    Blind faith? You only have to listen to the neutrals to see that it is far from that. I heard crooks, keown, Hanson and lawro alone say it was not even a foul let alone red card and pen. Match of day showed a perfect slow of it and there was nothing doing

    1558: Just a bit more on the red card/West Brom penalty at Villa Park. It was the linesman Darren Caan - who was assistant ref in the 2010 World Cup final - who gave it. Chris Herd and Jonas Olsson had a tussle as Chris Brunt prepared to take his free-kick, and Phil Dowd had a word with Herd then. Seems he marked his card even before anything actually happened. And, crucially for me, Olsson did not complain one bit when they tangled in the area, although he did celebrate when the penalty was given. Got all that? From BBC

    West Brom missed pen: Right, I've seen a couple of replays but it is still not immediately obvious what has happened. Chris Herd does tangle with Jonas Olsson as the run in for Chris Brunt's (blocked) free-kick but it is never a red card, not in a million years, even when they tangle as theyget up afterwards. It's a pretty soft penalty too, so perhaps justice is done when Chris Brunt steps up to wildly blast his spot-kick well wide of goal. Think Chris Waddle in Italia 90, but worse.

    Gabby man of the match, easy one today, although no one let the side down. Shame Delph is low on confidence but we have to believe it will come with him. Not a good idea to get on his back.
