Wonder will we look to offload one of the crown jewels to get us back on track? Absolutely galling that Man City are almost breaking even on that table.
One of the things that they are the kings of is selling a first team player for a decent wedge of money every summer which helps with FFP.
Summer of '23 - Palmer 47m, Mahrez 35m, Laporte 27.5m
Summer of '22 - Sterling 56m, G. Jesus 52m, Zinchenko 35m, Porro was only 8m per transfermarkt but had a sell on clause
Summer of '21 - Torres - 55m, Angelino - 20m,
Summer of '20 - Sane - 50m
Not saying we need to sell anyone, but being able to have the flexibility to do something like this would be extremely helpful with FFP.

yeah, I would be extremely surprised if any of the top 5 are not in the top 5 by the end of the season. 5-point gap between 5th & 6th, and an 8-point gap between 5th and 7th.

I think we are going to miss him, more defensively sound than Moreno

Watkins trotting to that, any decent striker pounces on that to score!
he was clearly offside

For me, the circle badge is a complete rip off of the Chelsea badge, with a shade of claret and blue that I don't particularly associate with Villa. I understand why it was chosen -- the alternative option was not good either, almost like Purslow wanted a reason that most would pick the round badge.

Yeah, this is baffling, they know it was handball, but not sure whether it was inside or outside the box. Did they give a free kick or just played on?
I believe a goal kick? The ball went out and ref stopped for the check. VAR can't give a FK for that type of incident though

I don’t mind that one so much. I think it should be handball, but he sort of stumbles whilst low and his hand would naturally move there.
The appeal Forest had against Bournemouth was far worse IMO. Arm outstretched behind the defender, ball crossed in from a decent distance away - not handball.
Who knows what is and what isn’t anymore.
that wasn't given because there was not "clear and obvious" evidence that the arm was inside the box.

Bournemouth had Justin Kluivert on the bench today, he's better than Duran.
Beto scored a couple for Everton recently and previously hit double figures in Serie A.
Richarlison not been great for Spurs at all but he's on a nice scoring run currently, dosen't make their team when Maddison is fit again.
West Ham had Ings on the bench. Turned out a waste of money for them but ultimately his goals to game ratio was good last season but made sense to cash in to claw back some FFP.
Newcastle don't start Wilson and Isak that often so one of them is usually on the bench.
Welbeck is a decent enough sub striker for Brighton, great header the other night.
Kaladzjic has scored a couple for Wolves off the bench, would've started way more for them but for the ACL on his debut.
So yes there are plenty of backup strikers in the league better than Jhon Duran.
Duran has potential but this debate feels exactly the same as when everyone was bigging up Kienan Davis and why bother signing anyone better to put some pressure on Ollie or at least give us a decent option off the bench in games we aren't winning.
Kuivert isn't really an out and out striker though, he's more similar to Zaniolo. Beto has almost 4x the minutes Duran has and still less goals (I know Serie A / background but someone like Scamacca still only managed 3 PL goals). Richarlison, yeah I'd expect that since he cost 60m and is Spurs best out and out striker.
I think the issue is we aren't going to get a good "back-up" striker while Watkins is always going to be 1st choice. And TBH I'd take Durán over all of those who you mentioned except Richarlison (Not including Isak as he would start over Wilson, but Wilson would be too expensive to be on our bench)

16 points from a possible 18 in their last 6 matches. We were the only team to get anything from them.

I genuinely have no clue what is and is not a handball in the Premier League anymore and I am a certified referee.

No, but an improvement on Duran shouldn't be that hard to find.
I'd be pretty surprised if we signed another striker in Jan and how many PL teams have backup strikers who are better than Duran? Not many I'd say
