about? I was there and didn't see one fight or even 1 bad word said to a child!!. There was a special area before the game for Villa and Columbus fans to drink and eat. No problems. Villa fans were in a separete section, No problems. In town before and after game - no problems.

Not saying there wasn't someone somewhere but you just trashed all supporters at that game and that is completely wrong.

  10. Lol, some of those early quotes are solid gold

Luckily I appear to have come out of this with my credibility in tact

It is every post after this that leaves your credibility in tatters :crylaugh:

  11. I think when we see a midfield of

    -----El Ahmadi

    --Gardner-Bannan

Marc will flourish, as him and GG+BB have a great understanding, I remember GG looking a lot better in a game last season (cant remember which) when BB came on, and also BB's pass vs Fulham last season, I just think once we get the academy guys in a cohesive team, playing in the right way we'll start to flourish.

Also MA, like Bannan, is a player that needs confidence to play and I have no doubt Lambert will give him that. I honestly believe we'll see a return of the pinpoint crossing we saw in 10/11 this season.

2 out of 3 agree but Gardner did nothing in the USA to suggest he is ready to be a starter. Holman, Ireland and Bent you can add also, To me that means 1 more out of Zog, Wieman, Fonz. Gabb and Albrighton. Sorry don't rate Delph...

  12. The MLS sesason is over with in November so a 6 month loan is complete load of tosh. Brad would be sitting doing nothing for 2 months. If that part doesn't make sense then all of it can be crap.

  13. Yea I think it would be 30+ for sure

We need Deasy (the creator of this thread) to come back as I think Deasy worked it out, by somehow finding out how many ST's were sold in each stand of the stadium and then adding them up. Not sure how to do it though

This question also goes out to the post above yours, but care to explain why you believe the cap would be at the levels you suggest? Especially when an article indicates our cap was about 26,000 just a few seasons ago

Yep 3 years ago we had 26000+ season ticket holders and there was a cap in place for certain stands that was reached. I don't know that that means our cap was 26000 becuase you could probably buy Holte End tickets, etc but those were our published numbers.

  14. Why didn't Dunne and Herd train, are they injured?

They must be injured, although why the reporters that follow the team don't report on these things is strange. The first thing my son said was 'where is Dunne?'. Didn't notice Herd was missing TBH. Then about 10 minutes before the end of the session, they all appear, Bent, Gabby, Dunne and Herd. Must have been doing something inside the stadium which more than likely was receiving some kind of treatment,

  15. Agree with all of the above. I was there too and thought Collins looked really good, even his passing was great.

Up front I thought the Fonz did better than Wieman also, which was another shock to me.

El Ahmadi total class. If he can keep it up, a holte end favourite for sure.

Really looking forward to the tomorrow, starting with the Bitter End pub and the Timbers Army. I also garantee that everyone is blown away by Portlands supporters. Should be a great atmosphere and day all around.

  16. So if Richard was wrong about this then he might have had bad info regarding Lambert getting backed? no evidence so far to suggest PL is being heavily backed

Or he was just guessing? Like most of the supposed itk's do and hope they get a hit.

Yep... called out by the looks of it. One guess too many and the rep has gone up in smoke
