I'm a little surprised there have been no leaks from the football supporting staff at JPM in New York.

There must be all sorts of emergency meetings going on and I'd love to see the legalese in the binding agreement they've all signed.

As there have been no leaks, it makes me think that this was a testing the waters exercise to gauge the reaction? Set up a nice website and make some announcements and see what happens?

  2. @KenjiOgiwara is right - the UK is not a coffee country.

Oh they do drink a lot of what they think is coffee, but it's actually brown milky piss water. Nescafé? - freeze dried Vietnamese donkey turd.
Costa Coffee ?Costa lot of milky brown turdy water.

Appalling place to get coffee. I would go as far to say I've never had a good cup of coffee in the UK.

Killed the rest of the season and possibly football in general for me.

Make no mistake the people we're seeing coming out in outrage aren't doing this for the integrity of the sport, its not for the fans or its importance in worldwide culture, they're only speaking up because they don't have a slice of the pie.

Yeah it's easy to be cynical right now but I think Ferdinand, Neville and even Danny Murphy were being honest. (Can't believe I'd ever agree with Danny flippin' Murphy)

Obviously it will be interesting to see if it goes ahead which of them end up commentating on it or being pundits.

Hmm, so in theory, Aston Villa could win the PL and qualify to be a punching bag for a season in the Elite Super Wank League?

    Exactly.

Throw a few crumbs to the peasants every now and again to keep them quiet and desperate.

Well For Arsenal and Spurs  CL revenue isn’t an issue at present !!

It isn’t clear on the page I read if it’s £3.6bn per club or a collective , there might be better sources that can clear that up though

Tony it’s not 3.6 billion each.

it is however completely f’d up how the money is split up. Here’s a thread that breaks it down.

  6. What a sad, sad day. Truly upsetting.

Also, it’s already split the fans of the clubs involved. Some are against, some say it’s inevitable. Divide and conquer - it’s the oldest trick in the book.

The first league competition formed in 1888 by our own William McGregor. Put on life support in 1992 and the plug was finally pulled in 2021.

Truly depressing - but I guess that’s progress.

I disagree, Liverpool like it or not are a world recognised brand. Even when they’re not winning things they attract a massive global fan base.

Wonder how many of their international fans watched us smack 7 goals past them?

Would also accelerate their entry into a European super league so it depends what the end goal is

    F 'em - so long.

At least the PL or Division one or whatever you called it would be interesting again if any one of 10 teams could win it.

The PL should disqualify these clubs from playing in Europe next year after this idea is shut down. Make it very apparent that those clubs are not bigger than the league.

Current table would have Leiscester, West Ham, Everton, and Leeds in CL, with us one point behind and in Europa.

Won’t ever happen, but a fan can dream.

I like Neville's idea of docking them all about 40 points. That would take the money off them.

On the one hand, this is kind of what you want to read, but on the other hand, 'pot calling the kettle black' has nothing on it:

Statement by UEFA, the English Football Association, the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), LaLiga, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Lega Serie A

'UEFA, the English Football Association and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga, and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Lega Serie A have learned that a few English, Spanish and Italian clubs may be planning to announce their creation of a closed, so-called Super League.

If this were to happen, we wish to reiterate that we – UEFA, the English FA, RFEF, FIGC, the Premier League, LaLiga, Lega Serie A, but also FIFA and all our member associations - will remain united in our efforts to stop this cynical project, a project that is founded on the self-interest of a few clubs at a time when society needs solidarity more than ever.

We will consider all measures available to us, at all levels, both judicial and sporting in order to prevent this happening. Football is based on open competitions and sporting merit; it cannot be any other way.

As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams.

We thank those clubs in other countries, especially the French and German clubs, who have refused to sign up to this. We call on all lovers of football, supporters and politicians, to join us in fighting against such a project if it were to be announced. This persistent self-interest of a few has been going on for too long. Enough is enough.'

    Oh the irony.

The door to this was opened in 1992, in addition to the formation of the "Champions" League (otherwise known as the race for 4th)

All of a sudden the PL and UEFA care about football and not making a profit - when it looks like they aren't going to get a cut out of the pie.
