Defensively, he was dire. His positioning and closing down is very poor. Hopefully he will get better with games, but his lack of Football over the last 12 months, shows. He really wasn't that bad, considering he is fitting in to a new side and it was only his second match, he was better than the first match (granted not that hard to be) but I think his positioning being poor was due to his lack of football and fitness (as you also suggested) . He looked a threat going forward and think he will still work out to be a good solid signing at the least

Hutton was fine, there was alot worse than him today. He is no worse than Luke Young. Yes he did make a couple of mistakes, but when match fit I believe he will be a decent player.

Yes Newcastle were the better team for most of the match, but e missed 2 absolute sitters, one of them when we were 1-0 up and would've put the match out of sight. Unbeaten still but too many draws. Not sure how you can say it's a sorry state of affairs as this lot beat us 6-0 last year so if anything that result is an improvement. We didn't play that well but could as easily have won the match. There are problems in linking the play, and two key players in Bent and CNZ don't seem right yet, but the way people are talking it sounds like we've lost 5 out of 5! But we beat them 1-0 in this fixture last year, it was 6-0 away.

Given man of the match, says a lot. The way we played, a draw is a good result. Defended for large periods of the game and were poor going forward. Didnt really test the Newcastle keeper. Hutton was decent enough and apart from a couple of mistakes Warnock played well. Zog showed glimpses of what he can do when on form but most of what he did was awful. Delph would be a similar summary. All in all no where good enough at home,sorry for the Villa Park crowd they deserve better.
