  1. Bent is a really good poacher, but not a good footballer. His contribution apart from the goals is often next to nothing. Furthermore, he most often needs 3-4 chances to score 1 goal. Anyone ever counted the number of clear-cut chances he's completely wasted? Don't get me wrong, I am all for keeping Bent, but he isn't of much use to us unless we can provide him with the kind of service he needs. Thus, IMHO it would be better to cash in on him now, and use the money to rebuild the squad.

  2. Bolton will certainly win WBA, and would've done so regardless, because they where there for the taking when we played them as well. QPR will likewise also beat Stoke, whom have absolutely nothing to play for anymore. Which basically means we are ****, in case any of them manage to get one more point, seeing as we will not get anything from our remaining games. Tottenham will grind out a victory, just as they did yesterday.
Your maths is wrong. You say "Which basically means we are ****, in case any of them manage to get one more point". That's not true. In order for us to go down, BOTH of them have to get one more point. Let's assume Wigan finish above us. That puts us 16th. Now BOTH Bolton and QPR must finish above us for us to go down. Not just one of them. So I'm afraid you're not being realistic. You're getting your maths wrong and being pessimistic off the back of that.

True that. Apparently the mess we are in has made me completely disorientated...

Well regardless, it seems very likely (realistic) that both Bolton & QPR win their next games, meaning it will go down to the wire, where anything can happen and imho we'll not win Norwich away, but a point will of course be enough, and I'll admit I find it highly unlikely that QPR will get more than one point at the Etihad. So I guess we'll stay up. We are however **** regardless, when considering our current squad and these morons that are pulling the strings at present.

  3. So Vreitti will QPR beat Man City?

It depends on the title race I guess, but probably not. I am very sorry for trying to be realistic in my predictions. I sure as shit don't wan't to see us going down, but it is not looking good, even a neutral would have to admit this much.

  5. Can someone please explain to me why McLeish isn't sacked right now? What on earth is there anymore to consider Randy!? I don't even care who they'd appoint instead, it doesn't make any difference what so ever at this point, for all I care we could have Gabby in charge for the rest of the season, we couldn't possibly do any worse...

I get it, that we basically only need one more victory to be safe, but it will never happen with that clown in charge.

  6. Looking at our current form, the fixtures to come, I honestly don't see us winning a single game for the rest of the season. We might manage a draw or two, but will it really be enough to stay up? When we beat Fulham I was certain we'd stay up, but with Wigan, Bolton, QPR, Blackburn all winning games lately, it changes everything.

  7. The football under McCleish has been downright diabolical for most of the season. At one point this season, I actually stopped watching football altogether. But in the end my love for the club is too big, and I just had to start watching again...

A slightly more positive outcome (resultwise) in the last few games, certainly isn't enough to convince me that he's finally 'turned things around' or whatever crap some people seem to suggest. However, if by some miracle we now manage to beat Bolton and scrape together a few more wins along the way, before the season ends, I will understand if Randy is willing to give him more time. I wouldn't personally, but looking at things from his point of view, it seems like the sensible thing to do really, when considering our apparent financial state.

Having said that, it's not just about 'scraping together a few more wins'. I'd like to think that the manner in which we win or loose will also play some part in deciding if McCleish ultimately stays or goes. Perhaps this is a luxury though, that we as supporters, cannot enforce without it being detrimental to the club. Is it really asking too much, in this modern day and age, that the entertainment value of football, should at least to some extent reflect the hopes and wishes of the fans?

I have to say though, I think the signing of Holman on a bosman is good business, although I do not know anything about his quality. These are probably the type of signings we can look forward to in the coming months and year(s), but it doesn't necessarily mean we won't be able to compete. I'd rather we invest whatever little cash we have in youth, and on some shrewd acquisitions from abroad, as opposed to throwing it all on big-money, big-wage, flair signings that might risk the entire financial future of the club. At the end of the day, like so many have pointed out, we already have a decent squad of players, and who knows with a few replacements, a few players clicking together, we just might be able to compete for a top8 finish again next season.

  8. DJ is a fine player, no question, but at the end of the day, if he were to leave, it certainly isn't the end of the world. Having said that, we should be getting +£20M for a player of his calibre, considering Pool paid that much for Henderson who is nowhere near DJ's class.

Think we have an interesting season to look forward, especially if DJ also leaves, because it will mean we have to buy more QUALITY players. And I sincerely hope McLeish gets it right.

  9. Anyone else having dreams about Mourinho deciding he wants a challenge, for once?

This. If he had any real ambition at all he'd jump at the chance to manage us. Winning something with teams like Chelsea, Inter and Real, considering their players and finances, is peanuts really, any half decent manager will accomplish that. If he truly believes he's 'the special one', why not come here and prove it!?

    Not. A. Chance.

Why stop at us? If he really wants to prove he's so great, why not go and take over a non-league team and take them on to win the Champs League.

This just isn't going to happen. It would take him out of the limelight, and if it went wrong it would damage his reputation a hell of a lot. The best managers manage the best clubs. They don't drop down a step or three just for the hell of it.

I know there isn't a chance in hell he'd come but it would be interesting if he did. But he isn't genuinely interested in proving his worth as he's mostly full of s**t anyways, and only seems to care about being in the limelight and earning astronomical sums of money. Fwiw I don't even rate him that much as a manager and I honestly believe he'd fail miserably, managing anything else than a world class club with infinite resources.

  11. Not a great performance, but a much needed win and I have to say I am over the moon. Never thought we'd be able to hang on to that lead. Collins was superb, I'll forgive his blunders for scoring that winner. Also impressed with Petrov & Gabby today. Thought A.Young, Makoun and Bent were terrible. Especially Young, apart from the assist, all he did was moan and fall over. Almost every pass was abysmal. Tbh I am growing very tired of his antics, I'd consider dropping him for a game or two. Makoun was a bit lost today and his 'lightweightness' was especially noticeable. Bent is useless when he doesn't get the proper balls, sad but true.
